I was going to replace my ball joints this weekend along with my struts. There are so many cheep ones out there, especially on ebay. I went that way with my 95 eclipse's control arms because the oem one were so expensive. Ended up replacing them one month later because the boot cracked to pieces. This is why i purchased from MSA, 1st they did not send me the ones pictured, they had a zirk fitting and snap ring holding the boot on. The ones i received have no zirk fittings and the boot is just pushed on, nothing securing it. They also come from "Korea" , i work for a Korean company that manufactures weather stripping for Hyundai and we make junk ! Not sure if i should just…

Yes, I search and did not find this problem. I have a 240z with a 240z rack (diamond/hole bushing arrangement). I am in the process of reassembling my front end and hoped to get the rack in today. The passenger side bushing fit perfectly - a little bit of grease and the bushing just popped into place. However, the driver side bushing refuses to go on. I have determined that the bushing itself is too wide. As I press it into place, the ridges of the bushing are compressed towards each other. Yes, the mounting area is clean. As a matter of fact, I can not get the bushing to stay in place. It keeps popping back out due to it being too wide. Yes, the packaging indica…

Hi All, I'm sure this has been discussed to death by now, and I've been slowly trawling though all sorts of the previous existing threads however I want to hear some accounts about peoples suspension setups, and their opinions on them for road use. I'm yet to drive my car however, from what I've been told having US suspension the car will be very soft and bouncy on the UK roads (compared to the European Spec suspension). We will wait and see in due course though. That being said long term I will be looking for suspension suitable for fast road use on UK roads, with this in mind I would much prefer to stray more towards comfort than to outright performance and a hars…

I'm making my list to finish up the front end and I'd like to replace the steering coupler, but don't want a poly/solid one. Is there a rubber one available somewhere that I just haven't found?

while messing around on the z yesterday I noticed the lack of a dust cover on the tie rod. Looks like it just crumbled up and was gone. I know the standard course of action is to replace tie rods, but the car steers well and handled fine, and I did not want to mess that up, so... of to part store and I got some dust boots. There were the cheap looking dorman ones and then better looking urethane ones. I got both just to cover the bases. jack up front off comes the wheel, impact driver makes short work of the nut, then nothing. I do not have one of those forks used to separate tie rods, banging on the sides of the ball joint part did nothing. Then it hit me, chill i…

So currently 3 things are seized. My ball joint to the steering knuckle, the knuckle to the tie rod ball joint, and the tie rod itself to the steering rack. Strut assy is off the car currently since I replaced the strut and springs, and I was planning on replacing the ball joint and the tie rod as well. If i can remove the tie rod from the steering rack then I could work on the two ball joints off the car. But the locking nut and outer tie rod are really stuck. And yes, I am aware that the threading on the drivers side is reversed. I have applied liberal amounts of penetrating fluid, but no heat yet as I do not have an acetylene torch, only a homedepot benzom…

A couple months ago, I had a bearing kit put in my 71 4 speed tranny . After i got it back from the shop, I had occaisonal "crucnhing" when shifting into reverse. The shop adjusted the rod on the slave cylander so the crunching went away.I noticed the clutch pedal action felt firmer as well. Yesterday i noticed I am beginning to get clutch slippage. Note that I had the shop inspect my clutch when it was out and they said it is fine. I hear that it is very liklely the slippage is caused by the slave cylinder being adjusted too much in the other direction. I want to adjust the rod on the slave myself. I see it has a lock nut and an adjustment nut, but I'd like some advice …

One of my tension/compression rod nuts fell off somewhere and I lost some parts on the road. While inspecting the other arm (the one that didn't fall apart by itself), I discovered that I only had one correct large washer (out of four), and the other smaller washers looked suspect as well. I also did a little searching here on the site and found that the recommended configuration is poly up front, but rubber in back to lower the stress on the rod. After a bunch of searching, I turned up P/N 45G25036 bushing kit from AC Delco that is very nice and not only includes rubber bushing, but includes all the washers and nuts for one complete side. The washers are high quality, a…

So being unsatisfied with my lowering springs I decided to bite the bullet and order these coilovers. I like the idea of having more adjustability in height, dampenining, and camber. You can even order custom spring rates. These are very good quality and I think a reasonable price. Has anyone had these installed? I will do a full review once I get them on the car. Heres a few pics of them installed (not mine)

I was wondering exactly how to change the differential oil on a 78 280Z. I can see a plug that appears to be how to drain it but how do I refill it? How much do I use and does anyone have a particular type they would reccomend?

A little back story: last summer I pulled out the entire suspension and replaced the shocks, springs, bushings, sway bars and tie rod ends. I installed the new tie rod ends on the same number of turns as the old ones, but I know the alignment has been off ever since I bought the car. This past weekend, I finally spent some hours attempting to correct it myself. First, I centered the rack as best I could by counting steering wheel revolutions from lock to lock, then putting the wheel back on as close to the middle as I could. Then, pulled the car into the garage with the steering wheel straight. Tied strings to jackstands and positioned them parallel t…
