I currenty have a rather dingy stock dizzy with the pertornix unit installed on my stock L24 (1971 Z)... but was wanting a more aggressive timing advance. I read that the euro dizzy has just that. Now, has anybody used one of these, and is the curve that much different? Also, can my current pertronix fit into the euro dizzy?

Hi all, So I got into the beginning stages of sorting out this crumbly mess that's pretending to be the engine wiring on my '78. I've figured out that the connectors on the temp sensor, thermotime switch, cold start injector, etc. are essentially the same as on the main fuel injectors. No prob. I have a source for those on Ebay. However, I'm a bit flummoxed about the 3-conductor connector on the throttle position switch. Where can I find one of those? I can't tell anything from the picture, but is this one? http://cgi.ebay.com/Bosch-1-928-403-968-3-Way-Connector-Kit-/110458797418?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item19b7db7d6a Or this? http://cgi.ebay.com/3-way-Bosch-A…

Hi guys! Our mechanic needs help with doing the ignition timing of our 1972 (or a 73) 240Z. First of all, the crankshaft pulley i believe is the wrong one, so he had to make new timing marks via positioning piston #1 at TDC (at moment of spark ignition, the mechanic swears it is so, and not at the exhaust stage). He then marked the crankshaft pulley in line with the pointer on the engine. The distributor rotor is pointing to the #1 high tension cable post of the distributor as well. We checked the distributor rotor`s direction of rotation when the engine is turned by the starter (Counter-clockwise). Now here`s the wei…

Hey guys. In the past couple of weeks I've noticed that my volt gauge is not stable when I'm driving. At idle it sometimes jumps a bit (to the left and right). When I drive it does evens out but sometime it'll jump up to 16+ and then back down to where it should be. Any ideas? Jan

Just joined the club and have a question. I have a '71 240Z that I just put a Pertronics system in. Runs real nice but I have to run extreme advance which requires the adjustment of the distributor beyond the slot adjustment. ?? Timing light shows about 17 degrees advance. Also the plug wires on the dist. has #1 wire at the firewall side and not at the front which seems to be 180 degrees off of where I've read that it should be.?? We checked for TDC on #1 and it seems corrrect. Any ideas of what's going on here? My son just got this car from my brother-in-law and we're trying to get it in a good reliable condition for him to drive. Any help or in sight on this is greatly…

Hi all. I have a 2/72 car that I've been cherry picking some parts off of (my car is a 11/71). The '72 has an AM-FM Hitachi radio in it, while my '71 has the seeking AM Hitachi radio. Before I start pulling things apart, does anyone know if a '72 AM-FM is a plug and play into a '71 AM radio wiring harness? Thanks, Gary S.

In the attached photo, what is the purpose of the blue female bullet connector that can be seen taped to the wire wrap leading to the fan switch connector? If this is an auxiliary wire, is it hot? Thanks, Gary S.

Hey guys, Im going through my bulbs trying to weed out the rusted an rotted. I am in need of some bulb sockets for the 240z. In particular those for the valence lights and the tail lights. If you have any extra in decent condition or know somebody that does, id appreciate it. Thanks Frankie

Scanned image of the '78 280Z wiring diagram (the one that folds out in the back of the FSM). 400dpi resolution, *.tif format (inside the zip file). Please remember that the '78 is different from the other year S30 models. Wayne 78-280Z_wiring.zip

Hi guys, When I bought my 78 260Z 2+2, the owner had a battery cut off switch fitted as the battery used to drain. I finally got a chance to investigate it and it looks like the voltage regulator is draining 0.7A from the battery. I have opened it up and had a look and it seems that as soon as the battery is connected, it's making a contact on the points. I've tried adjusting it as per the Haynes manual with no change. Is there anything else I can try or should I just replace it? Thanks, Mark

I have a 1972 240 which has a tail light problem. On the left rear light the brake light and the turn signal light do not work. On the same light the back up light and regular light does work. I have changed the bulbs to no avail. Does anyone have a suggestion?

Hiya I've been working with my Z for a year now and finally i got to drive it a little. Now i want to ask you oh wizard of oZ, that how (or is there any way) to recognise bad alternators? Mine is okay now but i dont want it to break down in the middle of traffic lights or in highway. I have experienced the agony when alternator breaks, i was driving home with our daily driver Volvo 945 and i was wondering why the dash lights were so weak and i could barely see lights front of the car. After few kilometers car stalled and we needed a towtruck. I COULD order a brand new(NOS) alternator but i dont do that if not necessary. Current alt. seems to be original..
