Hello all, I have a question for all the suspension experts out there. I'm considering switching struts on my car and located another set of struts that I'm going to change. Today I pulled the struts on my car and I compared the old vs the new and noticed the new struts I plan to switch to have slightly more angle. Could someone tell me if the angle of the replacement struts will be an issue? Attached below are some pictures of two struts. Thank you all in advance.

I know the 240z is lighter and thus would be more nimble than a 260z. However how much of a difference is it? I have read the steering ratio is tighter on a 240z. I am working to find a clean 240z for $5K - $7K. There are none in TX but seems to be plenty along the west coast in CA and OR. I am trying to determine if the extra money for a 240z is really worth it from a handling and performance stand point. I am planning on using the car just cruise around town, no auto-crossing is in my future. Thank you!

Next up for my car is suspension. My Z is a daily driver, Seattle potholes are proving that my suspension is toast. I am not looking to turn my car into a track racer and I will be keeping the original springs, not lowering it. So for now I am writing up a list of what I will need before I start: struts, strut boots (mine are in shreds), bushings. I could go with urethane or rubber or a mix. I know this is a common beginning enquiry, But for now I am just pre planning and making up a shopping list, I figure the more I plan ahead the more money I will save in the long run. Anyhow I figured that my Z when new probably had great handling and suspension to begin with so g…

I'm running eibach progressive rate springs on my 77 280. Need to replace the struts. Will the KYB GR-2's work with the lower springs? What would you recommend?

I just finished replacing both outer tie rod / track rod ends and rack and pinion boots. I bought all teh parts from Black Dragon. My concern is the quality of the tie rod ends. The ends do not have grease zerks nor a plug to put one in. Even more concerning,..the threaded part of the end does not have a hole for the cotter pin. They come with a Ny-lock nut instead of a castle nut with pin. Has anyone had any experienmce with these parts?

has anybody used these tension rods ? and if so can you give a report as to pros and cons. looking to be able to adjust my caster .I only found these so far .there rods bolt up metal to metal on frame support , no bushings used . I do not know if this is bad as far as feed back in steering wheel or does it not make any difference between using a urthane bushings ,or the metal on metal the way these bolt on to frame thanks kully

About three years ago, I replaced my springs and struts. After nearly three years, first one side and then the other developed a random thunk associated with going over bumps. I read up enough to guess that it was because the strut cartridge was moving vertically in its tube, either because the gland nut wasn't tight, or there weren't enough spacers in the tube. I dropped the rear suspension, and took a look. The gland nut was tight, but it was cranked all the way down. While the strut seemed tight in the tube, I found no spacers in the tube. I just didn't think you needed them back when I did the job. I put spacers in the tube, cranked the gland nut back on tight,…

So I jacked up my Z on the drivers side the other day to inspect the tie rod boot (which turned out to be fine) in attempt to diagnose some high speed steering wheel shimmy. After setting the car down and jumping in I immediately noticed the steering wheel was off to one side. Upon driving I found there to be almost no steering recoil after making a turn. I turn the wheel, let go, and it stays in that position without returning to center. After some research I found this to be a common symptom of bad/worn lower ball joints - so I replaced them with MSA pieces. Unfortunately the new ball joints did not solve the problem. My next step is to look at the tie rods or rack bush…

I have read around the net that when running coil overs you should install the bump steer spacer set. Is this also true when running the 1" drop from the Tokico struts and springs on the 240? Just want to make sure I have all the correct parts before I re assemble. Thanks

Ok well while I have my whole rear end out off the car I decided to install my tokico springs and struts. I only have a few questions. In blues writeup I noticed a rubber space between the top spring perch and the upper strut insulator. I did not notice the rubber spacer he mentioned unless it was jammed up in the insulator. My question is does the 240 have this part like the 280 does? Also my rear suspension is still attached to the diff as I removed it all in one piece and it is sitting on a table. When I tightened everything up it was still loose like the fronts were in blues write up. Are they loose because the cars weight is not on them or because I am missing the …
