Well, here is the latest in my car wont start journey Stephen,(sblake01), you are up to speed and I wont lay everything out up to this point, I am hoping you can look at some photos and clue me in. First, a little background. I pulled out the carpet, etc, to start redoing thre interior, Por15, dynamat, new carpet, etc. There was a wire running from under the driver part of the dash, clear speaker wire. It ran from behind the ecu panel and continued back towards what at the time was the tool box. I now remember (months later, it went inside the vinyl around the inside of the dogleg area directly underneath the speaker. I thought at the time it was some rigged wire going…

I just bought an ignition module off ebay for a 1979 280zx but when I got it it reads E12-93. I assume I needed the E12-80 to go with my zx distributor for the 240z electronic ignition conversion I wanted to do. Can I use this module? What year is the E12-93 really from? Any help is appreciated. I searched a bit and found some discussion that said you can use it but need a different vacuum advance possibly. Thanks guys,

I am a novice at best at this and I have been doing alot of reading both online and via the FSM and F.I. Manual. I am trying to track down the reason my car will not start. To recap to date, I have replaced the following, fuel filter, spark plugs, wires, dist. cap and rotor, ignition coil, injectors and connectors, fuel pressure regulator, battery and every visible vacuum hose and injection hose I could find. The car started but ran poorly before I changed out the fuel filter, plugs, wires, cap and rotor. It still ran poorly afterwards. I pulled the A.F.M. to clean/check connection and after that, I cant get it to fire, just crank. I tried succesfully to get it to fire …

I'm not sure they're related but... On the '71 240Z... 1. Turn signals are almost imperceptible when the headlights are on. They are fine when the headlights are off. I assume this is an alternator issue (this was all witnessed at idle), but would like to verify... 2. Dash lights are fine when I start up the car. Once it's warm, it I turn the car off (say to gas up) and restart...no dash lights... As an aside, battery was not at full charge. Not sure if this would contribute (possibly to the turn signals, not sure how that could affect dash lights).

Hi to all, well i´m wiring the dash lights but there is one cable that i think might be the cigarette lighter but i am not quite sure, there is a R/L (red/Blue) wire that comes from the speedo (2 lamps), then to the tach (2 lamps), then to the rheostat with a spade connector, and it goes to the water/oil, amm/fuel and clock gauges, but then this wire chanfes to red with a bullet connector and then it splices again to blue, my question here is the next, The L wire i think is for the radio, the R wire i think it's for the cigarette lighter , but in the diagram it shows that the cigarette lighter feed trough a L/W wire from the fuse box, can the R wire be for the cigar…

Anyone have any comments concerning the HEI mod? There seems to be a lot of concern about its poor performance above 3k rpm, although I have read one or two articles stating this problem is due to over-heating when the module is mounted in a distributor/coil/module integrated application- not a concern in this mod. I've also heard that the higher quality Accel doesn't have this problem. I know one answer is why bother, just use the e12-80, but they’re becoming harder to find and it would be nice to have another option. Thanks

Hello all, I just got my 260 2+2 on Sunday. All was working fine. Yesterday I took it out and for some reason no turn signals. The Hazard flashers work fine. Went to the parts store bought a new relay and nothing no clicking nothing. So I cleaned the contacts on the Hazard flasher unit and they still work fine, but no turn signals. So I took apart the column and cleaned all of the contact areas and the horn, which wasn't working before works, but still no turn signals. I need help I don't quite know where to go from here and I am not the most savy at readign schematics. Any advice from an expert would be helpful. Thanks Nick

I have a 1971 240z. When I was looking at the car the previous owner mentioned connecting the battery up backwards well. After trying to figure out why the battery was draining within 30 minutes. I took out the aftermarket junk radio from the 70s and it was splice city. I was thinking that if it was connected directly to the battery it might be the culprit. However once the radio was out I noticed this. The main white red stripe wire melted beyond regonition. It is ok at the fuse box but after that its melted. In looking at the schematics, they show a white lead coming from the starter. Mine was blue, but after taking the black tape off this is what I found. …

I still have not been able to get my car started and downloaded and printed out the fuel injection manual Saturday in hopes of narrowing down the problem. I had my brother over yesterday and we were talking and he decided to look at my car and read over the manual. I had told him how a few months ago I had been under the dash and unplugged the relay harness. A week later when I tried to start the car it wouldnt start, then I remembered I had unplugged the relay. He asked while looking at it "Did you maybe not plug it back the same way". He looked and told me while he was under the dash, the plugs are the same and depending on which way you turn them, they can g…

just bought a 280z 78'. We were trying to get it running when we encountered some electrical problems. the pickup inside the dizzy isn't getting any power. they are the red and green wire which travel from the dizzy to the transistor ignition unit. these wires don't have any current going through them. I tested the the black and white wire going to the ignition unit above the fuse box and it had power. this i believe is coming from the ignition switch. the blue wire coming out of the unit has power, and the book says it goes some where in the fuel injection part. the black wire is a ground . so the only wires that don't have power are the red and green going to the…
