I did the fan upgrade on my Z yesterday, putting in the 82 Honda fan to add a liitle more air movement. Upon completion I tried it out, worked great and then went for a drive. Immediately noticed that my tach and all of my gauges except for the speedometer didn't work. I noticed a blown fuse, replaced it and started the car, blowing another fuse. Not sure what I did to create this little problem but don't beleive that it should have anything to do specifically with the fan, as the fuse blows whether the fan is on or not. Any ideas of what I should check? Thanks!!

Any recommendations on a coil for a 72 240Z? Just replaced the plugs (Bosch Platinums), points, condenser, distributor cap and rotor (Bosch) and replaced the plug wires with Taylor 8.2mm Pro's. Is the standard coil good enough for that or should I look for a replacement i.e Mallory, Flame Thrower etc.? Thanks!

I've removed my dash to install a Vintage Air System and I'm currently in the process of reinstalling it. I have everything working except for my Oil Pressure and Water Temperature gauge. I also have a small electrical device that I don't understand. The device is a small metal cylinder that had one bolt holding it to the inside of the dash. It has a light inside it for some reason and the light turns on when the other dash lights are turned on. It is connected to the lights and has one connection to the side of the cigarette lighter. I took a picture and put it in my gallery, but it's pending approval. I don't think this device is causing any problem, but I'm just curiou…

I have no front drivers side directional and intermittent passenger front directional, the rears work fine hazard and turn. I took apart the hazard switch and cleaned it and all connectors with elec. contact cleaner. My car is a 72 with an 81 turbo motor with 77 electronics & dash. I also have a78z and pulled the flasher and switched them, same result. I cleaned the light switch on the column with cleaner also. When I put the multimeter in the bulb socket when the flasher is on the meter jumps from 0 to 6-8 volts. I think it's getting all but turing off and on quick for the meter. But the bulb doesn't light. Yet the same bulb lights fine when the parking lig…

The fan motor in my '73 240 is apparently kaput. It makes a high-pitched squealing sound, and does not produce much air flow. I've been told that a fan from a Honda Prelude will fit the car, and will produce more air flow than the original ever did. However, the guy who told me this was apparently giving me second or third hand info, and doesn't know exactly what year model or Honda part number to look for. Can anyone help me by identifying exactly which fan motor will work? Also - if you have done this to your car, please let me know how well it worked. Thanks! and I apologize if I'm asking a question that's been asked a hundred times before...I just discovered…

If I remember correctly when everyone was talking about the switch to an internally regulated alternator somebody mentioned that the diode prevents power from traveling back through the wire? Are there different sizes or ratings? What would be best for automotive light wiring? Thanks in advance. Scott

Anyone versed or patient enough to help me with a electrical issue? I am trying to install a switch and push button system on my 73 240 in lieu of the old key switch. Things looked like they would work but something has me confused. I hope my description instead of a drawing works; 1) White/Red wire brings power to the on/off switch, which passes the power onto the momentary push button, which in turn allows power to the starter via the Black/Yellow wire. This seems to work fine. 2) I have tapped into the wire between the switch and push button with the Black/White wire that supposedly runs to the fuse panel and seems to run the fuel pump(among other things?). This s…

Where should I start to investigate about this problem? The alternator has been changed last year and the voltage regulator about two years ago. Could it be a bad contact somewhere?

Hi guys: I searched high and low on how to actually get the ignition lock cylinder out of the ignition lock assembley. Mine can be turned with a paper clip its so worn, and I can get a new cylinder only and get a key cut for it. So I took the assembly off, and someone has already tampered somehow with it because those safety screws are missing. I cant get access to just the cylinder. It doesnt come out the back, and the front is capped with the bezel. The bezel looks like its stamped on there permanently. I dont know if you have to do something to the sides to get it out or force the front bezel off and I dont want to break it...looks fragile die cast. Any help would be…
