The distributor in my 240Z has a bit of play in the shaft. I have another distributor in a box of spares I got with the car that seems nice and tight, but is pretty dirty. I thought I'd disassemble it, clean it up, put new points & condenser on it and give it a try. Maybe take the best parts from both dizzys. The vacuum advance is kinda sticky on both the one in the car and the spare. Do any of you have any advice or other insight on the subject? Are there areas that should be lubricated and what should I use for lubrication? It looks like if I'm not careful it would be real easy to get it 180 degrees off on reassembly. Dumb question, but I'm asking anyway. How many bulbs, and what type are in the speedometer housing, and the tachometer housing, and are they replaceable without taking the housings out? Thanks in advance, Spdloader 1976 280Z cpe

I recently installed an electric fuel pump on my 72 z to cure the vapor lock problem. I found the wires taped as described at the back of the car. I also found the "L" connectors taped on the driver's side of the console. The problem is the pump works only when the light switch is on.

Ok, this makes no sense. I redid the points on the dist today in the counterclock order of 1,5,4,3,6,2. Obviously, this is wrong as the normal firing order is 1,5,3,6,2,4. But the real kicker is this- the engine still ran with the messed up firing order (my guess would be it was only running on 2 cylinders, or 3 at best). But not only did it run, it ran great, minus the hesitation under acceleration. It started up like a dream and ran beautifully. It didn't backfire on idle (like it always does), and ran rather nicely. It's very odd. Tomorrow I will go redo the points like they should be and see what happens. Maybe I have a messed up a 260? The rotor can't be flipped 180 …

Dashboard and tailights/parking quit working. I took the shroud off the column to check out the light/wiper control. On top there are 4 soldered wires. 3 show hot when tested. How can I confirm the control is the culprit for tail and dash lights not working? Thanks

Here's a CC paragraph from my post in the Fuel Injection Forum... "So I'm cruzin' down the highway 70 mph for a few minutes waiting to see if the sputtering is going to start again. I thought I felt a few tiny misses and after I pulled off down a local road... wham! Ignition just stops as if the key had been turned off and then when I started the engine it came back. I stopped for a moment then pulled back into traffic and then again. The engine just stops but this time it's not restarting. So as I'm sitting in the parking lot waiting for my wife to come by and tow me home I'm thinking this is something electrical and possibly heat related. There may have been some block…

Greetings All, Does anyone have wiring instructions for the European Tail Lights...? There are openings for 2 bulbs, one on each end, of the red lense sectiion. Should both these bulbs be dual filiment for both the tail (running lights) and brake lights? I know the amber section is for the turn signal. And the clear section is for the backup light. Many thanks

I'm having the rubber grommet that goes around the engine bay wireing harness at the firewall reproduced. It will fit the 73 and early 74. Not sure about the later years. The outer diameter is about 2 1/2 inches and the inner diameter of the rubber boot is 3/4". If anyone is interested in one let me know and we can reduce the price with eachone made.

I just read in the EFI book that a bad tach signal to the ECU can cause certain problems. My tach wire to the ECU is reading 8.4 volts during the test due, I think, to the resistor I've added to make my tach work. Has this caused anyone problems before? I'm going to try moving it so the ECU gets full voltage.
