Today I installed a 105 Amp alternator from Z Specialties. Let me just say that I have owned my baby for 32 years and it has lots of mods and non-stock replacement parts. This has to be, by far, one of the best things I have ever done to my car. It is truly amazing…. Why I waited so long to do this heaven only knows. Everything seems to work better. Lights are brighter but not overly so. My little 35 watt stereo sounds better and the car just seems to run better and I haven’t a clue why unless its just me. I turned every electrical thing on, lights, PIAA fogs, stereo, rear-defroster, blower, wipers, signals, and at idle there was not a blip…. On my original a…

My '71 240Z T/S switch needs replacing. I notice VB has different ones depending on the year Z. Courtesy shows one switch for 76-78. What gives? My car was built 2/71.

Guys: I have been having starting problems (different thread) and had 12 volts coming off of my Ignition switch. I now have 4. Battery is definitely good... The noise (a sick sounding moan) is coming from the glove box area, so I assume it is an ignition relay but I don't have a service manual? Any thoughts or ideas? I've exhausted the local Nissan dealership mechianics expertise and am pretty much lost at this point???? Thanx Dan

I have a new alternator and I think a bad voltage regulator. My book says to determine alternator output measure voltage from the A terminal on the alternator to the negative terminal on the batt. Mine measured 22-24 volts. I don't know how to measure the voltage from the voltage regulator to the batt. I can tell that there is way to much voltage going to the system. Any advice????? Thanks as always Phil

About a year ago my antenna stopped retracting, but the motor was still working. I decided that I was going to buy one of those oem replacement masts that have been offered on ebay. I bought it and I am really pleased with the quality and originality. I took off some of the panels to get to the antenna unit and I found that it was covered with Zbart. After disassembling the unit, I found that it had old grease and corrosion everywhere. It would be a lot easier to just buy a new antenna, but I am going to restore the one I have. Has anyone done this before? If anybody has any experience, please chime in here. I have not taken it apart completely, but I am going to …

Hey all, I got these wonderful instructions from a very nice guy on ebay when I bought a harness from him a while back. I was wondering if anyone needed a copy they are very thorough and give a detailed list of parts needed , replacement parts, breakdown of the distributor and trouble shooting for the distributor as well as the tach. These are for the install of the stand alone ignition from later z. Its in a acrobat format, 10 pages long and is about 1.5 meg if I am correct. Just pm with your email address and I will be glad to send them. Thanks all

I have a 1971 240Z that has a tach that operates intermittently. There are days it works fine, other days it stays at a fixed reading. I want to get it working consistently. Suggestions, ideas? Thanks.

http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5069&highlight=fan+fuse I'm having the same issue as this thread in that my fan never comes on. I've checked and the accessory relay activates as it should, but there is no voltage on the contacts. The wiring diagram suggests there is a 20 amp inline fuse somewhere, but I haven't found it yet. Any suggestions where to look on my '73?

I spent the last 30min searching the forums for the solution to the little problem I am having and have not really found a answer. I put a electric fuel pump in my 71 and used the wiring that is in the car for a electric fuel pump. I have the fuel pump connected to the existing wires for a electric fuel pump that are at the tank sending unit. The - wire that is in the harness is grounded to the chassis at some point. The + wire goes to a T plug that was taped to the wire harness behind the radio with blue tape. At this time there is no battery in the car and I am running the fuel pump off of a 12V power source connected to the T connector behind the radio and gro…
