Ok so I got a Maxima alternator that puts out 90 amps and I've been spending the last hour trying to find a good description of how to wire this thing in. Alas I keep getting random bits here and there but nothing concrete. Has anyone here done this and would like to take pity on me by writing a good article on it?

This how-to tech article is about making & installing your own ground wires on a car. The article uses a Mazda Protoge as the example. It was said somewhere else that you should include the headllight ground in the system, but since the headlight ground is on the steering column, you'll have to do something else for that or just omit it. I'm not sure I would use the heavy gauge wires that they use. 10 Ga seems the heaviest you can get away with on a Z, unless you want them to be noticed. I'm sure that we could discuss the correct wire, terminals & battery clamp/connection to use for this. I did like the idea of the aluminium battery clamp with the extra ho…

I just purchased a 72 240z project car that runs well. The only real problem with the interior for me is that the tach doesnt work. It wont work unless you hold the ignition key about 1/8th of an inch to the right, then all of a sudden it pops on. Does anybody have any advice on how to fix this problem? Its so weird, i can be cruising down the street and want to know what i am taching so i just turn the key to the right a bit and boom it comes on.

I will be picking up a rearview mirror (center) from a late model Monte Carlo soon, and I just would like to know what kind of electrical requirements it requires. I know it has two map/reading lights on the bottom, and I think it might be auto-dimming, and maybe even have a compas in it. When I looked, there were 3 or 4 light gauge wires coming from it, and those wires are the question. They could be from the door sensors, or running lights, etc. I'm not sure I would keep it in my Z permanently, but I'd like to at least check it out and maybe have it available for touring, then remove for shows. thx

I have tried everything but I cannot get it to start. I attached these pictures to see if someone can tell me what is wrong with my wiring set-up by my coil. My friend moved everything before I could label my wires and it has been a while since we took it apart. Is there supposed to be a connection fom the resister to the coil? Thanks for the help in advance

I was leafing thropugh the Nissan parts bood, and notices that there is a door light called a "assy-harness step lamp".part number 24016-E4100, that I have not seen before. I see it applies through 7/73, but I have only evere seen them installed in one car, and I believe those were actually taken from a 280zx and installed. Has anyone got a picture of the genuine article? Thanks, WIll

Hello all. I finally fixed the incorrect reading on my fuel gage. It wasn't electrical. I didn't have to bend the new sending unit either. At final count, the mechanic in training that swapped out the gas tank, had kinked vent hoses in three places. The kink that got it was from the top of the tank just over the sending unit. It appears he had misrouted two of the lines:finger:. He ran the afore mentioned line through the sleeve in the chassis, thus causing a serious kink in it. It took awhile, but persistence payed off.

I have two pairs of leads by the brake booster. One set is for the washer fluid pump, but I have no idea what the second set is for. I personally removed the tank for now and disconnected the first pair of wires, but I am trying to find out what the second set is for. Any idea?

My ignition switch failed the other day on my 1970 240Z so I tromped down to the local Napa to get another back of switch. Their part differed from what I had on my car, being a larger diameter than mine and unable to slide into the pot metal bracket. So I ordered from Motorsport and ended up with the same part as what Napa had. Nissan shows the application to be good for all 1970 thru 1983 cars, but obviously that's not true since it doesn't fit mine. Now it looks like I'm out $40 since Motorsport doesn't accept returns on electrical. Needless to say I'm not happy:ermm: . Anyone have any knowledge of different ignition switch/bracket for very early Z's? Looks like I…

Hi all. When I use the original rocker antenna switch I must manually return it to the center position. Is this due to age? When new, did the switch return to center detent when released? I found a Harada Antenna with the metal lower casing on Ebay, not the plastic kind. Harada Model Number MO-10 NIB NOS AM/FM. It is a semi-automatic. The body of this antenna is almost identical to the original antenna. The mast was slimer and it did not come with the same type of bezels, the bezel was flat, but oh well. Same mounting screw on the bottom though. Tried to bid on an original on ebay but the seller had already sold it. Prices are getting steep for used antennas.
