Hello all! I'm refreshing the underside of my '71 Z and after reading lots of posts on here I have a simple questions.. Should I order parts from Motorsport or Zcarsource (or another, better source)? The price of the parts differs quite a bit (bearings, seals, brake lines/pads, etc..) and I know you get what you pay for but can anyone offer me advice or steer me in the correct direction? Is one source better or more reliable than the other? Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

So, I have a rear sway bar and a 1" front sway bar that I bought a long time ago. At the time "cornering like it was on rails" sounded like a good idea. Now that I am putting my car back together I wonder if there is much to be gained by doing this. The car will be a weekend driver and the odd trip to ZCON ( I hope). My days of spirited driving are long gone. Is this still a good idea or will it the suspension be too stiff to enjoy the ride?

Hi everyone, I purchased a 71 z prod date 03/71. It sat in a field for a few years and there is a lot to do. I got it running fairly well, considering her age. I've replaced the clutch slave to get her to shift ok. Now, I'm working on the brake system. I'm in the process of putting the front hub assemblies back on with new wheel bearings/new rotors/new calipers/new hoses and hard lines and I failed to keep track of which original hub was driver side and which was passenger side. Does it matter? I've seen a couple of references saying they are different. If so, how can I tell? Thanks for all the great information on this forum. Zupreder

Is this the way this should be put back together. I can't tell from manuals. I thought i put them in the right series when i was working on it, but i must not have. The way i had them before, the side rod bar wouldn't tighten up. How tight should the side rod bar be? The bar with the ball on the end. It has the measurement in the manuals. Something like .22 or something. But how tight is that? Should the bar stick straight out when tightened or be able to flop around a little, having a little play? Does the locknut go in the middle? Any help? Thank you very much, TimsZ

Anyone installed one those electric power steering columns in their 240Z? I talked to a guys who had one installed in his 260Z. I think he got the speed-sensitive adjustable version for about $2000. He said it made a night and day difference.

I did a bunch of searches using different text and could not find any threads regarding repairing cracked "wood" on the steering wheel. I have a series 1 wheel and when I removed the cheesy wheel cover I found these cracks. My thought was to fill them with some stained epoxy. I am just not sure how that would work out especially the the spoke meets the "wood". It looks like the rust goes under the "wood" and I expect would keep rusting and splitting the connection. I saw a lot of posts for cleaning the "wood" and repainting the spokes. Just no repairs for this. Any input would be great. Thanks

Another suspension question. I'm putting new strut inserts all around. I went with the KYB's. Question is... Should I fill the void in the strut tube with an oil or not? I know there are lots and lots of discussion about such things, but what's the current prevailing thoughts? I know that KYB says not to, but what's the downside? Other than voiding potential warranty returns (which isn't going to happen anyway), what would such downside be?

My right rear tire is wearing noticeably faster than any of the other tires. Probably 30% faster wear than the drivers side. The car tracks straight, I can take my hands off the wheel and go for quite a distance before it moves to the side of the lane. I almost never spin the tires but will slide it a bit on some corners. The only thing I can think of is to get the alignment checked but since the rear doesn't have any adjustments and it tracks straight I wasn't sure how much good that would do. The bushings all seem solid and there isn't any noticeable play in the wheel. On my last tire replacement the same one was worn a bit more than the left but not this much so it s…

Is it even possible? By possible, I mean is it plausible, and please no one say, "With enough money, anything's possible..." I know. Just wondering if the goodies from another Z can be swapped in. I think it would fit nicely with my "modernization" theme. That is, if I can get my *@#@*($ blower working...

I mentioned in another recent post that I'm "freshing-up" the front suspension on my 76 with new bushings, etc. Like most everyone else, I'm kind of shopping around to get the best deal. It seems RockAuto has the best price on many items like rack and pinion bellows, control arm bushings, etc. So tonight my new rack and pinion bellows arrive, Raybestos SPR 4301010B. The problem is that the large end is significantly too big so that there is no way I can get a snug fit. They supply one of those slip ties but there is no way it will snug it up. Obviously, having well fitting/sealed ones to keep water and dust out is rather important. Anyone know where I can get better fitt…
