My car has an aftermarket replacement steering rack in it. It is about 8-10 years old and has a significant amount of play in the passenger side inner tie rod end. It doesn't look like the photos of the stock racks in the other threads here. Am I out of luck in getting a replacement inner tie rod end for it?

I have a dilemma and I have discussed this with many car experts. The results are mixed, so I thought I would post this question again because opinions are very mixed, only causing more confusion regarding this topic. I am not interested in putting my car on the track but currently its stance is ridiculously high with an enormous wheel gap. All the after market lowering springs currently available will only on average lower my car by at best a little more than an inch which will not help me with the over 3 inches of gap I am trying to eliminate. Quality adjustable coil overs are extremely expensive and also require fabrication/welding/butchering my original Z car whic…

I am getting ready to put the Z up on stands and totally refresh the suspension. I would like more ground clearance and a bit of actual suspension travel. I currently have 17 year old Tokico HP's that seem to be shot, and a set of progressive tokico springs. My plans are to make the switch to Tokico HP struts again Eibach springs (based on Diseazd reviews) New OEM nissan strut tops to replace my 43 year old ones. Troubling to hear people are not finding tokicos available any more. Is this still true. I will call motorsports day after christmas to see. I would like a combo that gives me about an inch more ground clearance.

Hi folks, I learned this year that my z's rear struts have visibly different angles where the strut tube is inserted into the bearing housing. This explains a lot, the car has always had a funky driver-side rear toe issue, and it's off enough that with urethane bushings and the new adjustable LCA's, the driver-side LCA had to be torqued to get the main bolt thru. Not good, we know, but the car is just a roller for now so it shouldn't affect anything. Anyway, there are a few threads on this, it's a fairly common issue, but is there a way to fix it aside from hoping to find a replacement strut? Can the tube be separated from its housing and adjusted to proper angle? …

Just got my front suspension all back on and finally got the steering coupler and rod to steering rack to mate up. But, to my disappointment I discovered that the steering wheel is a quarter turn or so off center now. My question is, can I simply unbolt the steering wheel and correct it there? Or is the steering wheel centered with the column requiring me to reconnect the steering coupler correctly? Thanks.

Just finishing my front suspension and now moving to the rear. Going to put in new poly bushings, springs, and struts. If I drop the entire rear suspension can I avoid doing the spindle pins? Thanks!

Ok, I finally get around to refreshing my steering gear. Bought the standard TC bushing set from Black Dragon. It appears that the bushings will have a compression preload once they are installed and torqued down. Since the rod is bolted to the transverse link, I am expecting the holes to not line up until the bushings are preloaded. But I've read elsewhere in the forum to not torque them down until the front suspension is under the weight of the car with two 150 lb passengers. The bushing set from Black Dragon comes with 4 rubber bushings 1.029 thick and 2 spacer sleeves 2.013 long. Do I retain all four washers with this set-up? Will the transverse link move easily to ac…

Does anybody ever come across any Bilstein inserts for 240z anymore? I am in search of a full set front/rear. I had a set of Bilstein rears back in the 80's and I loved them. At one point I thought there were shorter ones available that would fit with a spacer in the bottom? I'm also looking for stiffer springs, but not too stiff. Any suggestions? I don't really want to do coilovers, or cut my struts, and I'm not racing, but want something stiffer than stock. Right now I'm running 225/60/14 on my old slot wheels and getting tire rub in the back when hard bumps or cornering happens. Thanks, Steve

Hey mates While driving back home from work today I was forced to brake hard on the freeway (basically went from 75 to 30 in a rather short distance). When I reapplied the gas my car jerked, as if one of the wheels was loose. Confused I braked hard a few more time (making sure no one was near by) and long and behold the car does the same thing again. The best way I can explain this is the car literally jerks to the left when I reapply the gas. When I got home I pulled the front wheels off. The drivers side seems quite normal with no movement, but the passenger's side I can move the wheel a few inches in each direction (left and right) as if the rack has a LOT of play. Any…

Hi, A lot of folks lower your car. In order to lift up, you might need some low profile ramp. I notice that low profile ramp is quite expensive. This race ramp cost more than $200. Those ramp are around $40, but it's not low profile. I googled and find a lot of people DIY ramp. some metal version. Those looks professional build. I might end up with.... Once finish using it.... What low profile ramp do you use???
