Got the z on sat and since then replaced under hood bulb and glove box bulb did not mess with any other electrical stuff. went to dinner tonight and everything was peachy in the z...on the way home I notice the blinkers don't work so I try the hazards and they work...then I notice that only the spedo was working no other gauges...well the amp meter was in the middle... I assume this is because it taps directly off the battery and the spedo is not electrical...not sure where to start but I think I am looking for a loose connection on a plug...any ideas? thanks in advance

This problem started about a month ago. I got in the car to go to work, turned the key to RUN to turn on the electric fuel pump (did the mechanical to electrical pump swap last year), then turned the key to START and nothing happened, just a click that sounded like it was coming from under the dash. I then turned the key OFF, turned it back to RUN, and this time no fuel pump. Turned it to START and just the click and nothing else. I did this several times, and eventually the car started. Soooo, of course, what did I do? I drove it to work. When I came out to go to lunch, duh, the same thing happened again. After about 5 minutes of trying, it finally cranked, so I …

Upon restoring my 72, I noticed a little melted spot on the fuse box cover. I don't like to see anything inside the car getting that hot so I investigated. I also had a dim right front headlight and figured it might be related. Well not really, as it turns out. HOT FUSE: The metal clips that hold the fuses are fabricated in two parts. There is a lower parts I call the plate, that is riveted to the upper part, I call the forks. The plate is crimped onto the wire, under the fuse box, and the forks are riveted to the plate. The forks are what stick up and hold the fuse. What happens is one of two things. Either you get some corrosion at the wire crimp or you get some…

My coil is just a big clump of rust, i decided to replace it with one from Rock Auto, it was supposed to fit (KEM). First thing i noticed it was about 1/3 the size of the one on my car now. The clamp will not close down enough and allow the mounting bolts to attach to the wheel well. Where can i get one that i will be sure will fit :disappoin

A few years ago when i got my 1975 280Z it was gutted for racing purposes, over the last year i have been to get it back road worthy, when i removed the dashboard. i unplugged everything, i will be making a fiberglass dash for it with different gauges (tach, speedo and 9 different 2" gauges) and putting in a modified BMW heat and air unit and would like to use as much of the factory wiring as possible. My question is this.. does anyone know where all the plugs went too or have access to a wiring diagram for under the dash. I have purchased 3 different color wiring diagrams but none of them show the breakdown of the underdash wiring.

Doing last few items on a major rebuild, problem is my passenger side headlight doesn't work and high beams don't work. Both lights illuminate very dimly with driver side fuse out (it was blown) but with good fuses pass side is dark. All other lights work. High beams don't work at all, that sounds like the switch, but the dark pass side is a mystery (maybe not, you guys are good,). Any ideas? Ooops, Sorry, 78 280.

I've always loved almost anything LED related. When Audi came out with the R8, the lights really caught my attention. I've also noticed a few other cars doing a similar touch under the headlights. Even a few Z cars had them. So when I went to Auto Zone today, I thought, How many people have something like this on their S30? I like to be different but at the same time, I really wanted this look on my Z, so I bought the 28" set (2) 14" strips for $24 ?? I used a paper towel with some rubbing alcohol on it and cleaned the painted area just above each bumper on the headlight buckets. I installed the new strip LED lights in the tight area between the bucket and bumper and had…

I was taking my 72-Z to the registration office week ago and guess what. At that very moment inspector entered the car and started to inspect it, turn signals went dead. Few moments ago they were working... What might cause this? Fuses are ok. When i turn that switch i can only hear one "click-clock" instead of continuous click-clock-click.... and the arrow indicator also stays black. It has done that few times randomly but it has always worked out eventually. Now it wont. help appreciated!

Attached are some pics of my 1st prototype 3rd brake light. I figure trucks and SUV's won't easily see my brake lights below their hood line. The housing is polycarbonate made on a 3D printer. I tried to mimic a vinyl surface finish by dabbing the wet paint with a paper towel. It uses 12 red, high intensity LED's, (3300 mcd, 25 degree). To limit current and save the LED's I used a 150 ohm resistor for each block of six LED's. In the pics I show the light temporarily mounted using double sided tape. It appears to be bright enough in daylight powered w/ a 12 VDC battery charger. The housing shape is a bit crude / "blocky", so I've decided to design a new ho…
