None of the lines in the grid are still functional. I don't expect to need the defogger function, and I'm considering scraping the whole grid off. Has anyone done this - is there any downside? Is the grid somehow partly etched in the glass, and will leave a mark anyhow? If so, I'll just leave it alone.

Hey guys I just got back home after doing some work on the 260z. When I bought the car it did not have a fan or fan clutch (honestly no idea why), so after I finally got the car running and the brakes and clutch in order my last step was to install a fan, the prices were higher than i expected so I just decided to do a electric fan setup. So I bought a Hayden electric fan relay wiring kit, and a small 12inch fan (with plans on adding a second one soon, I just really want to drive the car. I believed I had everything wired up correctly, relay to ground and positive battery terminal, one wire to ignition coil, one wire to thermostat, and one wire to the fan (fan was grounde…

So this is an odd one - I opened my engine relay bracket (the one under the black metal cover on the passenger's side) to clean the teeth on the relays and noticed one relay wasn't plugged in and there doesn't seem to be a connector for it on the harness (top middle). Any ideas what's going on here? The car runs as-is but I'm just curious

Hi Guys... my 73 240z had a fuel gauge working fine. Last month it went intermittent on me, reading very low, then finally stopped. So I checked the fuel level sending unit and yes, it was leaking from the top connection. I figured this was also why I smelled gas when the tank was about half full. So I bought an OEM replacement sending unit and figured a 30min job to swap it out. I drained the fuel tank, got the old one out without dropping the tank and hooked the new one up. Two days later, dozens of searches and hundreds of pageviews and I still can't get the gauge to read anything. I'm seeing the fuel sending unit reading a low fuel level with an Ohm meter, so t…

Hey guys, My old alternator failed, so I decided to upgrade the alternator to an 80amp alternator from zcardepot: https://zcardepot.com/products/alternator-high-amp-80-240z-260z-280z . I did some research on how to rewire some of the components to accept the new alternator, and this is all I could come across. He used the same alternator I got for his 240z. Is there anything specific differences between the 240z and 280z that I need to watch out for regarding alternator wiring? I am not sure how I should setup the wiring, besides what I found from that forum post. I figured I would just copy what he did, but any advice would be wonderful so I don't fr…

I have recently put a new head gasket on my l28 and after I put it back together it won't start I thought it was the timing chain out a bit but I took the timing cover back off and that all lines up. All I can think of is the distributor because the distributor and the oil pump sharft can both move separately when there out of the engine and I am not sure how to get the distributor back to firing on the 1st cylinder at the right time. Any help will be much obliged

I have had a few ask if there is any problem running the 123ignition with the old tachometer. To my knowledge there is no problem. However, if you do need to have your tachometer repaired there are two companies that do the conversions to add modern electronics so they will work with the modern ignitions of today. I had mine repaired in 2006 by JDO in the UK. I can't say enough good about them and their service. They are: http://www.jdo1.com/ and http://www.nisonger.com/ If you have any issues and fixes post them here.

took the car out for a drive, while on the road constant speed smooth highway, the ammeter starts going nuts, 60+ then about -30 amps. then settle down then starts up again, lasting several seconds. I heard NO odd noises (but a 70mph prob would not hear over road noise anyway). No other indication of problems (radio fine, lights seemed normal (I turned on the HL to soften the charging down to about 30 amps indicated). I was not far from home so just disconnected the VR and drove on home, no more intermittent anything, just a constant to be expected discharge rate. Installed a new backup VR that had been tested on a running engine, same thing random wild swings b…
