I have done my research and I have a couple of questions. 1. If I am replacing my springs, shocks and struts should I replace all my bushings and serviceable u-joints as well? (basically - the same old while its open, might as well replace) 2. I would like to purchase a complete set of struts and springs, but I am confused about the setup of after-market sets. I do not want to lower my car by 1 to 1.5 inches. I have larger tires on the car and there is only a 2 to 3 inch gap from the top of the tire to the fender. Passenger side rear tire hits fender when at high speed and there is bump in road. It sounds like the tokico setup is ok, but I do not want to lower my c…

I am working on replacing struts and springs on my rear suspension and am having an issue getting started. The fronts were nasty but not that bad. However the rears have what appears to be an anomolie. The transverse link bolt is supposed to have a lock bolt. Sounds easy enough, right. What we found was a nut. Upon removal of said nut the threads were left with no way to remove the headless bolt to release the transverse link bolt. If no solution is found we'll just button it up and let the pros have at it. So, the question is: what's the best way to get that transverse link bolt Oughta' there. What Gives????

I am just about to order an Energy Suspension kit for my 76 280. I am replacing all of the suspension bushings from front to rear. I would like to hear from those that have purchesed this kit, what else would be left for me to order, to replace all of the bushings on a Z? Or does this kit come complete with nothing left to buy.

Quick question for you guys I'm looking into buying a 1973 240z with about 240k miles on it. The suspension has yet to be touched as far as I know but seemed to work fine when I drove it around the block a couple of times. There is no rust on the arms or any crud like that so how long do you think they will last (any kind of estimate is great just want a general idea) and how much to replace when the time comes? Thanks

I have relocated the diff using a 260Z mustache bar. My original setup only had one rubber mount stopper, upper and lower, on each end. These stoppers are basically solid rubber. The VB catalog shows double stoppers, upper and lower. Their upper stoppers are wavy (poor description) in the catalog, page 91. I have two of these in a spares box at home but it appears I need two more??? I noticed that the drain plug is blocked by the crossmember. If these extra spacers were in place that plug would be accessible. The only issue then would be if the mounting bolt is long enough the accomodate the extra spacers. Can somebody clear this up for me? Can someone provide pictures of…

I have a '83 280zx and my ujoint that is connected to the differential is worn and viberating. I was told that I can not replace just the u joint and that I would have to replace the entire shaft from the transmission to the differential. I'm looking for help and a place that I might be able to get that part at. Thanks, Troy

I just got my car back from the shop today and we had them install new ball joints and tie rods since they were extremely worn out. I can't believe the improvement this made on it! It handles, corners and drives atleaste 10 times better than before when the steering wheel used to shake off and on. We took home the old ball joints to take a look at them and there was a lot of play in them so it was a good thing we had them replaced.

The Tension Compression Rod... Where is it...?? :paranoid: I swear, I've looked up and down the front suspension of my car and looked all through my manual, but I can't find it! Does anyone have a pic of "exactly" where it is..? :stupid: I'll admit, I'm a bit of a n00b still with mechanics but I'm trying. I'm having probs with my Z drifting to one side "all" the time. I'm thinking the outer tie rods need to be replaced.. and possibly new struts. Just going to replace the tie rods for now and the sway bar bushings and new tires. Which need to be renewed badly.. Here's a pic of her. It sucks to be on a budget... My car deserves so much more. >.<

Anyone have an R180 that they are getting rid of? I am looking for one to replace the noisy one in my 240 before I loose my mind. Any more that is... Thanks for replies, this thing is about to drive me nuts and I don't need it failing on the road.

There is a great deal on craigslist for front and rear sway bars for a 280zx from Motor Sport Auto. Would these work on my 240Z?

And first of all, let me apologize for a sorta repost here.... Been travelling around in the Z, it seems that when I accelerate I can feel the rear of the car want to move over to the right and upon deceleration, it seems to go to the left, almost as if it has a degree of rear-wheel steering... I swear that when it's tracking down the road I can feel the rearend following the road grooves a bit. Has anyone else experienced this? My initial guess is that the control arms are possibly moving to and fro on worn bushings? Or possibly the Moustache bar bushings? It seems that my experience with moustace bar bushings has been more of a upward downward movement issue. Anyone w…
