Are these steering wheels not supposed to shake violently? The ones I had in my earlier days would shake cigarettes out of my hand. Those poly bushings are great.

Has anyone ever heard of Quikor Springs? My '71 was modified in the early '80s, and I have the advertisement that the previous owner saw when he bought the car (so, the modifications that were done two owners ago). It says "Quikor Springs, lowered, KYB gas struts." All I can find is 'Quickor' (http://www.quickorgarage.com/springs.htm) but there's no Datsun specific info; their products for the Z are just sway bars. The photos make the springs look progressive based on my very limited knowledge of... well, springs. Anyway, the suspension is probably 30 years old so it's time to replace it regardless, but I'd just never heard of these springs. Anyone have a full Illumin…

This is out of my 75 280z. Before cleaning it up, I noticed it appears as if one side is upside down from the other. Is this correct? Everything was completely stock on this car when I bought it, and as I removed the entire rear sub-frame, it appeared as if it had never been removed before. Plus the car didn't sit funny. So my guess would be it is correct, but I'd like a more educated guess. Thanks guys. Scotty

I hate to bring this up but just need to know the correct methodolgy on these bushings. I used my digital caliper and as I rotate the caliper around the bar near the mount it shows 18.8 - 19.5mm (the bar is not perfectly round), this would lead me to believe I need 19mm bushings. However when I look up in the catalogs 19mm is skipped, it goes 18, 20, 21, 22, 23. So should I get 18 or 20mm? Thank you!

Put the new poly bushings in the steering rack mounts and the rack itself moves some (too much) when the steering wheel is moved. Asked a buddy about his project and he had the same results. Surely this can't be correct? Anyone have it happen to them? What was the 'fix' Leonard

I am planning in a couple weeks to lower my 78 280z with the Tokico Springs and blue shocks. I will be ordering some bump steer spacers for this as well. I will also upgrade the swaybars with SuspensionTechniques sway bar kit. 1) I have reading alot of posts regarding camber change after they are installed and that is not adjustable. How severe is the camber? What will the effects be on drive quality? 2) I have also read that I should snag a set of 240 strut mount insulators for the rear so the butt doesnt stick up in the air . My car runs straight as a pin with little vibration - no complaints. By lowering this and getting an alignment I should be back to normal …

Went and pulled the mustache bar today, as i had received the bushings for it in the mail, and have the nice long weekend to work on it. Burned out the old rubber, and cleaned everything up. Left the metal sleeve from the old busing in there. From what i can tell, the lip on that metal should have been pushed out, but in the case of mine, its been pushed in. I can push the bushing in on one side, but not on the other. I can take a photo if needed, but think of it as knurled in, rather than out. I'm at a loss now, as i have no idea what to do to get the bushings in now. I hear rumors there are factory original ones out there, but without a press, its kinda hard to remov…

I've recently started working on a '76 that's been parked for 10 years. After 10 years, there is a lot of work to be done, but the reason it was parked in the first place were the bad struts. The last time I did struts I think I was 10 years old helping my dad on an '81 280ZX. I'm planning on doing it this weekend, so I looked at the FSM and that made the whole process about as clear as mud . It makes it look like I have to remove the whole assembly, but I'm fairly certain that that isn't the case. Also, it doesn't talk about compressing the springs, which I'm pretty sure I'll want to do if I value my life. Am I just looking in the wrong place in the FSM? Any Pointers…

I have a late 260. I have owned it about 6 months and ran the tires that came on it until hot weather got here. They had just a little cracking showing around the rim so I got new tires. I was leery of a blow out in the 100 degree Ms heat. My tire shop cannot get the frontend to align with the new tires on it. There is a terrible steering wheel shake that starts about 45 mph. He has aligned the front end and spin balanced the tires a couple of times. I have mag rims on it and not original wheels. Today he put new lug nuts on it that were supposed to help center the wheel better on the studs but that didn't help at all. The tie rod ends are all ok and they have been grease…

So I just pulled the Z out of her Winter storage spot in the garage and fired her up. With my dad's help, we got her running better than she ever has. From when I purchased her in October of 2007, until October of 2010 she was my DD @ college. She did right by me through those years and now that she's no longer on DD duty, it's time a do right by her. First thing up is a suspension refresh. There's roughly 75k miles on her over these 42 years and I'm pretty sure all of these bushings are original. I'll be doing this piecemeal because the wife is still in school and my funds are limited. But this rubber needs to be replaced. And it's getting replaced with rubber, as I pre…

Bought a set of urethane bushings from prothane for my 72 240 manual. They are about an 1/8 inch in diameter to small. Bought a set from Energy Suspension. They too are an 1/8 too small. Pulled a different mount from a parts car. Same thing. All of the other bushings for the car were very tight fit (Energy Suspension kit). Am concerned these are going to allow more movement than necessary. Anyone have similiar issues or perhaps a remedy? Thanks, Leonard
