So wiring with ez harness, I have a hot running to the green blue wire on the combo switch when switched it puts power to my green white wire which runs threw its stock locations IE the gauge's and then is spliced into the running lights. Note it is spliced into the red blue wire also running to the gauge's. I have a hot at the green blue wire when I turn on the circuit the fuse blows. So I took the dimmer switch out of the equation and still fuse blows as soon as I turn on the circuit. Headlights work however the dash lights and the running lights do not come on. Now I have in the past had the running lights working with a different wiring configuration however no dash l…

Hi I have a 72 zed (very much a project) and an 84 Nissan 720 pickup 2.4 L engine. Neither are my daily driver. The alternator in the truck went a few years ago, and I purchased a new one. When I was putting it in, I being stupid at the time did not disconnect the battery and got a huge spark touching the alternator to a live wire. I figured I may have fried it. After I put the alternator in, my battery warning light came on dimly and constant. So out of frustration, I took the alternator out of the zcar and it fit. Although the light came on dim as well. I eventually stuck the new alternator into the 240z and it seems to be ok. I am actually quite surprised by this. I a…

I just bought an alternator for the 75 280Z. I got the Alt for a 82ZXT internally regulated of course 60AMP. I am not in need of it yet but have noticed a flux in voltage when driving so I am preping for when it does go out. My question for this thread is. 1. Is there a way to ugrade the insides of the Alternator to get a max output of voltage. I do have an Alt shop close by but he's not the best guy to talk with. I also don't want to spend the 100 or so for the other guys super AMP alternator.

Does anyone use a light/combo switch on their 76 from a 77 Datsun? I found a seller, but he is not sure if it will fit mine. What bugs me most with these electrical Datsun deals is how fast the company was changing connectors. And, will the plastic top/bottom steering column covers for the switch from '77 fit my '76 280z? Thank you! Den

Hi all, I am about to swap an '83zx engine and 5 speed into the 240z (will swap my SU setup to the L28) and was wondering if anybody has used this connector/plug to do the conversion to the '83 electronic ignition. It seems like a very clean and simple way to go. The other question is "can I buy this outright from one of our vendors"? I would rather buy it than bid on it. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=005&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=150244546727&rd=1 Any help is appreciated! Thanks, Tim

I just finished my second set of LED front Marker lights and I need to know what you guys think. What would ya pay for something like this, would you rather just buy an LED bulb or or go for the whole conversion with wetsanded and polished lenses, cleaned housings, new screws and nylon washers, new mounting hardware and cleaned rubber seal? Let me know what ya think, this is NOT an AD, just an inquiry to see what the demand is. I have one set in the classifieds but the price is for the complete set, not a conversion. If you send me yours for the conversion, it would cost less. http://www.classiczcars.com/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=2920 what do ya think. Dave…

Hi, I just bought home my first Z car ever. It's a 1983 280zx. I went 1100+ miles to get her. It had been sitting since 1992, but it's all original one owner car, and the power windows and the radio won't work. I Checked the fuses on the pass. side kick panel and they are all good. Is there any relays or anything else? the local auto parts store can't even get any parts, anyone know where I can buy 280zx parts?

not sure if this belongs in this forum or not, but here goes. im looking at running an additonal water temp gauge in my 240z (w/ carb' L28) under the hood. i am currently runnng 2 electirc fans on a thermostatic switch, and would like to get a more accurate reading on when to have them turn on. im having trouble locating a mech. gauge that will work with my thermostat housing, (the port is too small, and the probe on the gauge is too long.) so i was wondering if i could wire in an electric gauge under the hood and tap into the wire going from the sending unit in the thermo housing to the stock gauge inside the car? im not sure if this would screw up the signal going …

Hi guys. First off - a preliminary thank you for any help. I have done some pretty extensive searches on 240z charging issues, but after some testing, checking, and connection clean-up, am still having an issue. I do have a multi-meter, but I'm a bit electrically challenged :paranoid: Here's the scoop: 1. Voltage across battery at running idle is ~12.7V - not enough, which tells me something is up with the charging system 2. I'm not quite sure how to read the voltage the alternator is putting out with my multimeter, but with the neg of the multimeter grounded to the block, and the pos side hooked to the nut on the alternator - it read between 20 - 22...jumping arou…
