Hello, I bought a Pertonix ignitor 1 and Flamethrower 1 and I am having trouble getting my car to start and have the Tachometer work. I have heard that I don't need my balast resistor and I can splice several of the wires together but I don't remember which ones. In addition I believe I have more wires than I need? Right now I have 1 black, 1 black with white stripe and 1 green with white strike wire not connected to anything? I am sure that is wrong? I have followed the in box pertonix directions. My set up is black wire and red (to the Ignitor) on the Positive side of the coil, on the negative I just have the black to the Ignitor. Thank you very much fo…

Hello all, My instrument panel on my 1973 240z will not light up. It initially went out when my combo switch burnt out, literally smoke coming from the steering wheel. I have since had the switch refurbished but the dash has not come back on. The fuses in the fuse box in the center console look intact. I am not sure if there another fuse I need to look for? Any help is great. Thank you for your time!

Every time I put a 240z back together I run into the same problem, push the horn button and you get a click with a bit sound from the horn then nothing. I can't remember what the fix is, anyone recognize the symptom? Thanks

I haven't been happy with the charging system in the 260Z for a while. At startup, the alternator output was fine, but after a while of driving, the voltage would drop down to only 12.8VDC many times. It was time to explore options. Since I converted the carburetors into throttle bodies for the Patton Machine GM TBI fuel injection, I wasn't using the neutral (yellow) wire from the alternator for the fuel pump relay #1. That meant I didn't have the limitation a stock 260Z owner would have. (Of course, I could have worked around that one if needed.) Because I like experimenting on my projects, I decided to look into the Nissan Frontier 70A alternator. Since I didn't fe…

In my 77 280Z I've read 13 volts on the meter for over 40 years. Just lately it has started spiking upon starting the vehicle. It will shoot up to the pin and the car runs but the audio system sounds pretty funky. So, something is going on. I can restart the car and most often clear the problem. Sometimes not.

I have a 1973 240z, installed new gas tank and fuel sending unit. When I fill the tank full the dash fuel gauge reads full. After driving for about 100 miles the fuel gauge show 1/2 full. When I fill up the tank only down about 4 gallons. Any help will be appreciated!

Can someone tell me what this wire set is for or goes to? That will give me a place to start research how to connect them up. Thanks

I took the plunge and purchased LEDs to replace the exterior lights, except for the plate lights. So far I replaced all but the lights under the bumper. I'll probably get to those this weekend. I did check the current flow with the LEDs, and it is now 2.6A. I didn't measure the current before the switch, but I estimated it to be approximately 7.9A. (For the record, I was expecting about 2.9A at this point of changing out the lights.) I purchased all of the bulbs from Superbright LEDs. Here is what I selected for my 260Z Front side markers - 67-A9 Rear side markers - 67-R9 Rear stop/tail 1157-R12 Rear turn 1156-R12 Rear tail 67-R9 Front turn 1157-A12 Reverse lights 67-W9 L…

Hi Guys, I posted a year ago that I bough a Auto 280z and finally I had it running. Had to do quite a lot of work and it still need more tuning but I was able to get it running on road. The problem is starter voltage !!! I have the new Nissan OEM fusible links installed as well. When you turn the ignition sometimes the starter does not get engaged and if it does it does not get full voltage. We have to use a remote starter button and directly supply voltage to the starter and it then cranks up nicely. The battery is brand new. Can someone guide me what to check between ignition and starter? I would assume there is somewhere a relay also involved.

Hello, everyone. I just acquired a 1974 260z in December 2021 (I believe later 74 because of the bumpers???). I finally got a dream Z!! It's rough around the edges, but I've been chipping away at the thing to get it to a daily ish car. Problem is, I hit a hard wall to overcome. I have pretty much no electrical experience with cars. I've done the small "wire the horn into the aftermarket race wheel" job, and a cruise control wiring chase with an e46. Pretty light work. Well, I jumped head first into what I consider intense wiring: Adapting newer relays to the fuel pump system. I only have one of the two original relays, and the previous owner says the one I have is al…
