Car ran for about 50 miles then the tach jumped around and the car died will not restart. Put a rebuilt 79 electronic distributor in with a new E-1280 module. Wirring is correct. I even went as far as to energize the coil with 12 volts from the battery still no spark? Curious as to the relay on the firewall? Should i have to do anything with that doing this conversion? Car is a 73 240Z. Any help greatly appreciated :rambo:

Howdy. My alt has an internal short, showing battery voltage across the fusible link connectors (link removed), and so I got a new one after a test showed that the internal diode was bad. Connected the new alternator up as in the pic. Again, it showed the same internal short across the fusible link. ARGH. help? Is it possible that the condenser is at fault and how/where do I get a new one if it is? Thanks!

Did a recent conversion as per this forum on a 72 240Z. Ordered a rebuilt 79ZX Distributor with a E12-80 module wired everything up car ran great tach worked. Ran about 50 miles as i was driving the car the tach started jumping around the car sputtered and died and will not restart? Check all connection everything is tight also check power to the coil it has power on both the positive and negative side of the coil and does not flash with a test light uipon cranking of the engine? Do these E12-80 module have a tendancy to fail? Am i overlooking something? :surprised Any help would be great. Thanks

I don’t have a hazard switch/cant find one…and the turn signal power runs though the hazard. So I connected the 2 center green wires in the wiring diagram for the turn signals. Now the turn signals work correctly when I click left or right but when it’s in the center both flash (on the turn signal flasher…. NOT the hazard flasher…I have 2 different flashers so I can heard the difference) It shouldn’t be too hard but what do I need to do to prevent it from flashing when centered? (IE how dose the hazard switch allow power to go to the left and right but not when centered when hazard switch is off?)

Is it possible to use a 72 wiring harness in a 71 240z with little to no problems? I recently got my 71 and the wiring is a MESS... so i went to the junkyard and got a complete unmolested harness from a 72 complete with fusebox. I only got the rear harness and the dash harness though.

Hey Guys, I'm confused about my turn signal lights. The front and rear turn signal lights (both left and right) will illuminate when I actuate the turn signal lever but they won't flash.....the left pair when the lever is down and the right pair when it is up.... However, all will flash as normal when I activate the hazard warning switch. So I would think this proves the wiring to be OK. I have replaced the turn signal flasher. I have also removed the turn signal switch and cleaned it several times with contact cleaner. Prior to this cleaning effort the turn right hand turn signal lights wouldn't even come on.. So.....I'm guessing that I may have some corroded wiring …

Hey guys. Due to me not being able to handle this stuff for a while, I'm not going to be the contact for the alternator adapters. Please forward any further orders to David Irwin - Zs-ondabrain. Thanks for all your support.

I am having a heck of a time getting my fuse box and center dash wiring sorted, does anyone have a photo of where the Series 1 fuse box wiring harness is routed, and also where the defroster switch plugs into on the harness. My car is a 3 of 70 production. Thanks, Eric

Hi, First time to post here. I need some help. I have owned my 73 240 z for about 3 yrs. It is in the process of being refreshed. When I was taking it apart. I was shocked to find out that my Dash wiring harness has been cut 17 times and rewired with what looks like a hack job. I am in the process of putting it back together, and I can not figure this mess out. I have already purchased a body harness and an engine compartment harness. They were easy to find on Ebay. So to the question. Does anyone know where to get a used Dash wiring harness for a 1973 z. The part numbers are 24013-n3321 and 3322. Thanks for your help.

Has anybody seen these or does anybody have one? I thought they looked pretty cool for an aftermarket. Would like your input. http://www.glowshiftdirect.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=194

I was wondering if the alt from the zx is the best upgrade for a 260z. I can buy a 60 amp from advance auto that is made for the 260z but was wondering if that is the biggest or best for my mostly stock 260z Thanks Chris

....7 degress BTDC. It is fully rotated clockwise. I have not checked my timing since I bought the car in March. The PO installed an electronic ignition, but I do not know what kind. The car idles and drives fine, but I know that something is not right and want to fix it (this is not my primary car). After doing some reading, I understand that it could be one of a few things: 1) Worn out springs in the dizzy (unlikely to be this worn out though). 2) Dizzy rotated 180 deg. 3) Oil pump spindle installed incorrectly. I am leaning heavily towards number 3 with 2 a close second. Am I on the right track? Suggestions? 1972 Datsun 240z - Bone stock Currently in the midst of a re-…
