Can anyone of my fellow early series 1 owners look at their dash wiring harness part numbers (the ones by the glove box). My car has a 3/70 build date. I did a search and found the P/N for late 70-71 I just want to verify the early 70 P/N. Thank a bunch. Eric

I have an early 1970 Series 1 car so I purchased a 1970 service manual. Nice book, original printing from 1969 or 1970. But in the electrical section it does not mention the rear defroster at all. Even the wiring diagram does not show the defroster or switch. Here is a scan of the service manual the areas circled in red are where the defroster should be, I have a service bulletin from May 1970 that has a wiring diagram in it that shows the defroster but the service manual does not. Go figure!

Yay me, I fissed my AC. Tracked down about 100 miles of vacuum hose, fittings and electrical. Disassembled the dash, glove box, etc. Pulled the blower(it blows real hard, which is good), and managed to find the tiny vacuum leak that was causing my woes. Reassembled everything. AC blows cold. Defroster blows. Heat blows. (all of these things did not work before). But, they are all mixed up. AC makes the defroster blow, defroster makes AC go, etc. I remembered pulling out a part of the vacuum selector thingy (the part that gets actuated when selecting ac, def, etc) and it was geared. Which I immediately turned, and forgot about. AS I was disassembling hte dash, …

Hello, I'm new to these boards, but not so new to 280z's. I currently own a 1978 280z that the tail lights all of a sudden will not turn off. This problem just arose. I drive the car maybe once a week. I had to disconnect the battery terminal to disable power. Probably could have just removed a fuse but oh well. Any pointers, any ideas where I should start first. All other lights work fine.

The two wires that power the windshield washer pump in my 1972 240Z are always hot. Voltmeter reads about 14v. Pressing the washer button on the multi-function switch doesn't change the voltage. Suggestions on the source of the problem? - Bad multi-function switch? - Short in the wire harness? - Is 14v the correct voltage to power the pump? -rick IZCC #7509 1972 240Z 1982 280ZX

Hi all, I'm putting in the dash into my new project('72 240 Z). Near to the steering column there ate two wires hanging down, a yellow and a red one, one with a male and one with a female end. The wiring diagram mentions a "door not closed"-buzzer but I never had such athing in my Z. Do I have to connect these 2 wires or what to do with these? Thanks for help Rolf

Ok, so here is the situation (and yes I did do some searches, but I couldn't find anything of help)... This is the last major problem before I will have my Z road worthy and it's been a LONG road to here and I just want to fix this problem and be able to take my Z out for a nice spin and enjoy it finally! Ok, so the other day I went to work on my headlights (the high beams weren't working) and then I noticed the turn signals stopped. This was disheartining because they were working just a week ago. They do not flash in the tack at all. I don't think it's the flasher unit, because even if they are bad I think they will still show them as flashing in the tach, right? The…

It may be a stupid question but I have an argument with my son. Last year I installed an electric fuel pump to supply the mechanical one when the temperature in Las vegas goes up to 100F because of vapor lock and gas evaporation. He is the primary user of the car that is fully original with A/C. Since I have never been able to fix the problem of the electric pump to works without at least the parking lights being on, he tells me that the gas consumption is a lot higher.(there is something weird in the wiring harness to add this optional electric fuel pump that was part of the 73 set-up but optional on the 72) It seems that the gas consumption with the A/C on without the…

I have experienced some weird things with my tach, but only when it's really hot outside. For some reason, my tach will read incorrectly at times, where when the engine is not running, but the key is in the on position, the tach will point at 1k, although the engine is not running. I do know that the tach gets it's signal from the coil, so I checked all of my wiring, and everything is fine, but the tach would still read incorrectly. I allowed the engine to cool, and drove it later that night (it was 100* yesterday when this happened) and the tach read correctly again. What is wrong with my Z?

I've been trying to figure out what is wrong with my lights. I checked the fuses, I took apart the headlight switch, and I took the dash out and checked all connectors. None of the lights are unplugged or burnt out. BUT, my turn signals work. That's the only part of my lights that work. I'm stumped.
