My Z was broken into about two months ago, and the thieves stole my Pioneer head unit, and cut my wiring harness. I am finally getting tired of not having a radio, and I was going to install a tape deck/radio I have laying around for the time being. The only problem is that I am unsure which wire to use to run the direct battery power (usually yellow coming off of the deck, obviously something else on the Z's wiring harness) and the ignition power wire for the deck (which I think I know where it is already. If anyone can help, it's definitely appreciated!

I noticed while driving recently in my '75 280Z that periodically the needles in both the oil pressure and water tempurature guages will drop to 0 then after a few moments restore to what I believe is the correct readings. This appears to happen on a regular basis say every 20 seconds or so. Is there a common ground for this instrument? Or could this just be a bad gauge altogether?

Howdy Everyone! I am looking for the switch from a Japanese/European 240Z that allowed the side markers one each side of the car to operate independantly. The working condition of the switch is not important, but its cosmetic appearance is! Thanks for your thoughts and suggestions! Will

the car is a 72z with a 280 engine. I have electronic ignition in the car now, and am adding a msd 6al box with a blaster 2 coil. the challenge is in know how to hook it up to keep the old tach functioning. MSD tech support suggested a 8910 tach adapter and sent me a diagram showing how to hook it up. Does this thing work? Any suggestions? thanks john

Does anyone have any detailed photos of their column wiring? I found to pictures on this site but I need better photos. The PO really hacked the column wires up. I would take a picture but my camera just gave up on me. Looks like the PO cut out one of the connectors for some reason. I think it's the wires from the turn signal switch to the brake lights. Ok Here's whats going on. From the turn signal switch to the wires that have been cut and sort of soldered to these following wires. From switch White/Red soldered to Green/Blk From Switch Green soldered to black/yellow & a white wire with flat spad connector From switch White/blk soldered to Green/Red wire T…

I am changing from FI to triple webers on my 79 280zx, and was wondering how I was going to modify the wiring harness from the FI. Can I eliminate the wiring for the fuel injection, and ecu all together? What wiring would I have to keep to make this work. Would it be simpler just to get an aftermarket wiring harness like Painless wiring, or should I just cut the stock harness up? What would you guys recommend? THANKS

Ok I have a 71 that I put in an 81 motor with the 81 alternator. I need to wire the tach up. I have no idea if the tach worked prior. What do I need to do to get this to wire up. To get this car running I cut the black/white wire and green wire that go to the coil and have spliced them together in the engine bay. I ran these two wires to a relay so I can get a full 12 volts to the coil instead of I think I measured 6 volts or something that it was prior going to the coil. Any help please.

www.dakotadigital.com I am going to be using some of their guages and intigrate them into my aluminium dashboard. Look at the designer series...that is what I will be using. I also plan to ditch the distributor and, with my electrical engineer Dad, build a distributorless spark management system... can you say laptop time!!! I was just going to go with bigger wires but I saw 240Hoke's engine management with SDS on his 240Z with the 81 turbo motor and LOTS of mods...fgured it was time to go crazy. I don't know much about HAL sensors but I get the idea on how they work. I am still running roundtops but the ems will still be good to use when I go turbo...in the future. I thi…

I am set to send my MO to Dave for his headlight harness and am interested in finding out what are the best options for headlight replacement. I notice that ebay is pushing the H4 headlight, through various manufacturers, and am wondering is one better than the other? Your thoughts?

I have three electronic dizzys. One is for the 280zx turbo and is optical. The other two are NA versions. One has the E12-92 module with the additional contacts off the side. The last has what appears to be a aftermarket module with no identifiers. It does not have the additional contacts on the side though. My question is how many modules are there for these L6 engines? Is it correct in assuming the unmarked modules is the desired e12-80? Is upgrading my present 240Z dizzy (with the Allison XR-700 system) worth it or am I wasting time? There is no interest in going much beyond this as I hope to build a stroker in the near future and use my SDS to control ignition and f…

Hello all, I need a new battery for my '77 280Z. I went to get one from my local Nissan dealer because yes, I want a genuine Nissan Battery The guy at the parts desk said the part # is no longer available. He said he can get one if I give him what is called a group number which is on the battery to get the correct size. As of now I just got off work and I have my Z parked in my storage garage about 15-20 minutes away from my house. Would anyone here be able to tell me what the group number is? I'd greatly appreciate it Thanks in advance,
