I just bought a set of Tokico HP shocks from AJ-USA, INC., San Diego for my 72 240Z: Front: Tokico HZ 3015 $62.69 Rear: Tokico HZ 3016 $64.18 This is much cheaper than Victoria British or MSA and the shipping was free. Received the shocks in 6 days via FedX after order was placed. Contact: www.ajusa.com 1-800-877-1911 Miles

I'm the proud one-owner of a 1977 280Z and I looking for a little input from other Z owners. One of the few things that always seemed strange to me is how "big" the steering (lock to lock) seemed to be on the 280Z. I've driven and owned lots of sportscars (currently have a Honda S2000 also) and they almost all seemed to have a quicker more precise steering feel to them. I've done a search of our website and read everything I could find on changing to the MSA/NISMO quick steering knuckles. Even after reading everything I'm not sure if changing them out would push the steering to far the other way (ie: make it to twitchy for normal street driving). Since 95% of my drivi…

Hi I've been refreshing a 1972 240z and want to replace some worn bushings. All of the bushings in my Z have pretty much had it. For instance, If I wiggle the front sway bar it will move about a half inch back and forth. I want to replace all of them with Urethane bushings, but I have a few questions. 1. How hard is the job? Refreshing this Z is the first car project I have ever done and I don't want to end up damaging the car. 2. Is there any special tools (read: expensive) required for doing the job? 3. Does the job require more than one person to do? 4. Is the MSA master urethane bushing kit the best kit? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

  6. Search turned up nada; FSM, Haynes and How to Rebuild turned up nada. I don't have the appropriate sized sockets or wrenches. I am going to buy 2 of this size. I have sockets up to 17 mm and I specifically bought a 27 mm socket so I could turn the engine manually. I have two rachets, a complete set of box wrenches, a breaker bar and a torque wrench. What I don't have are the larger size sockets hence my question. Thanks.

Have any of you shopped the GC spring adjusters for a 73 240Z lately? If so where did you find the best price on em? I just want to buy the sleeves and spring collars, will have the springs custom wound locally. Found a set on ebay with springs for $377, so I think I should be able to get them without the springs for around $200. Any advice appriciated, Thanks.

I am trying to sort out my newly acquired 240Z. I have a long list of issues, concerns and problems. I'm up to he steering. The steering is So stiff on this car. In fact, I recently got it running really well and decided to drive it around a little this weekend. The steering is SO stiff that after simply manuvering it in and out of my garage, turning around in my drive way a few times and some local driving, (no more than 10 miles),..my hands and wrist are so sore this morning I may have trouble working today. It takes all you can muster up to turn the steering wheel on this car. What can cause this and what do I need to do to remedy the situation?

  9. Started by red dragon,

I just replaced my rubber steering coupler with a urethane. I noticed that the steering wheel began to shake at roughly 65 - 75 mph. Did I install it improperly, have anyone else encountered this issue. Or is something else causing this problem?

Hey guys, I have a '74 260Z that I've been working on for close to a year now. I've just been tinkering with the L26, even though it's shot. Anyways, if it makes much difference, there's gonna be an L28ET in there instead. I want to convert it to PS. Is it basically a swap from the 280ZX or am I gonna have to fabricate parts and cut holes and stuff... Thanks for the help!

  11. Started by ea6driver,

So tonight's' job involved installing new spindle pins into the rear strut assemblies. The question I have is...how tight/loose is an acceptable fit for the spindle pin in the strut housing hole? I tried reaming/cleaning out the inside of the hole passage by wrapping some sand paper around a dowel rod and passing it through the hole a few minutes. Then I greased up the pin real good. I can get the pin to pass through the hole, but only by tapping it with a hammer. It's so tight that the only way I can pull it out is by clamping down on the pin with vice grips and working it back and forth real good. I guess I'm really thinking I need to ream out the hole a little mor…
