I would like to work on rebuilding my wiring harness over the winter months as a good indoor project. The problem is, I don't know what size of wire to get? Does anyone know what gauge wire is used for the 240z? Also, any good places to order a spool of wire. Thanks aplenty. carl

As before with the ZX alternator adapter, Dave Irwin and I have come up with a new wiring product for 240Zs. This one is a safety and visibility improvement. It is - as was the alternator plug before it - simple, affordable, and 100% reversible. The addition of a pair of these adapters will convert a 240Z's front sidemarkers into dual function lights. Once installed, the markers will flash in sync with the signals if the parking lights are off, and opposite if the parking lights are on. The way they work is shown in the movie linked here: http://video.classiczcars.com/user_video_detail.php?mId=2315 The theory is not complex, and wouldn't be tough to do with wire taps and …

Prior to today, my tail lights were working. I have Dave's front turn signal harness. Love it to Death, as Alice Cooper would say. I went to install Dave's Parking light/instrument light upgrade. I followed the directions. As soon as I installed it I blew the 15a inline fuse. Also the tail light fuse. Then no tail lights. I took it out of the circuit. Still blowing tl fuse. So I pull out the multi meter. Got a circuit from the fusebox screw to the left fuse holder on the TL fuse. Then I pulled the large connector apart under the steering wheel (this is the one that Daves mod plugs into). I have continuity from the same aforementioned screw to the green/wh…

I am fooling with the wipers on my 77 this morning. Symptoms are: When turned on and right back off, it makes two swipes. Usually. When turned to slowest delay, it initially works just fine-perhaps 5 cycles; after that it often goes to a slow drag across the glass with no delay between cycles, just really slow. Doesn't always do this. Sometimes slow to park After being in on position for a while and then moved to delay, it doesn't wipe without resetting the switch. Everything works fine in on position and both speeds work fine. It is more annoying than anything. Is it likely the motor, the switch, the signal intensifier? Any thoughts? Thanks, Leonard

My son and I are working on a 1977 280Z and are stumped with some electrical issues (surprise!) The primary issue I need help with right now is know where to hook one of the 2 red wires that come out of the wiring harness near the battery. One of the wires has a male connector, which hooks to the positive battery terminal via a fusible link. The other red wire has a female connector but does not connect to anything... I read somewhere that this probably connects to the negative battery terminal, however there are no wires coming from that area. ??? This is a new project car and it's possible a wire is missing or fell off in transit. Any help is greatly appreciated. …

I'm hoping someone can help, my left turn signal and park light come on at the same time. The turn signal does not blink, just stays on. If the park light is on both bulbs also glow. If the turn signal and park light are turned on at the same time, both bulbs go out. there is obviously a short somewhere.....I have had all the switches apart and cleaned them, this has not made a difference and have checked all the connections and all seem fine. please help.

Ok, I've seen a lot of threads on Z electrical issues and mine is probably just another variation on the theme...flashers stop working when brake pedal pressed; headlights also throw in some other variations when combined with brakes. If you have any suggestions I would really appreciate it. I am still cleaning contacts, checking bulbs, etc just to cover the quick and easy stuff. Also, I have one of those color coded wire diagrams I purchased off e-bay and its pretty helpful, but it references a hazard switch that seems to be a common junction for hazards, turn signals and brake lights. Does anyone know where this switch is located? I don't think it is referring to th…

Great info on the color wiring diagrams. Any chance someone has a link to a colored one for an 83zx turbo model. I am nearly complete with the conversion but have very different and very conflicting wiring information and no longer sure what to trust. Thanks! Leonard

Recap: My starter is new, maybe only 2 or 3 weeks old. It's a 78' gear reduction starter in a '76 Z (covered all of this on the board). So, I'm driving to pick up some to-go food and head to my inlaws house. Car is running fine as I cross town, everything is good. I get there, eat, and upon leaving I find myself stranded. I put the key in and turn to start, dead silence. All i can hear is the fuel pump engaging. I checked the: 1. Battery (full charge) 2. Wiring to Starter - All Secure 3. Fuses (n/a) Basically we push started the car and got it home. Upon getting it home, it started once; but then the 2nd attempt it failed again. When you turn the key, its just quiet. No …

I need help identifying this box, as you can see the cover is all but gone and it sits nexto the fusible links directly under the poorly engineered hood vent on the passengers side that does not have a plate to stop water from pouring on to it. Not sure if i have to replace the whole box or if i can get a new cover :disappoin

I posted a Want ad for a friend of mine who is currently working on his car. My friend's car is a 73, but he insists that his tach is a 3-wire. Which seems to run contrary to what one would think. All of the wiring schematics I have show a 4-wire. I can't find anything that would help settle the question and I haven't had a chance to look at my friends harness or tach. One of the comments on the ad reads: Which upholds my (and other people's) thinking. So, the general question to the rest of you is which tach is correct? Hopefully we can get a consensus so my friend knows what to get. He's looking for a replacement because his original tach was always intermittent,…
