Had a great break with the car -- installed headlight relays, tightened up my shifter, put on a new water pump (those issues documented elsewhere) and dropped in a new alternator. I started the process with the alternator and realized I had the wrong one (one I ordered from e-bay -- I hadn't done my homework properly and ended up getting what was basically the same alternator). I went to advance and ordered a reman from an '83 280zx. It bolted in (mostly) without issue (the mounting holes were slightly too small, but I suspect my car and not the alternator was to blame there, easily remedied in any case), and wiring was pretty straightforward. I pulled the VR, snipped …

I have a 73 240,and was washing it today and noticed a darkened driver side tail light lense. I have a turbo muffler with a slash tip that sticks out even with the bumper guard. the clear back-up lense is particularly dirty. the drivers side on the back hatch mating surface is also discolored(painted recently) My question is I presume you have to take out the black plastic panelnext to the hatch to take the t.l. assmby out , but does the light housing separate from the lense? Is it worth while to get a new gasket or just put black gasket cement around unit after cleaning.I know all about the fume problems with the z and got it pretty much under control but havn't touched…

I'm having a seriously difficult time finding a replacement "bridge" wiring harness to connect a factory Hitachi AM/FM radio to the console wiring harness. This part is specific to the 78 280Z only. The bridge wiring harness is about one foot long and connects to the console wiring harness with a large black plastic electrical connector. The other end has two smaller electrical connectors that plug directly into the stock Hitachi radio. If anyone knows where I might find one of these harnesses I'd certainly appreciate the help. Thanks in advance!

I was curious, I hear people talking about the distributor mount needing to be replaced when swapping out different style/year distributors and I want to make sure this is needed in my case. I have N42 (75?) block with a N47 (77?) head, in my 71 Z. I stripped all the fuel injection stuff off to use this setup with my SUs. Now my stock distributor does have a slightly different mount/plate then what was on the fuel injected distributor, but it appears when mocking it up that it fits fine. And when I measure the clearances in shaft and all measurements I get the same results from the 2. Only difference I see is the location of the advance screws and their positioning, …

I'm hoping someone can help me out. I'm rebuilding an original intake manifold tuna cans and all for my 260's L26 and I'm stuck. Trying to find a complete or a P/N for a small section of engine harness that connects the EGR Solenoid, Throttle Opener solenoid to distributor. I'll describe it the best I can, two wires, a green/white strip to EGR solenoid w/male bullet connector and black/white strip Throttle Opener solenoid w/male bullet both terminate in a two pole male connect that I believe connect to a female connector by the distributer. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year Thanks, Jim 1974 260Z - 302 Leaf Green Metallic/ Black RLS30-020697 (01/74)

Looking for a part number for the center console harness for a 260z (manuf 01/74). Looking at a replacement one on Ebay from a 76 280z (The P/N 24023-N4201 my best guess) not sure if it would work, can anyone help? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=011&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=320063084711&rd=1,1 Thanks, Jim 1974 260Z - RLS30-020697 (01/74)

I just bought a 1973 240Z... I can't get my wipers to work. Any step-by-step directions to troubleshoot? When I turn the switch on there's no response, no sound, nothing. Otherwise, all electricals seems to work. Also, does anyone know what type of automatic transmission fluid to use for a '73 automatic? Thanks... new to this site. Mike Abild

The sun is setting on these combo switches, and if you're looking even for a salvage one, my point is made? What I want is to take the headlamp circuit out of there and run it through a toggle switch, running lights too. It can be done, but I would sure like some some electrical wizard to aid me.

Refreshing my 1970 240Z and replacing the engine wire harness, it has seen better days. I have a nice one from a 1971, the part number supercedes by one from mine. The only difference that I see is that 2 main power connectors, one that plugs into the dash harness, the other into the body harness, have spade connectors on the '70 harness, while the '71 has a plug connector. I am assuming that if I simply change the connector, everything will work fine. Have any of you been here, done that? Thanks all.

It looks like the battery in my 70Z is shot. It wont hold a charge. Can anyone recommend which make and model of new battery looks most like the original battery in a 70/71 Z in physical appearance/color, and in physical dimension (the battery currently in my car is too small to bit the battery hold down hardware properly). Thanks....
