We have all had the conversation on what tires fit what cars. Things like if the car is lowered, what size rims are on the car, etc all make a difference. I was wondering if the position of the front tires in the wheel well has any affect on this. Take for instance my car... You notice the front wheels are pushed to the front of the wheel well. I would think this is adjustable with the TC control rods. But I have noticed that some of the 240Zs on this website have the wheels dead center in the wheel well. Both my wheels are equally like this, and I know it has never been severely wrecked. Is this normal? Or should I take another look at my TC rods to see if I…

Anyone know of a source for a new lower washer (with the rubber on it) for the mustache bar on a 73? I want to replace the bushings and don't want to go with urethane and it appears the lower washer piece is discontinued. Trevor New Z Site in full operation: http://www.240Z.me

People are yelling at me in the last week or two that the one rear wheel (left rear) is loose/wo, and it wasn't. I just got two rear tyres on, so I had the tyre guy check the tyre & wheel for true-ness. He tells me the wheel & tyre are right on, so we even tried turning the brake drum 1/4 turn twice to see if the drum was funny. Apparently, that was not the reason for wheel "wobble." Is it common for the wheel hub to be bent? The drive shafts were recently R&R'd, so could that throw the wheel off if it wasn't installed right? The other side is just fine, and it got a new stub axle & bearing. The only thing left would be to replace the one bearing …

Hey All, While I have the suspension out and replacing more bits and bobs on the car, I decided to refresh the rotors and brakes while changing the shocks and springs. I went to install some new 240z rotors I picked up but they are much taller in the hat then the old rotors I have. After looking around here and hybridz I am wondering if I have had my hubs replaced by 280z hubs some where in the cars life, or that I have the wrong new rotors. How I can tell the difference? The photo below show the difference in rotor hat sizes, even taking into account the wear of the rotor~2mm or so the hat is ~8-10mm taller than the old one. I am wondering if I had 280z rotors on the ca…

Everyone said I would need the strut compressor for the front springs, didn't need it, not even close. I put in the strut cartridge, tightened down the gland nut. Installed boot and new bump stop. Put on strut on the strut hat or cap, whatever it is called. Installed whatever that bearing does inside the strut mount, put strut mount on strut cap. Installed 17mm strut nut and tightened down. Eibach spring is still loose with no pressure from strut hat on top of eibach. I have to push down on strut mount for cap to make contact with spring. I have the ######.1 part number on the front too. Prior posts said others needed the strut compressor for the front, hell I can't …

I am putting my suspension back together with the energy suspension kit and I am about to install the rear sway bar. I thought I would just use the bushing from the kit but go back with my OE link. Does anyone foresee any problems with doing so? My car will be lowered with Eibachs if that matters.

Anyone removed the engine cradle before? I want to take it out to media blast and paint and was wondering how safe that is? Can the engine be supported by the bottom of the oil pan? I was thinking of the engine of the oil pan where it attached to the block.

I am planning to replace my soft rubber mushtache bar bushings with urathane bushings I purchased from Motorsport. I have heard some frightening rumors that the old soft rubber bushings have to be heated to be removed completely. Has anyone else heard of this tecnique and, if so, will a propane torch do the job or is and acetaline torch part of the therapy? After some close negotiation with my exhaust system, differential and the lug nuts the local brake shop tightened to tight, I was able to remove the mushtache bar from the car. Upon inspection of the very worn and decaying bushings I thought I would call one of our reputable machine shops and have the original bushi…

I replaced shocks & springs (tokico HP & eibach pro-kit) on all 4 corners as well as replaced the drivers side tie rod. I didn't replace any bushings even though they badly need it (next project when I've got time). The car drives straight on the highway. Should I bother with getting an alignment?
