I bought an optima battery and have had it under the hood for a while but the fit is kind of weird so I made a spacer to put in my tray to get a better fit but it's not the best solution so I want to relocate to the trunk. I looked online at kits and everything, but am I correct that to do the relocation I just need 2ga welding wire to go from the starter through the firewall and into the rear, splice(extend) the fusible link plug from under the hood through the same area and onto the battery, and a ground going to the trunk floor? I am going to have a simple box welded out of spare aluminum and bolt it to the trunk floor also. I figure with the weight in the back it w…

I guess I shouldn't say NOW AVAILABLE, as they are not up on the site yet, but.... So I got an Email from Jason at KlearZ today, stating that he is NOW making the Clear front marker/turn signal lenes for the 240Z's and early 260Z's. He said this....... "It took awhile but I finally got some 240z lenses into production. I have the front turn signals available in clear, smoke, red, amber etc. They are $90 a set plus shipping. If these sell well, I may consider doing the tails at a later time. If you wouldn't mind passing the word, I would appreciate it. If you have any questions, just let me know. I've attached a pic of the first set of turns I made. " So he says $90 a …

So, after fixing my intermittent dash and parking lights issue by re-soldering a loose connection, I have come across something even more frustrating. My parking lights, headlights, and dash lights ARE NOT working. They were working perfectly 3 days ago after I thought I fixed everything. Brake lights, turn signals, hazards, and high beams work. The previous owner installed a painless wiring harness, and at the same time installed relays for the headlights. The relays should fail before the switch fails correct? The switch was confirmed as good three days ago. Could I have accidentally overheated the top of the combination switch when soldering causing my current problem?…

I did a very stupid thing. I dropped a bolt and shorted out the little box on the firewall near the heater hoses. When I started the car and went for a test drive it got so hot that the wires glowed red and smoked! I thought I was going to burn the car down. I've looked all over the FSM and I can't figure out what this little box does. Anyone know? I guess at this point I have to unwrap the wiring harness and see how bad the damage is. I'm thinking that I should check my fusible links as well. I thought that they were supposed to burn out when a short like this happens. I've only had the car a couple of weeks. Still working out what the PO did to it.

What is everyone using to replace the old brittle black vinyl sheath on the wiring. I am talking about the wiring covers for parts like the length of wiring from the plug to motor on the wiper motor or from the socket to the plug on the headlights. Is this material still avalible in an auto store? On all of the parts I have this covering is hard and brittle. I would like to replace it with new which I am assuming is more flexable than what I have. Dan

Hi, Hopefully someone can help me out with a question. I have a 260z automatic that will soon be getting a 2.8L engine and manual trans. As part of the deal i'm getting a new coil and the dizzy on the 2.8. According to the seller it's a points distributor that has a Pertronix conversion kit so no more points. I'm a little bit in over my head on this but can I bypass the stock ignition module completely in the Z to make it all work? I'm in the process of removing the interior so I can do the pedal conversion and i'd like to get rid of as much extraneous wiring as I can while i've got everything apart. Thanks!

I just bought a 1973 240Z and I'm trying to understand some of the wiring modifications made by the PO. I think I have them mostly figured out but this one baffles me. There is a red wire running from a plug near the passenger vent. To the ballast resistor (yellow wire goes to the electric fan). Anyone got any idea what it does?

260 tach woes 1 2

Hi everyone I have a 74 260 and the PO for reasons unknown has removed the resistor in the blue wire that supplies the signal to the tach from the coil. I have searched with no luck for the value of that resistor. Does anyone know what that value might be. I would like to hook up the tach but do not want to fry it, and the chances of finding an original replacement here in southwestern ontario are very slim. Any help would be great. Thanks in advance Bob Morris

I have a 1976 280Z with a cpu fuel injection I am going to get started on my Z electrical issue :disappoin the previous owner of my Z was a cheap azz when got the low mileage motor out of a identical donor he decided not get the complete engine harness and had it circumcised to save $50 and he did a twist and tape job :pirate: the car was running good despite the work done then I replaced the fuse links and cleaned the engine bay soon after one of my fuses burnt out and smoke came from the fuse box and all my insterments gauges stoped working except only volt and tack and fuel work The fuse known as fuel gauge collaborator keeps frying a week later th…

I replaced the 40 year old, non working door switches today. the passenger side works fine but the drivers side is puzzling. At first it didn't work until it was inserted back into the opening. Shortly after the door open buzzer started, never knew there was one. Went back to check after sundown and now the drivers side switch and door buzzer don't work. The passenger side has no issue. Any ideas?
