When driving on the highway today (speed did not seem to matter much 65-75mph), the steering wheel was fine (very little vibration) when going straight, but on long sweepers the steering wheel would shake until straighted out again. It did this on both left and right turns. Any ideas on what this could be?

bushing and mounting brackets. I bought a sway bar from a Z shop near my house and ordered these E.S. bushing and mounting brackets months ago from Summit. I finally got around to installing the larger sway bar today and the mounting brackets do not line up with the bolt holes on my '71 Z? I called Summit and they told me that the brackets are universal, which they meant that I would have to drill holes into my car to make this kit work. "They fit all cars!" :stupid: Yeah, of course if you have to drill. Is that right? Do I really have to drill holes into my car to fit a larger sway bar? It seems aftermarket companies would make upgrading to a larger sway bar a simple pl…

So, I replaced all the front end bushings with poly bushings. I also replaced tie rods, steering coupler with poly, and sway bar. I had the tires balanced and alignment fixed. ( camber is off because of HP struts and Eibach springs. ) Here's the problem. When I'm driving around town at 0-45 mph I get no wiggle in the steering wheel. BUT, as soon as I hit 50 or so I get a pretty violent wiggle and its pretty noticeable. If I try to hold tight to the steering wheel to stop it, as hard as i try it won't. Now, HERE'S THE REALLY WEIRD PART!!! At night almost never happens? What the hell is up with that? And this shake doesn't always happen at the same speeds. Sometimes it …

Well I have struts, and am going to be order springs here soon. Is there anything else that I should order for my suspension swap? Like brushings, spacers, bolts, ect.

I'm in the process of swapping out parts from my two Zs. I recently traded out the front strut assemblies since my old one had fairly new struts on it that I liked. I replaced the lower ball joint at the same time and also swapped out the control arms since the old Z had urethane bushings on it. However I couldn't get the drivers side control arm bolt out on the old Z so I had to cut the bushing out of the control arm that was on it. Since I had purchased new bushings it wasn't a big deal. The problem is on the passenger side wheel the bottom of the wheel now sits about 3/8" in from the top of the wheel. The drivers side is close enough I can't measure the differen…

I installed KYB struts and red Tokico lowering springs on my 1977 280 a few weeks ago and the height is equal all around, sits well. The problem is the car seems very bouncy and seems to wander or dart over uneven pavement. I haven't had the front end aligned or toe in adjusted. The strut assembly has the spacers at the bottom for lower springs. I counted the threads on the outer tie rod ends and the passenger side had 10 threads from the lock nut and the driver side was at 6. I had not changed any of the other front end parts like ball joints or tie rods when replacing the springs. I moved only the passenger side in to match the driver side count and now steering wheel …

I have a 1978 280z. I'm currently trying to change from rubber bushings to urethane bushings. I am working on this car trying to learn how to do things on my own. I can't seam to find any how to sites that will answer my questions. I bought the bushing kit from motor sport magazine, but it didn't come with any instructions. So if anybody can offer some kind of guide that would be great for a new enthusiast.

Has anyone done this? I saw some posts when i searched saying should be possible but no one said it has been done. The reason I post this is I know a little old lady (really) who has a 78 280Z she has owned since it was new but she can no longer cope with the steering. (hey we are all going to get old). She hates to give up the car. I've got a steering unit complete off a 83 turbo car and some guys in the club would help if it is doable. Any help would be appreciated.

The engine is out of my 1970 240Z and I noticed the steering universal joint has a small amount of wear. I would like to replace it but cannot find any one who has one. The manufacturer is Torrington and the part number is NSA0240A. I called the Torrington rep who said these UV joints are only sold in Japan. NISSAN does not sell them anymore. can anyone help?? Thanks RobertH Florida
