I have a 1971 240z and I installed the Eibach springs, and the kyb shocks, and now the front end is sitting to high will this set-up work, or do you have to cut the front springs ? I installed the kyb front shocks 361002 on the front and the back 361001 the Eibach spring for the front is the long spring and the short one goes in the back I was told that MSA is this the way it should be ? Thanks

I have been dealing with a clunking noise in the rear for a while, not to be confused with a diff clunking noise. I have been doing a lot of searching and I kept coming back to the strut loose, so I took it all apart today. Looking at the gland nut it looked like it was seated well, but when I grabbed it ,I could turn it by hand:ermm: Well I knew I found my issue, but why was it loose? After taking out the shock, I screwed the gland nut down on the empty strut I could see that the nut was running out of thread. So I popped in a washer to space it out and bingo, the gland nut is actually doing it's job now. No more clunking over bumps:)

I'm about to pull the trigger on buying new struts and springs for my 78 280z. I've pretty much made the selection of an Illumina Strut with the Tokico springs. I've found a couple of sources for the combos, but it's hard to tell if they are really reputable on the net. I would appreciate any good references that members have had with any vendors that sell the combos. The ones I have found are http://www.autocarparts.com/part/list/262/ http://performance.importrp.com/tokico/tokico_spring/shock_kit_ilk/toilk254/i-526785.aspx http://www.silverminemotors.com/Tokico-ILK-Suspension-Kit-Tokico-ILK-Suspension-Kit.htm;jsessionid=07BA1125A9C680E0A49790F9BC980166.qscstrfrnt01 http:…

Amigos, I've got a line on some lightly used and inexpensive KYB Gr-2 inserts. The seller thinks they should work fine in my '78 280z, though he thinks I'll have to use my existing gland nuts due to the size difference (48mm vs 52mm?). So, to make a long question short: If I get these, will my gland nuts be compatible (if they are salvageable) and will the spacers be the correct ones? I'd hate to save a hundred bucks (or more, I don't have a price from him yet) just to go and spend it again in time and effort chasing down loose parts. Thanks in advance, - Paul

Last year I installed Eibach springs and Tokico Illumina struts on my 240z. The ride hieght looks nice and it rides and handles great springs on the street. I finally got my car road and track worthy this year so I've started doing autox events. Now that I have learned to navigate the cones more aggressively, I think the spring rate is too soft for my taste. I would also like to lower it another 1/2" or so to get more camber out of the front end. Is there a linear coil higher rate spring available for a stock strut assembly (non-coil over)? If I cut the progressive section of the Eibach spring to lower the car a bit more, would that have any effect on the spring rate…

Well in an effort to get my Z ready for a rally I decided to address the tired front suspension... In particular the Ball Joints, Outer Tie Rods, sway bar bushings, T/C rod bushings, and control arm bushings. Things started off nice enough... All bolts came off with no issues. I still have to remove the steering knuckle, but I am sure an impact wrench will make quick work of it. Well I had the OEM bushings pressed out the of the front control arms and immediately hit a snag. One of these things is NOT like the other... Well DRAT! They look like they came from two totally different cars in this picture. I have no idea which one is right for my car. The lef…

Have the MSA rear sway bar, looking to install in my 70 240Z with 83 ZX 5 speed and R200 diff, with the Arizona Z mustache bar. Has not had rear sway bar before and I don't have instructions about mounting correctly. Looked through prior posts but didn't see anything about installing with my circumstances. Any written instructions with diagrams out there that someone could send me? Will contact MSA Monday, but figured someone has done this before and knows the best way to do this. Thoughts? Thanks!

I had bought these spings on ebay as an impulse buy for $52. bucks thinking what the heck. The seller said they were bought by a friend of his in the mid 80s for a 71z, (mine is a 10/70 build) from Impact Auto in NY. They have markings on the boxes that have an "F" with a 12 and what looks to be a part number and the other has a "R" with 12.5 with what looks to be a part number. I called Impact and they have no way of cross referencing the numbers since there so old. So I guess my next step would be take them to a muffler/shocks/brake shop and see if they can test for the spring rate and size. So I guess my questions were, do these yellow springs look familiar to anyone? …

Loosen the big locknut, tighten the plug with the "X" in it with a big screwdriver, turn wheel side to side till it feels right? Is there anything else to it? Did it make a noticeable difference when you did it?

i am begining the process of replace my R180 w/a R200. I was able to get all the piece parts to start the process however my rear sway bar is aftermarket and it bolts to the plates that come down to secure the rear part of te A-Arm. Its a ST bar i bought a while back. With the R200 being a whole bigger it seems that the 280 parts wont allow the bar to bolted to its current location. i'd hate to have to buy a rear bar that bolts to the chassis directly since this one is clean. Has anybody ever had this issue when doing a R200 swap?

I have a set of Euro Springs I bought 15 years ago, and everything I've read says I need to cut them. However, looking at the specs for the standard and euro springs, I shouldn't have to. Here are the specs I have for both: I could not get the table to format properly. I hope you can still make sense of it.
