Has anyone found a good cruise control for the 240Z. I installed one on my 1972 years ago but it quit working and am looking for a good replacement after a recent restoration.

took the car out for a drive, while on the road constant speed smooth highway, the ammeter starts going nuts, 60+ then about -30 amps. then settle down then starts up again, lasting several seconds. I heard NO odd noises (but a 70mph prob would not hear over road noise anyway). No other indication of problems (radio fine, lights seemed normal (I turned on the HL to soften the charging down to about 30 amps indicated). I was not far from home so just disconnected the VR and drove on home, no more intermittent anything, just a constant to be expected discharge rate. Installed a new backup VR that had been tested on a running engine, same thing random wild swings b…

First of all I’d like to thank all of you who have added so much value to these forums. I’d be lost without the information I’ve gathered through HOURS and HOURS of reading and taking notes. I’ve spent the last few weeks working on the lighting. After reading countless threads and making many mistakes I think I have finally got the mock up wiring ready for final crimping and wrapping. Thank you electrical gurus for sharing your knowledge so freely, it’s been fun putting it all together. Question for the group, I’ve installed relays on the headlights and park/tail circuits to reduce the load on the switches/fuse box. All bulbs with the exception of headlights and inter…

Hello everyone I had a question about voltage. I am a newbie when it comes to wiring and electrical but I did my research and read the forums. I have a 1977 280z and it looks like someone’s been in there trying to figure out the issue. Missing bolts etc. anyways with my multimeter I tested the coil and the resistor and voltage. the voltage was off.. well there was none with the key on the on position, testing on the first terminal on the resistor. so this is what I checked, I went to the battery and checked the cables those are good, car turns over. I looked at the wiring diagram and found the black and white wire that leads to the ignition relay. That…

I recently purchased a very stock 1978 280Z, with the exception of an aftermarket sound system. I'm reinstalling the original AM/FM radio with the antenna switch. Unfortunately, I just discovered that the car doesn't have the original power antenna. Does anyone have an OEM power antenna, can recommend a source for one, or alternately can recommend an OEM replacement that will work with the manual up/down switch? Thanks!

Previous owner installed a MSA fuse box in the 73 240Z. Installed in the stock location. it appears to be too tall. The “door” containing the indicators won’t shut all the way; someone broke it trying to push it down. the fuses seem to be taller than those in the sales photos. (See my pics below.) Is this possible? Anybody run into this? Suggestions? edit: here’s a pic from the seller...

I have a 72 240Z that has a screwed up combo switch. Need to determine if it's fixable or if I need to replace it. Blinkers work fine, left and right and front and back. I have no headlights at all on low beam. On high beam, I have a bright passenger side light and a dim driver's side light. Guidance on where to start would be much appreciated.

So I was trying to be creative with some wiring for headlight relays in a 78 280Z. When I looked at the terminals in connectors C-2 and C-4, I realized it wasn't going to be so easy. The male terminals are 2.8mm, but they aren't like the typical 2.8mm terminals you find in a 240Z. Between the crimp and the flat area of the terminal, there are side walls. I haven't seen this type terminal before. Does anybody know a name for them? @Captain Obvious?

240 shows 13.40 at idle on the positive and negative post. 14.45 volts at 2,000 rpm. Belt is snug, battery and alternator are both old. Any advice would be appreciated. Amp gauge sits dead in the middle, never forward just backwards when brake lights or turn signals are on. Thanks in advance. Cliff

yesterday i got a 280z . today I started digging in to it and I realized I was not getting any spark. I tested the coil which nothing happed, so I took the coil out of my 280zx and just tested if it was just an issue with the old coil but even with the new coil their was nothing. I took the distributor cap off and cleaned all of the contacts and was still getting no spark. and just to see if something was up I reconnected everything and sprayed starting fluid in the manifold and it fired up for a second then died i went to spray a little more in and their was no more spark. Anyone know what the issue could be ? Update I cleaned up all of the connections and Their i…
