On my 72 240Z, I'm installing an R200 diff from an 82 ZX. Will the hardware (mustache bar, etc) needed from a 280Z work from a 77 auto since it has an R180? Thanks!

Hi all, Couple of questions here... I have the rear suspension on the 240z completely torn out (doing the R200 swap). The strut housings and lower control arms are still assembled (at spindle pins). Before I go through the hassles of replacing spindle pins (and potentially wheel bearings), I would like to know if I really NEED TO do this. The pins and bushings seem very tight. The LCA springs back up if I push it down. There does not seem to be any "slop" or "play" in the pin area. I do not know if these have ever been replaced (no info from PO). I have 2 options here: 1 - Bead blast the entire LCA and strut housing and re-paint with POR or Eastwood black. Would leave ev…

Is it at all possible to replace the front and rear control arm bushings without having to remove the whole assembly from the car ? I already removed the strut assemblies from the car a few months ago when i replaced the bearings, brakes. struts, ball joints and tie rods and really do not want to take it all apart again :disappoin

I've been lurking off and on for a few years. My son has a 1971 240Z that he used as a daily driver and then he moved and left the car with me. It's been in storage for about 5 years. He's moved back to Houston and we are going over the car to get it back roadworthy. I'll probably have questions during the process. One I have now is: what size are the front swap bar bolts where it mounts to the frame? Thanks, Dan

The two new tension rod rubber bushings I bought from the local Nissan dealer (and 4 from MSA) are thicker than the originals (see pic) and seem thicker than can be accounted for by the old ones being under compression for a long time. Is that because the new ones were made for people going to the one rubber, one polyurethane bushing install and not for people like me who want to use all rubber with no polyurethane bushings? I am installing these on a 240Z, MFR date 1/70. I wound up with 6 of these bushings because Nissan at first said they didn't have the part and then two showed up later even though I had ordered 4. Maybe I got the last two from somewhere? The Niss…

I just got my baby back from the body shop, and it's beautiful, but after 7 months of not driving it, i was given a strong reminder of just how rough it rides and steers. I know now that i should have done the suspension before the body, but this is my first project and i'm learning along the way. What i'd like to know is, where do i go from here? I don't want (and can't afford) anything really fancy, i just want it to feel smoother. There's a lot of vibration in the front of the car, and the steering wheel shakes like mad when i get up to about 60mph. i got a poly bushing kit and i replaced the steering rack bushings and the column coupler, but that didn't change anyth…

Hey guys, i just bought a set of MSA poly. bushings for my 73 steering rack. I had no trouble getting the old ones out, but now its almost impossible for me to get the new ones in!! they are cut just like the old ones, and when i put them on, they have this HUGE gap between the two ends that should meet!! I'm having a FIT trying to do this job. Does anyone have any ideas as to what i can do? Do i have to have the LCA's off in order to do this? (I got the poly's on so i wouldn't think so.) I am honesly going to just throw these things out and put the old POS's back in! Has anyone tried using these?

Hey guys. In the near future (sometime in October) I'm planning on replacing my dilapidated suspension with new parts. I'm planning on replacing the spring as, well to be honest, if they are in the same condition that the struts are in I'm pretty sure they're not doing the job they were intended to do. Getting straight to the point. Is anyone aware of a place to get stock ride springs? MSA sells springs but they all lower the ride height. (which I'm not really looking to do). Thanks Jan

We have a 1979 Datsun 810 2 Door Coupe and are in need of fronts struts and rear shocks. We live in Houston, Texas and have had no luck. Any suggestions that will not break our piggy bank? Thank you.

Does anyone know if the halfshafts from a 77 280z automatic (which is supposed to have an r180 diff) will drop straight in to my 72 240z? Thanks
