I need your advice regarding my '72 240Z. Can't get either of my front end strut inserts out of their strut housing after I removed the gland nut. They should just slip out. They do not. Perhaps they are rusted in? I've saturated them in penetrant, heated the housings with a propane torch, tapped the housings with a hammer, and of course pulled on 'em like crazy. Got any ideas for me, please?

Hello. I bought replacement KYB's 361001 for the rear of my '73 Z. The blown struts are also KYB same number stamped on. Those slide in and out no problem. The new ones refuse to slide in and seize up well before reaching half way. Any help in figuring this out why what should be the same product does not fit would be appreciated.

Hey guys, I have a 240Z 1973, bought it from Germany in February. The previous owner got a electric power steering installed (unfortunately cannot get any knowledge from him..). This power steering was working when I got the car, but now, since I installed some additional gauges and other electrical stuff in the car, it doesn't work anymore.. I found at least one loose (black) wire and automatically thought it is the ground, installed it to the ground, but the power steering still does not work.. A box of it has a sticker saying "easydriveusa.com" on it. Tried to google to find a wiring diagram for it, but no hits what so ever got... Has anyone of yo…

Hello, since I am currently restoring my 1973 240z and the l24 engine will get pulled out I am considering doing some performance mods. I have found that installing a crank with a higher stroke is a common way to get some extra power but i am not sure if it would be smarter to use a regular l28 crank (like the l26 did i believe) or the diesel ld28 crank and if this would even fit/work? Thanks for the help in advance. Greetings from Germany.

Hi all, Recently pass smog test. Been enjoying it every chance I get. Even volunteer to do errands for wife just so I can drive it!!!! I've notice the steering wheel can only make one full circle and the "distance/length" of the tire doesn't cover much. to put it into perspective, I'm having trouble making a 2 lands U-turn. What I mean is the other day I at McDonald's drive through, I had trouble making a right U-turn. My Van and sedan seem able to make a right U-turn quite easily. Of course it inches outside toward the other land a bit, but not as much as the Datsun. I had to back-up a bit in order to make a turn. I had to make a three-point…

Why... BRAND NEW spindle pin from all appearances - can't get it out. Whomever installed this (these - other side was "replaced" as well): A. OVERTIGHTENED the lock bolt B. A little lubricant would have been nice or maybe some ANTI-SEIZE... Now I'm going to have to saw these once perfectly good spindle pins and press the centers out... I can guarantee you that these pins will be mushroomed in the middle because the installer didn't position the pin properly and OVERTIGHTENED the lock pin! PLEASE stop doing that!! I understand that not everyone knows the value of anti-seize but given the level of frustration the spindle pins usually deliver, it sho…

Hey Guys, Replacing old rubber Sway Bar Link Ends this week with new Poly ones. QQ: How flush is the bushing supposed to sit on the sway bar? The old rubber ones contoured to the curve of the metal of the bar, but mostly because they were 43 years old and absolutely shot. As I am tightening the poly ones, they don't have as much flexibility and so they don't align as nicely. I assume this is okay, but wanted to check first before hitting the road. (Disclaimer: Sway bar ends are not tightened in the photos. Took the photo when I first put them in place, but forgot to take a tighted photo before leaving the shop.)

I was wondering if the rear wheel grease catch (the bracket that the wheel studs go through - part 56) can be eliminated without issue? I am also converting the rear brakes to disk if that makes any difference. Second, do you guys feel it's necessary to peen or stake the axle lock nut?

I'm not a suspension guy, and I got a stupid question... What would happen if I were to remove the lower spring perches from the strut tubes and reattach them an inch lower than they were originally? Make that change and nothing else... Put it back together with everything else the same as when it came apart. No adjustable threaded collars. Stock springs with a lowered bottom perch. The whole sprung weight of the car sits in equilibrium on the springs, so with a lower perch, the same weight should compress the same springs to the same length and that would lower the car by an inch, right? And the only down side would be that I would be at greater risk of bottomi…

Okay, so I might be crazy, but what is the correct direction to install the mustache bar on a 1977 280z with the R200? In the service manual, it looks like the bushings are rear facing which is how I installed the bar (see photo below). But in the updated specs on Atlantic Z, it looks like the bushings are forward facing. Which is the correct way to install? Service Manual Atlantic Z Specs
