I have my steering column out of the car. I want to check everything out. Grease, etc. In the manual it says bearings can be serviced where the circlip is. The bottom column slid right out. Up top where the circlip is (steering wheel end) seems to be stuck. I don't want to force anything. Any info or help? 71 240Z Yhank you very much, TimsZ

I have a set of NOS 14mm ball joints that will not fit the 01/70 restoration due to the 11mm taper receivers on the lower control arm steering knuckles. What do I do? 1) have the OE steering knuckles tapered to accept the 14mm ball joints and pretend it never happened 2) purchase 14mm steering knuckles (are there noticeable differences?) and pretend it never happened 3) find NOS ball joints with an 11mm taper 4) buy AC DELCO 11mm taper ball joints (are there noticeable differences in appearance) originality is of most importance, but if the 11mm taper is a safety issue (as it seems, due to the change in size), I would like to know what the best solution is as far as …

I have a 71 240, lowered I used the tokico illumina 5 way adjustable shocks and coils. Lately I've be hearing a clunking/popping noise. It sounds like bad u-joints. My mechanic says it's the rear shocks. This guy is a z whisper but he's hasn't had a chance to look at them. Has anyone had this problem. I'm thinking coilovers. I like the setup that I have. It's my daily driver and I keep putting my 300tt on the back burner dealing with 240 issues. It's in the shop getting painted and restored to like new condition. Hope to share some pics.

WIth the electrical, clutch, and engine issues resolved its time to move on the next item on the to-do list. Any recommendations for a qualified and conscientious shop near RIchmond, Va to replace the rear suspension bushings?

I just finished going through everything suspension on my 71 240, I'm amazed that almost everything came out great, everything but... when I drive over a bump, or uneven ground I get a "clunking sound". Sounds like it is coming from the right rear shock tower, I removed the wheel, put a 2x4 under the drum and pried up on the drum sure enough it sounds like it is coming from the top of the shock/strut assembly. Here's my question, should I replace the strut mount insulator (page 43, #51, Black dragon catalog), or should I look elsewhere, and should I go ahead and replace both sides? They are 44 years old? Thanks for the advice Eric

I have a question about lowering spring height vs. (old) stock spring height. I purchased what I believed were a used set of Suspension Techniques linear lowering springs. They have ST Front stickers in front. When I compare the rear pair with my original set, the ST springs are around 3" shorter. Is this normal? I can seem to compress the original springs to the ST springs' height quite easily. ST rear springs on left, original rear springs on right Stickers on front springs Thanks in advance.

This not a suspension specific question, but but applies to all parts. Can anyone tell me what colour of finish is correct for nuts, bolts and washers on a 71 240z? Thanks

Haven't done a price comparison but this might be another parts source to consider: http://www.aftermarketsuspensionparts.com/Nissan-240Z-1972.htm

I'm a newbie, so please forgive me for a stupid question. I've been looking all around for an answer to this but I can't seem to find it, and possibly because I'm not calling it the correct thing. I just purchased a 72 240z last week and I'm going to replace the shocks and springs and do some suspension/ brake work. When I pulled off the drivers front rotor, I noticed the (spindle?) is chewed. I'll provide a photo of what I'm talking about. I've only ever heard it called a spindle, but I can't find it anywhere. Is only apart of the whole strut/ knee assembly or can I get it seperate?

I am wanting to replace all of the bushings in my 71z. I found a kit on Amazon, but I don't want it to be too stiff. I am wondering if anyone has had any experience with the Amazon complete kits. I am trying to achieve close to oem ride quality, something I would be able to daily drive on my long commute and not ruin my back. My steering Wheel is at 11:00 a.m after all the suspensión bushings were changed. Do i need to take the car to alignment so that the steering Wheel sits at 12:00 p.m.? Will i need to remove the steering Wheel also after doing the alignment?
