I have searched past threads and did not find any info on radio schematics. I need the schematic for the Hitachi AM auto search radio. Model #TM-1081ZB I have already checked with Howard Sams Photo Fact with not luck. Does anyone have any suggestions? Jerry

I am looking for a pdf of the 78' 280z electrical diagram. The one on the atlantic Z website seems to be corrupted and only shows part of the diagram. Anyone able to post a full file? Thanks.

I just got a set of H.I.D. headlights. I'm not talking the blue halogen H.I.D. simulated bulb, I'm talking the actual high intensity discharge headlight with the control module for each light. I've never messed with these before and am not exactly sure how to wiring them into the car. My main concern is safety. I know the headlight harness needs a relay. That's the easy part. But as far as what else goes where... I'm a bit lost. Does any one have any suggestions? If you've done this before, I could really use your help.

I have a 71 240Z with 160,00 miles. The cigarette liter shorted and had no fuse. The wire burned and went all the way through the wiring system. I have taken the car to a shop and they want $1500.00 to repair with a used wiring harness. I don't want to get rid of the car because it runs strong and has extra clean interior. I also don't feel I can spend $1500.00 on the car. If I do the work myself (I don't like to work on electrical) I know I will need to take out the dash to put a new wiring harness. Has anyone out there replaced a wiring harness? Where would I find a new harness, used or new? Complicated I know. Thanks for any thoughts. Jim

Now, I consider myself to be fairly mechanically an electrically inclined. I am not an expert nor a veritable Z'sondabrain, but I have done some extensive electrical work on my car. Saying that, I can not, for the life of me, get my brake warning light to turn on. Yes, the switch is fine. The bulb is not burned out. The wiring diagrams are a JOKE. I have a 1972 240z. The FSM shows a Y/G from the hand brake switch going to the lamp. Check. It shows a Y/L coming from the brake block. Mine is Y/G. The Chassis Supplemental section shows the light connection as G/Y and Y/G. Check. The wiring diagram shows jack for this connection. How does the light get power? The l…

I think my alternator may be going on my 73 Z. I just installed a set of super white Piaa driving lights, and the work great. I also put in some H4 halogen light for good measure. When my driving lights are on, my headlights seem to get dimmer. The driving lights have their own relay and switch which is a plus. My amp meter is still to the right of the middle line. I know that Z's have weak alternators to begin with. Do I need to upgrade my wiring harness to install the more powerful GM alternator? Any thoughts?

My 72 240z has an electrical problem. there is a short that is making my battery drain, the headlights don't work, and the blinkers don't work (unless i hit the hazard light switch, then only the rear ones and just recently i got the right front one to work as well..but im pretty sure it's just a faulty switch). the biggest problem though is that i think my alternator doesn't work, im not positive, but when i jump the car, it'll run for around 5 minutes, so my theory is that the jump gives it enough juice for that amount of time, but then the car will die, im thinking because the alternator isn't recharging the battery. my real question is when i was driving the car, when…

I have gotten the second new voltage regulator now. This one looks like old style, but is much lighter. I had told napa, I wanted the transistor style, like the one I have been using. I guess they just put it in a can to look like the old style. Anyway, the new one has the white wire cut off of it. It is obvious it was never hooked to the buss on the back. Does anyone know what the white wire went to on the old ones? All I know at this point is, that this one works, so far with no problems:nervous: Oh by the way, did I mention over the last week. The choke cable fried pretty badly. It's a wonder there was only minimal damage. The short harness connecting soleno…

Heloo. My 1977 280Z has a fusible link that keeps smoking like it's trying to catch fire! When I first got the Z it had no fusible link covers on either pair of links. Anyhow when I bought new Fusible link covers the rightside (outer most) link in the front box started smoking with the cover on it. The cover also had a melted hole on the top where the link was in contact physically. So I bought new MSA links ,which are shorter and don't touch the covers, and replaced the old ones and new covers (again) as well. Yesterday I gave my car a jump cause of a dead battery then 5 minutes after letting it run on it's own the same Fusible Link started to smoke AGAIN :hurt: Turning …

YO! I tried search function and kind of lost on this. I removed the Distributor Cap on my 1977 280Z and found all was OK and it was in like new condition. But when I pulled the Distributor itself out of the hole thingy it sits in I found there was some kind of water inside about Half a Shot Glass worth. Is this supposed to be there as some kind of Lubricating stuff or should I pull that fluid out ASAP. It seems kind of darkish clear and filmy and looks like motor oil on your fingers. Thyanx for any replies ~Z~

On my 280Z, there are a few groups of wire for hazard switch, radio, defroster, antenna, etc. that go from the console to the firewall area. The only problem on my car is that the PO just stuffed things up there and it's a bloody mess, a rat's nest, and you can't even tuck the carpet under the heater. Are all those bundles of wires supposed to go through the heater area with some kind of organization? should the wires be neatly organized in smooth lines like the rest of the wiring that's been taped? I may need to spend a week or two untangling things. :devious: thxZ
