Hello all. Well ive gotten a rolling chassis because my other 240z is just way to much work (rust). Now that im starting to stockpile parts for the swap im looking at suspension and not finding much help from others who have done the conversion. What sort of work am i looking at as far as fabricating or altering mounts? Are their any kits that will do the job? This will not be a drag car. More of a track/sunday driver. Thanks everyone for being so helpful.

I am going through my 240z steering rack and am in the process of reassembling. I've measured and adjusted the "pinion rotation torque" and the "rack preload" but am having problems understanding the tie rod "swinging torque." The FSM gives the range as 5.8-10.8 ft lbs, but doesn't really explain what you are measuring. So for you suspension experts out there: Am I suppose to tighten the inner tie rod socket assembly so there is no movement until 5.8 ft lbs? If I do this, the tie rod is very difficult to move beyond the small center area. The "grease grooves" in the ball seem to prevent easy movement beyond the small central area. Does the ball move beyond this cen…

Hey All, I know this might be a long shot but with all the wealth of knowledge here I was wondering if someone here might recognise the type of springs these are. I got these from a previous owner a few years back as some parts that he had. As you can see in the pic they are blue and intended for a 240z but there are no other markings on them. I can measure them tonight. I forgot to do it the other day that I dragged them out. Any ideas or is it impossible to tell?

Does Energy Suspension or any other aftermarket company make a transmission mount for the original L26-4 speed combo? Mine is shot and I don't wanna shell out $70 for the factory replacement. I've searched everywhere but came up empty.

Hey All, I am looking at redoing a lot of the suspension I notice a lot of people leave the shock bare. I know that there are shock dust cover to help prevent dirt and dust from getting in. I was wondering what thoughts there are on these? The parts are still available: 54055-N3700 COVER-DUST FRONT SUS 54057-N3700 RING-SNAP DUST COVER I am just wondering why no one uses them? Is it that they are unnecessary? Too expensive? Difficult to install? I know they came for later cars but would make sense to protect the shocks so I am just wondering why people do not use them.

Hi all I'm autocrossing a standard 280zx with standard open 3.7 diff this weekend on dirt and wonder if i should take off the rear sway bar, had a chance to run it last week it went well but tended to spin me out on transitioning from right to left turns. My 240z handles brilliantly with a small fr bar no rear bar and a LSD. I'm Just trying the big 280zx for fun but still want to be competitive

I'm getting ready to install a new set of Tokico blues and I'm on the fence whether to install some Eibach springs or not. Basically I'm looking for input from 240 owners that have lowered with springs and if you have any regrets or not in doing so. Thanks, Will

I have been cleaning up the front suspension on my car and I am missing the dust cover for the tie rod ends. Is there some place I can get just the rubber covers? If there is a difference I have a 76 -280Z. thanks Michael

Ahh, yes! I'm working with Fortune Auto (A 'local' up and coming performance coil-over company) to create a new, affordable, top-quality suspension option for the S30. Fortune Auto coilovers can be found on everything from 'VIP' style cars, to all-out race-winning time-attack cars. Their product has been featured in Import Tuner, and Super Street magazine. Fortune Auto is offering these at a price of $1075, with a 2-3 week wait period- provided there are 10 committed buyers. Of course, these are still not complete- and I'm still working out all the details. All coilovers incorporate a 50mm piston, 30 way damping, fully anodized body, custom rates & a 1 yea…
