Hi Folks! The answer must be simple, but I haven't found it.... I replaced the steering coupler with polyeurathane one. The steering wheel is now exactly 90 degrees rotated. Simple! I say. I must have the coupler mounted 90 degrees off. So I reverse the coupler, and now it's 90 degrees the other way. The "Z" on the steering wheel turns into an "N" or an upside down "N". Hmmm. Is the coupler asymetric? What did I do wrong?

Hi guys, I just bought my set and figured i'd pass the deal along. 3 sets left. Even if you don't like the Tokico springs, it still comes out cheaper than any store for the Illuminas by themselves. Here's the link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7956794084&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT Jay

Hello all, Well I finally have some time to myself to work on the Z. Started to tear down the rear suspension to sandblast, powder coat and rebuild, but I did not realize I need a spindle puller to remove the spindles. The service manual just says to remove them like they just pull out easily. Yea Right!! After 38 years they seem rusted pretty solid. Doesn't make sense to buy a puller for $150.00 to use only once. Does anybody have a set they can rent me to get mine removed? It seems like it would be cheaper to just drive them out and replace with new for the price of the tool and to only use it one time. Any help would be appreciated. …

OK, my shop can't seem to yet find the problem here. There is a very distinct and loud squeaking that seems to be coming from the front left part of my suspension. It squeaks whenever I hit a bump or start to brake. I am assuming the squeaking happens whenever the weight of the car is forced upon the front of it, or when the tire is pushed up when going over a speedbump. The left side in particular makes that sound. I am planning on changing out all the old bushing for new urethane versions. Not sure if this will cure the problem. My garage has already tried greasing things down there but the squeaking still persists. I've been living with this for a couple years now!!!!…

So from what I have been finding on odd Z web pages is that 260z and up had a iron cast steering rack. With a less fun gear ratio in it! Is this ture? I also see there are no lube points which I have seen on the 240z racks ! are the 240z racks better and do they have a better ratio?

Ok I know we have been through this before, but I want a difinitive answer from a few of you guys (Coffey, Mortenson, et al). Let me start by explaining where I am coming from and where I want to go. When stationed in Italy, I sectioned my struts, and installed GC Coilovers, and Street Prepared camber plates. Spring rates were 175F, 200R. I do not remember the exact cartridge GC sent me but they were Illuminas. I used the car as a daily driver / Auto-x / Track day car. I was also using the GC 1" front bar and the Susp Tech rear bar. I loved the setup but upon return to the states found the ride too jarring. Out came the coilovers, in went stock struts raped from a…

So from what I have found the euro springs seem the best for lowing the car and still having a nice ride! , but they are not around any more? If some one can get me a set H&R will copy them and we can have new ones! If that does not work out what next best Eibach? for sale again at an ok cost! 2nd what about shocks? Adjustable seem the best way to go. Besides koni and TOKICO who else is good ? KYB GR2's always seem to fail or feel like junk to me! Any one every us GABRIEL? 3rd Steering? on my 260z I was hoping to find some kinda grease fitting on the front rack but there is nothing ! Is there some way to get better steering feeling or just take it part and …

My rear control arm bushings will be replaced soon (either by myself or the mechanic). I want to be able to specify which kind should be put in. From what I have read online, they make Rubber (original) and Polyurethane - the latter holding up much better than rubber in the long run. What are the ideal type of bushings to have installed to replace the 33+ year cracked/worn rubber bushings? Input is appreciated. Thanks.

Hey guys - its a bad luck story. Drivin the 280 behind a dump truck - a 6 inch rock drops out and I can't get around it. It hit the bottom of the Z in a half dozen places - I almost cried. Nothing could be done and it seemed cosmetic initially - so I figured just get on with it and drove on to town (after a brief once over on the road side). Anyway - next day, run over a small bump in the road and clunk, clunk. Jacked her up and after some poking around there it is - the bracket containing the D/S sway bar bushing is pulled off. Pretty clean break from the chassis. Anyone seen this befor? Can it just be welded directly back in place. Best method?

I am installing new wheel bearings in my front hubs on a 72 z. My question is what direction does the inner seal face? There is a grove on the seal and i dont know if it faces the engine compartment or towards the wheel. Any help would be appreciated.

Today I was bead blasting a pile of suspension pieces & small parts and came across these modified early steering knuckles. The smaller ball joints were used prior to serial number HLS30-7985 according to the bulletin TS-70-60. So, I figure these were modified early on in 1970, or else who ever did it would have used a later knuckle to match up with the corresponding ball joint with the larger ball stud diameter. Now to figure out what to do with them. Do you think they would be OK to use if they were machined to allow the use of the later ball joints? They sure seem to have been well done. Here's a few pics with them next to some later stock ones.
