Hi Gang: If you have a new KYB GR2 shock cartridge for the FRONT of your 240-Z (KYB #361002) - that is not yet installed in your car; could you please extend the piston rod to it's fully extended length. Then measure the distance from the top of the cartridge to the tip of piston rod. Likewise the rear #361001 Likewise the Tokico's... Let me know what you find..... thanks, Carl B.

hi people, I just switched the springs back/front, after I almost destroyed the car accidentally, I managed to mount them BUT the damn strut mount failed! I need to buy a new one, or rather two.. the matter is, the 280Z has higher strut mounths than a 240Z by almost an inch, and I know that people used to switch them for lowering a 280Z or lifting a 240Z's rear.. I have ST springs, the gap betwenthe fender's arc's are almost the same, will it be a good idea to use 240Z's strut mounts? I don't like the rear looking high as it is now, I'm asking mechanically, the is no bad points on using them? another thing, on VB, the part number of a 240Z's mounts are all the same front/…

Does anyone have any pictures of the rear sway bar from MSA? I would like to see how it is mounted. I already have the bar and I was trying to place it to see where I needed to drill the mounting holes. One problem is that the exhaust is in the way. The other is that it doesn't "look" like it will work without some interference somewhere. Things are pretty tight in there. I would like to know exactly what I need to do before cutting the exhaust down. Thanks in advance. P.S. I did search, no pics were available.

Steering clunk and Pulling Left 72 240Z I have replaced the steering rack with a remanufactured unit from the Steering Store. The steering rack came with new inner tie rods. I have replaced the outer tie rod ends and ball joints. The car was aligned after the the parts were replaced. There is still a clunk coming from the left inner tie rod where it connects to the steering rack when I have someone move the steering wheel back and fourth. The car still randomly pulls left. Sometimes it is a good tug to the left. I have rechecked the upper and lower steering shaft U-joints and they are tight. I placed my hand around the left inner tie rod connection and feel/hear a c…

Well, I was thinking about these a few days ago to put onto my stock 240z one day in the near future. I thought that these things were going to be no more then $200 and I was going to purchase them when I get out in California to pick up my Z. Well, looking over at Black Dragon, a set costs $430!!! :tapemouth Is getting the set worth it for a stock 240z that is going to be recieving mild modifications in its lifetime with me? Will I see any major handling differences compared to stock? Or should I just spend that $430 on something else?

My early 1970 240z is in bad need of bushings all around, I'v been searching the net for kits but none of the kits list sway bars for the rear of the 240, just 260 and 280Z's did most 240's not come with them? Mine was shipped from Okinawa in 1971 Also anyone no a good online source for bushing etc. Thanks Matt

I've dismantled the rear suspension on my 1970 240Z and noticed that the two plates that attached between the diff. mounting member and the transverse link mounting member (see photo) are different shapes. The Nissan section assembly drawing shows that both plates should look the same as the one on the left ? The rectangular one on the right looks original to me - is it correct and if so is there a reason for the two shapes ? By the way I forgot to note which was on the driver side and which was on the passenger side. Any advice would be welcome before I commit to shot-blasting and powder coating. Thanks, Dave

Hey guys .. I am about to do a complete upgrade on my old wornout suspension on my 77 z and I cant remember where I saw some web sites that document this project. Can anyone tell me where I could find this info ..or offer me your own advice. I assume I should just plan to replace everything. What kind of issues am I likely to encounter ... What things can I easily do under some ramps and what do I need to get the front end guys to do? I am I pretty good mechanic ..but have not done much suspension work. This car has all original rubber I think. Also .. how hard it is to change the u-joints. The clunking in the back end is getting louder and I need to get them changed. Can…

Hi all, I have to replace the old control arm bushing but I don't have that special Nissan tool that is mentioned in the manuals. I also don't want to take off the suspension but only pull down the control arm a few inches to get to the bushing. The job looks to me a bit like the "spindle pin puller problem". Has any one experiances and advice how to do it in a comfortable way? Thanks for help Rolf

I'm willing to buy adjustables for my Z32, they are widely available, since I'm doing this, I told myself, it is a shame to buy them for the 300 since the queen is in the garage getting parts mounted back in tehre place and not buying her adjustable Compression rods! I saw once on a forum, I dont remember which one a guy who custumizes rods himself and sels them, I wonder if some companies like MSA or any other can provide them with some warranty.. I personally thaught of taking out the rods and cut away4 inches or a bit more then thread the 2 sides in opposite directions with fine threads a attach them with a long nut (threaded pime or what ever it is caleld with 2 locki…

I need to find a new RH front strut assembly for my '71 and I have found 2. One is marked KYB and has a part# 54302 A2650 The other is marked 54302 UO550 Underneath both is Z1 and Japan. Is anyone able to cross reference these part numbers? My CD does not list either part and I "think" the struts may be from a roadster. Thanks for the help in advance! Paul

How much torque can the stock 240z rear axle tack before it explodes? Also how much can it take a regular beating with?
