I am not sure if anyone else has had this confusion. But, I thought I would share. And maybe someone can set me straight as to why in the world anyone would do this. In the Haynes manual, the distributor firing order is illustrated in a silly way, although it is correct. The plugs are listed along the bottom as 5-6-3-2-4-1. The lines are connect to the correct positions on the distributor. But, this is confusing because the firing order is actually 1-5-3-6-2-4. So, it is just one off of the actual order. The diagram has the lines from the 6 and 3 plug crossing for some reason. It seems to me that if you just drew the lines straight down, you would read the correct…

the tail lights on my 77 magically started burning in the middle of the night (ignition off - keys in my pocket) a while back and now I have no fuel gauge or dash lights. Is there a module or something that is bad or is this just a major wiring short in 30 year old harness? Thanks! Any body wanna buy a piece of junk z in the Columbus Ohio area with a stong engine and 5 speed?

Is the key-in switch (for the theft -deterrent sfeature) part of the ignition switch assembly, or can it be serviced or replaced separately? My buzzer for the key-in doesn't seem to go off lately. The problem might also be from a bad door switch but I will probably want to install a new one first. thxZ

So, is there any pros or cons to using a stronger Alternator? Are the 280's a direct swap? If I do decide to run a stronger alternator, does anything else have to be changed out?

Removing the FI harness after an engine fire but have some questions. At the firewall in the engine bay the massive harness splits off twice, once to the dropping resistors (removing) and agin with 2 wires that go to the batt neg and pos cables, do I have to seperate those from the harness and keep them or do they go also. And I assume that the only thing under the dash that goes is the big plug to the ecu? At the same time it looks like the only other wiring affected (melted) is the wire to the temp sensor in the thermo housing and the wire to the brake proportioning valve sensor, are ther anything special about these wires? Thanks in advance guys!

I was out driving today (a minor success in itself), and I noticed that the ammeter rises with engine rpm. Additionally, the headlights get somewhat brighter and the period of directional blinking varies, which leads me to believe that the amps are indeed increasing (as opposed to a gauge issue). Should I suspect the alternator or does the voltage regulator control the amperage as well? Is this even a problem? Thanks.

hi im new to this site and just recently bought a 71 240z. i cant get the blinker lights to work. i ve checked the bulbs and they are good. some one told me it could be the flasher, so i replaced that but nothing and im not sure if the flasher that i had replaced is really for the blinkers, all i can tell you is that the flasher was located under the instrumental panel on the driver side right below and on the left to the steering wheel. please help me i dont want to take it to a shop, cuz i dont have the money. thanks

Hello all! I have been going through my project car, attempting to document and plan all the work ahead of me. I have examined the body, interior, engine and last weekend finally took a good look at my Zed's wiring. It's in decent shape, but has been hacked a bit and painted over (possibly several times). I've done a few searches here and at Hybrid Z and have noticed that there are not many wiring/re-wiring options available to us (Painless aside). I work as an electronics technician and do wiring repairs and replacements quite frequently and, as such, have been considering re-doing the wiring on my car. I know many people swap engines, add fuel injection, aftermark…

So I rebuilt my combo switch to fix my headlights(turns out that wasnt the problem) and I was left with these two bushings when I was done. The lights work fine but the 'ACC' fuse, when installed, causes my lights to be on regardless of switch position. That fuse carries my wipers. I pulled the fuse so I can control my lights with my switch but, of course, I have no wipers now. Does anyone know where these bushings go and does this sound like a problem with the switch? The pen is there for size reference.

Hey, I have a '73. The PO butchered the wiring for the wiper. Cut it right before the plug. Anyone know of a good place to purchase a wiring harness or something else that can be done as a replacement for the wires. I will post a pic after this weekend. Thanks in advance
