Curious if anyone knows the use of this part. It was mounted under the dash although it was not hooked up to anything. Only thing readable on the unit is Pentatech Inc. Car had original radio installed and nothing out of the ordinary. Red/Yellow/black ground, makes me think radio attachment of some sort, but iono. Dash lights dont work in car, maybe this was some type of relay or something at one time to bypass the dash light rheostat switch? Just curious, maybe someone has seen one before, looks pretty old school. Thanks.

Anyone have any pics of the connector that goes to the back of the actual ignition switch? My '70 did not have any wiring and I am needing to wire up a new connector. Anybody able to help? Bryan Dat240zg

hey Z people! I bought a stearing wheel on ebay several years ago I restored it and put in on my Z ... it looks great. The horn has never worked. I replaced an old momo stearing wheel with the Z wheel and the horn didn't work on that either. The z wheel didn't have any wires coming out of it from the horn button. The only thing that I noticed was two metal rings that are on the horn button that if you were to push the horn the metal rings would contact and then the horn would work.... right? But where are the wires? I still have my origanal 240Z horns and they work just fine, I just don't know how to get it to work with my horn button. I can't tell you how many t…

I have a 72 240Z and i just recently installed a new ingnition switch. After that i was turning on the car on and off while we where trying to get the car to idle right. It no longer turns on and all i hear is the relay by the passengers side door. Could it be that the relay burnt out and i need a new one or is it a problem with my starter?

I picked up one of those battery cut-offs that VB sells and Im looking for suggestions of where to mount it. Really would be nice if they made these items fully enclosed of some sort but owell. I dont really want to just let it dangle around with exposed ends, and also dont really want to just tape the heck out of it. Its the circular type with 4 holes around the rim, and the exposed terminals hanging out the back, was kind of wondering what the 4 holes are on it actually? Thinking of searching for a circular piece of plastic tubing and making a housing for it, maybe some large pvc pipe, then mounting it to the firewall. If anyone could give a suggestion or link me …

I am clearly a novice mechanic. Within the past 6 months my veteran Z mechanic installed, balanced and synched new ZTherapy carbs, valve lash adjustment, timing, new points - the works - and it was running like a dream. Recently the car has started having mild backfiring when I take it out of gear and the RPM's drop as I coast to a stop - or any time I rev it then release throttle quickly. I went to the local car show (my mechanic friend is usually there) and since this is a symptom of misfiring we popped the distributor cap and the points were touching which I guess happens over time. To make a long story longer I adjusted the points which is easy but it is not solvi…

It doesn't seem to be too easy to find an old-fashioned sealed-beam headlight these days. Halogen prevails. I don't expect to do a lot of nighttime driving, and I'd prefer not to get into harness and/or alternator upgrading (I've got a '73). So my question -- how much current or wattage do you figure the original sealed beams took? There's an Osram/Sylvania bulb (halogen), H60242, that is pretty modest in its spec -- 40/60 watts low/high. Can I get away with this? TIA, Steve

They were working as they are supposed to before the engine rebuild. I am fairly certain they worked a couple of times after as well, but maybe not. Anyhow.. the low beams work well. When I switch to high beams the indicator light comes on but the lights are completely dark. Switch back to low and they come back on. Any ideas?

I just got a 73 240Z and I'm having a problem with the interior lights. The dash lights sometimes cut off when the following things happen: Hit a hard bump Turn on the left blinker Just randomly More often than not it will just randomly cut off.. they will eventually come back on. When the lights go out the orange choke light will come on. One thing to note: The previous owner installed a CD player and it works great and always stays powered on while the rest of the dash lights go out. I am new to all this and really do appreciate any help anyone can give.

I was having problems with my interior lights and parking lights saying on. A nice member mentioned to check the fuse block. After I started digging around in there I noticed the fuse block had melted. That's really no surprise from what I hear. Here's the crazy thing: A previous owner had used wood glue to hold the melted fuse block together! Obviously now I need a new fuse block. Can anyone here recommend where I can find a new fuse block? My car is a 1973 240z. I have seen that some people sell an "updated" fuse block with the new style fuses (but they seem expensive). Has anyone used one of these? Any suggestions one where to buy an orginal? Thanks to ever…

Where in the world is the dimmer switch on a 73 240Z? I can't find it anywhere. Also, if anyone has any idea, I have two pull knobs under the dash on both sides... any idea what those are??
