Ok ..so I am not very good with electrical problems .. I am good with mechanical stuff. But I need to fix these little issues myself. I am wondering if anyone would be kind enough to point me in the right direction. I just need some pointers to get started on these little faults. I am just not too sure where to start looking for the problems. I have look at all the obvoius ones like fuse panel, wire conections etc. Problem 1 My washer pump does not work. It had always leaked anyway so didnt use it, but the pump did work. I have bought a seperate pump that should work fine .. the bottle doesnt leak , I have hooked up the two wires to the new pump (both ways to see if th…

It looks like the coil in my 240Z is failing. I have the later 280ZX electronic ignition on it, so I need a good coil to use with that. What coils are you guys using? Any favorite brands or models? I really don't care what color it is, but it needs to work well with the ZX ignition, and either come with it's own bracket, or fit into the factory 240Z bracket. Suggestions?

I was fiddling with my ZX distributor today and noticed an electrical connection I had not seen before. I have a 240 and the car runs fine without it...I am just wondering what it is for. It is in the first picture right behind the vacuum advance thingy. The other item I'm not sure about is the yellow wire in pictures 2 and 3. The second picture is a close up and the third shows the origin next to the dizzy. The yellow wire was taped back and not in use since I purchased the car when it had the original points setup. Thanks!

I have completely restored my '71. After putting all of the interior and dash back in, I turned on the antennae and the fuze blew. I tried it again and it blew another fuze. I had everything out of the car. I installed the antennae just like it was before. I wonder where the short is? The hot wire for the antennae motor is grounded somewhere. Anyone have any ideas? I wonder if I take this to a shop if they can find the short for me? I REALLY do not want to take the rear panels off. I guess if that is the only way, I can do it, again.

Anyone know what runs off the Flasher fuse in a 240Z? I 've got a big electric issue with the Flasher fuse, the amp gauge reads +ve and the indicators work till this fuse blows. It gets so hot the fuse holders have melted the plastic and I burnt my finger as solder ran out of the fuse!!!

Can anyone give me the original part#'s for the left and right horns from a 1973 240Z? Also, were these used on any other years? I'm missing my left horn and looking to replace one or both with the same type.

I'm going to get rid of the clock and put in a Ammeter or voltmeter. I've heard convincing arguements for both at the expense of the other. My question is: Which one gives a better indication of the charging system? I only have the real estate for one.

Hello all. I am putting my Z back together and I have all the wires connected except for a black wire on the turn signal side and a red wire on the headlight switch side. Do they go into each other? Or, where do they go? My production date is 10/70. Thanks all. Rick.

Went out to the shop to start up my Z Car and got an ugly surprise. When I turned the ignition switch the engine starter engaged and the engine fired for about 2 seconds then the starter began a loud whirling noise without engagement. Even worse than that was the fact that when I turned the key off the activity continued. So I opened the hood and pulled the nuetral disconnect terminal by the battery and no effect. So I grabbed a wrench and pulled the positive clamp off the battery. Wow! So if any members have experienced this I would like to know where to start (no pun intended). Starter soleniod? Ignition switch? Both? Thanks!

Hi all, am looking for a good used tach for my early 70 Z. Don't want to go aftermarket, as the speedometer and tach won't match and I want to stay original anyway. Any ideas?

When I got my ZCar the first thing I tested was the tail lights and brake lights and they worked just fine. Since I got the car I have really done no electrical work other than replace some bulbs and take off the heater console cover to replace and see what is inside. I also removed and reinstalled the clock. I have also washed the engine compartment since I got the car. Now, for some reason, the tail lights and brake lights don't work at all but when I depress the brake pedal (whether the car is on or not) the interior dash lights and the front parking lights light up. They turn off when I take my foot off the pedal. I finally got a test light and started poking aroun…
