I am rebuilding the front suspension on my 1980 280ZX and having a hard time finding a cross link bar that is affordable. Autozone has one listed for $449.00. Does anybody know where I can find a cross link for less?

Looking to replace the struts on my '78 and am a bit confused on what I'm finding. Some packs have 4 shocks (https://www.ebay.com/itm/353183501677?epid=1529958043&hash=item523b608d6d:g:LlcAAOSwv8ZfR-a3) and some have 2 struts and 2 shocks (https://www.ebay.com/itm/232991315727?epid=1540516460&hash=item363f5d570f:g:4lwAAOSwaPpb3Qib). Any idea which pack I need, how much of a pain it is to change these, and thoughts on the KYB ones?

As part of what will probably be a multi-year effort to get my 04/71 240Z back on the road, I'm cleaning up the front suspension. I've removed the struts from both sides and got a little help from a local garage to remove the springs. Since the attached picture was taken, I've removed the gland nuts and old cartridges (they were the Made in Venezuela type that I've seen mentioned in this forum). The combination of crowbar and 24" pipe wrench can be quite persuasive. I'm going to replace the cartridges, but while I'm waiting for those, I'll clean everything up and would like to paint/coat things before re-assembling. Last summer I cleaned up the gas tank and POR-ed it…

Hi, I just removed the front suspension and steering from my 1977 280Z. Afterwards, I found a washer with following dimensions: Inner Diameter: 12mm Outer Diameter: 40mm Thickness: 9mm I am in the process of a complete tear-down so that I can send the body away for blasting. It could be possible that this part does not belong to the front suspension, but I'm pretty sure that it was not on the floor when I started the disassembly. Does anybody know where this belongs to? Thank you. Jagoblitz

Hi Guys. Does anyone know if there is a difference in performance between the T3 and Cusco front strut tower braces? Looking into front strut tower braces and was leaning towards the T3 tri mount setup since I need to replace my hood latch assembly anyways and theirs mounts up to the stock latch. My only confusion was that they include an option to use their own home built front brace, or to use the Cusco front brace. Anyone know if there is a performance benefit? Or just catering to people with cusco bars already installed? https://technotoytuning.com/nissan/280z/z-front-tri-bar-add

This is frustrating. I’ve been fighting these ends links for some time. Gave up a few weeks ago to to finish up the engine install work but I need to put this suspension bits to rest. I bought theses End Link/bushing set from MSA. They seem too short. I looked at previous threads with people having similar problems but those solutions don’t solve mine. Jacking up the strut won’t change the dynamics here. The bolts are either too short or the sleeve in the middle of the end links is too long. I can either buy a bolt 1/2” longer or shave the sleeves down a bit on a grinder. Shaving the inner sleeve will change the sway bar geometry but a longer bolt has no con…

I am new to this site. I have a 1972 240Z. I am replacing some rear suspension/drive train bushings. I removed the transmission mount cross member, the differential front mount cross member and the mustache bar and I am replacing bushings and mounts in these components. I have a couple of questions: I installed new bushings, sleeves and large washers on the mustache bar. What is the torque setting for the mustache bar bolts. I suspect you tighten the nuts until the large washers are fully seated against the bushing sleeves. Is this correct or is there a specific torque? There is an "arrester belt" that straps over the differential housing near the front of …

Anyone still making a tool? I contacted zcardepot and they are not sure when they will be in stock again. I also posted on hybridz but no replies yet.

I am trying to source a transmission crossmember of this style: I only found one thread on this transmission crossmember (I'm probably blind), but I am curious to find more information on it: 1. What year(s) does this transmission cover? 2. Do transmission isolators work with all the three types? 3. Are there bushings (stock or energy) still available? The other two types, for both manual and auto, I have seen (I currently have the one on the right): If anyone has one they'd like to either donate or sell, I'd be ever grateful

Decided to rebuild the front and rear suspension on my 73 Z. Decided to splurge and buy the Koni Yellows, and Eibach progressive springs. Going mostly rubber bushings instead of poly since it's mainly for pleasure driving. Going to tackle the front first. I wasn't planning on dropping the subframe, but couldn't remove the lower control arm bolts without hitting the rack. Made a couple metal bars and used the anti-sway bar bracket bolt holes to support a piece of wood, which held the engine up resting on the oil pump. Easier than dragging out my engine lift. Sand blasted the subframe and repainted. I used poly bushings for the rack mounts. …

I hate to start a new thread over something so (seemingly) trivial, but I've search all over and cannot find anything. I'm replacing most/all of the bushings in my 280z. Some I'm doing urethane, some I'm retaining rubber. It's a street car and I don't want it to be unbearable. Anyway, I cannot find a rubber transmission crossmember bushing anywhere. Only polyurethane - and this is one area I definitely want to avoid urethane. Any help is appreciated.
