Anyone have a junk harness that they wouldn't mind chopping a little more? I'm in need of a nice ignition switch plug with about 6 - 8 inches of wire on it. If you can help me, please give me a pm/shout/email. Thanks much, Bryan Dat240zg 240Z #248

There was a thread sometime back on cold start troubles and whether it was carb or electrical etc etc. My 73 240z has gotten harder and harder to start when cold. Cold is a relative item here, south of the Mason-Dixon line, it has only been below freezing a couple times this year. Nonetheless I went out to drive the z yesterday and it would not fire off. It would start to fire, but would not catch. Finally, I had killed the battery and quit, got into the 1980 TR8 and went to work. I got new SU's from z-therapy last summer and they have been, otherwise, great. I redid points plugs, wires, condensor, etc last fall. The only virgin thing in the car from when I bought …

Hi all. I've recently got my hands on a 1970 240z 10/70 build date. Its missing the hazard flasher switch. Does anyone know the wiring for the flasher switch so I can try and make one or know if I can adapt a later one to fit? Also trying to work out the heater blower wiring, mines been slightly butchered when fitting a stereo at some point and A/C, has anyone a decent wiring diagram for the above? I've looked through haynes but it doesn't seem to line up. Thanks all.

When I broke my car down there was a rubber cap on the rear of one of my headlight bulbs but not the other. It was between the plug and the light with the 3 prongs going through it to form a nice seal and protect the prongs from water. I can not find one of these at any auto parts store or at MSA or Black Dragon. I know other cars use these so I don't think it is a Z specific part but could someone steer me in the right direction?

Hi, I just got '72 240z with rounded SU carb. Since cold start takes time, I also got new MSD Blaster 2 coil 8203. After installed this coil, idling get unstable. I'm new to 240z and still studying SU carb setting. Before, the factory original coil, it takes time to start up engine, but idling was stable. Do I need to upgrade distributor also? or can I just adjust SU carb setting to make idling stable? Thanks for your help in advance!

I know this has been gone over before. When I fist got my Z the P.O. had removed the whole relay bracket and fusible links and scabbed in some maxi fuse connectors. Since, I have found the relay bracket and repaired some of the wiring and installed a maxi fuse distribution block, but it's a Micky mouse unit from shucks. It not designed to handle the amps. I am looking for a new one but I cannot seem to find an appropriate one anywhere. it would be nice to find one that has a weather tight cover. Any ideas?

On my '73, in putting my left rear side lamp (running lamp) back on, I noticed 2 extra wires in the same area. One is white and the other is white with a black stripe. I can't remember which was male and female, but does anyone know what they were provisioned for? I was not able to see anything on the wiring diagram, but the wires are definitely part of the original harness. Thanks.

...Does anyone have a diagram of these mapped out, as to which terminal does what? I'm talking about the two big plastic plugs by the transmission tunnel/firewall in the passenger's footwell. I don't even know how to begin searching for them or what they're really called... Each has two rows of about five pins each, I can provide a pic if needed. My temp. and oil pressure gauges quit working, someone told me to check these connectors and clean them out with contact cleaner and a brush... Well, one of the connectors was pristine, the other more or less is disintegrated. So I'm wondering if anyone can direct me to what the function of each of the plugs is, so I can figure o…

I'm having an intermitant (worst kind!) of problem with my heater fan and wipers, where they will sometimes not work. I guess they are on the same circuit so I checked the wiper fuse and A/C fuse. both ok. then whilst I was working the heater fan started going, so I took the opportunity to remove both fuses, the fan kept going, so I unplugged the left connecter to the fuse box, which I thought would definitely stop the fan and wipers from working.. but no, they kept going. Am I missing something (entirely possible) or does it sound like that side of the fusebox been bypassed? Any ideas what to try next? thanks all! (I have a '71 by the way)

Early 74 260z. Had the centre console off to replace shifter bushings which went well. I decided to tackle my rear defog problem. Last year it was intermittent at best (i.e. if I turned on switch the indicator light may or may not come on - I couldn't tell you if the defog grid worked as I didn't drive in conditions where it was required). Testing today showed power to the switch but intermittent power to light (I could here relay cutting in and out with switch). After messing with it for a bit I managed to get no power to switch -great!. The FSM shows a 10A fuse between the ignition and the defog switch (I assume in-line fuse). Does anyone know approximately where …

I Recently purchased a 1973 240z, which had been stored for may years. After doing all the necessary things before I could fire her up ( runs strong buts need fine tuning) , it was on to electrical. I had working headlights reverse lights left signal left brake ( heavy draw) front parking lights ( right side dim and heavy draw) left rear parking light My marker lights have been removed? I did not have working right rear parking light brake lights licence plate light dash lights After cleaning every switch, socket and checking every wire from the front to the back the only thing I had found was when the front parking lights had been removed someone pluged t…

I am replacing the defroster grid on my 240Z with the vertical lines using the Frostfighter 2616 kit by turning the kit 90 degrees so it is vertical. Could someone please measure the current draw to a working rear defroster grid for a 240Z with vertical lines so I can verify the new installation won't overload the 240Z wiring? I plan on epoxying the brass bus bars to the glass instead of using the double sided tape provided and I plan on soldering all of the grid lines to the bus bars if that is practical. Also, the factory instructions call for 4 runs with 4 lines in each run with a minimum run length of 40" (and a max of 61.5") which is too big for a Z. To …
