Hello All I just finished installing replacement/believed correct wiper/headlight and turnsignal swithes on my 09/71 240-Z and have only one speed of wipers working, the low speed. All else seems fine except for the high wiper speed. Note the switch installed is one without the intermittent wiper setting (my wiper motor only has five wires to it). The switches which I have now removed were a matched pair from a 260-Z (intermittent wiper function and pass button at end of indicator stalk). They had been installed with the use of what I will call an "adaptor harness" rather than hacking up the original wiring harness of the car (thanks someone). I did not install these and …

Hi all, I have a '72 240z that I'm trying to replace some insrtument lights. On the fusebox cover, there are some warning indicator lights (seat belt, choke). Mine lacks the bulbs and I don't know what size to replace them with. Phillips lightbulbs lists the instrument bulbs as #1445, but the base is still too big for the fixture. I don't think I have an aftermarket item. Anybody have any ideas? (Dare I say that I need "enlightenment"?) Greg

Hello I'm having a problem with my 78 280z where it refuses to start. I believe it to be a problem with an electrical relay. I have tested the battery and the starter and both are good. the connections all seem to be good. I try to start the vehicle and find all that happens is the main relay under the passengers side dash starts clicking like crazy it has these markings "25230-89958 MR 3S-561 jideco japan" I also hear a relay clicking under the black box where the fuseable links originally were, I have since replaced those links with fuses, I have also replaced my ignition with a push button set up. I have managed to make the vehicle start by bridging the poles on the st…

The headlight acorns on my '72 240z are in bad shape. I have some decent acorns off a '75 280z. However, the wiring connections are different. Is there any way to remove the wiring from the '72 and put in the acorns from the '75 without cutting the wiring? There's a gromett the wiring goes thru, but it doesn't look like if the gromett was removed that the connector would go thru. Has anyone tried to remove this wiring with any success?

I went on a zclub cruise yesterday to the Petersen museum, and noticed the differences in which bulbs were lit up on 3 different 240's for braking and tail lights. looking from rear, bulbs on light assembly left to right top to bottom--1,2,3,4. Car#1 lights, bulbs1,2---brakes 1,2,3 car#2 lights, bulb 1,2---brakes 1,3 car#3 (my car) lights bulbs1,2---brakes 3only.My question is which is factory. Ithink #2 put in euro tl assembly. should my car light up like #1? With his headlights off all 3 lights came on for braking. with my headlights off only bulb #3 comes on. did he modify his? richard (can/t use nickname) funk

I have an 83 280zx with an E12-80 module on it. Is this right? I just bought this car to restore and it wants to fire up SOOO bad but just won't. Maybe this module is wrong or maybe just bad gas as the car sat for 2years. If anyone has any advice I would most definately appreciate it.

I want to wire in a Kill Switch to my Ignition. There are two wires going into my Coil, can I run a switch to both of them (keeping the circuits separate) or should I ground the coil? Also, what gauge wire should I be using> Thanks in advance. ViparZ

Hi again, My 73 is starting to look and run really good. I have a small question. I have a buzzer. When I plug it in, start the car, put on my seatbelt and put it in gear, the buzzer is going off. I think the buzzer should only be going off when the seat belt is light is illuminating. The light turns off when I put my seat belt on, but the buzzer keeps going. Am I missing something? I have it currently unplugged, but I would like to keep it, because it came with the car. Any ideas? Ramses

I am looking to update my 73 240Z's ignition system from points to an electronic one. I'm looking at various options such as the Pertronix Ignitor 2, Crane XR700/XR3000 or the 280ZX distributor with the e12-80 module. I've read through the varioius archives on this site and still haven't come to any conclusion: I am leaning to the Pertronix or the 280ZX options....one reason being that the additions don't involve adding an extra box under the hood...perhaps this is not a very good reason though... 280ZX: In the research I've done it appears as though the 280ZX option may not be compatible with the 240Z's tach. Is this correct? Do I have to add the 280Z tach too.. Oth…

Hi, What are you guys using for a positive battery cable? I have a 1970 240z and the terminal looks pretty bad. The cable I have has a large cable going to the starter, one extra smaller wire powering up some accessories. I think MSA still offers a original cable? Thanks, Bob:smoke:

Gang A while ago, I read a thread titled "Headlight and Turnsignal Upgrade" posted by "Z's-ondabrain". Anyone find that thread or know of Z's... where-abouts? I was interested in the subject, don't remember the text, I think he had a wiring diagram or maybe a harness to sell. I only have this vague note to myself, and now, wish I had had the time then to pay attention. Peace, Wolf
