hi all, just finished installing new rear hatch glass weatherstrip (after you do it once, you learn enough technique to do a million) and have a question???? when i pulled the dome light trim off and disconnected the rear window defogger connections, i found a ground strap buried in the trim. it is about 6" long, 1/2inch wide flat copper braided wire with 2 round eyelet ends. one end is screwed to the roof frame and the other is just crimped and dangling. it's too short to attach to the hinge and i don't REALLY think it is original since the screw is just slotted (not phillips or cad plated) which doesn't look oem but it looks old and weathered enough to be original. any…

So I just got my pair of Xenon HID headlamps for my Zed. I'm excited! Got 'em on E-Bay for $10.95 plus shipping, which was like $10 bucks because they're fragile. It looks like they have built-in foglights of somesort- there is a small 12 volt blue light bulb on the bottom part of the light. Interesting..... Anyways, I went out to the Z to see how they install and I am guessing you have to remove the front fender to access the headlight unit? So much time. Is there an easier way to do this?? Thanks. I'll post pictures of the light assemblies sometime soon. They are sealed high/low beam units with Xenon/Krypton charged HID lightbulbs that burn something like 60% cooler …

ok, so my gas gauge reads three quarters full when it is full. as you might expect it is kinda nerve wracking to look at the gauge and see it on empty and not know how much gas is left. recently my oil pressure gauge stopped working, it turned out to be a bad connection at the oil pressure sensor in my motor. Do you guys think that the same thing might be what is causing my gas gauge problem. if so, where would there be a faulty connection, and if not, what else could cause this problem?

Put a new ballast resistor on the car today. It worked great for a bit then the car died like a switch had been thrown. Felt the BR and it felt fairly hot. The car sat for a while and then it started back up. Did the same thing over again. Any ideas? Car has new cap rotor points condenser. Additionally I have put a new alternator and voltage regulator.

The points on the car seem to be pitting and "burning" quick. The other issue is the car was running pretty good. It would start warm up and rev freely. Now it starts and idles but that's about it. I have read the threads and it seems to be a condenser thing. I am ordering the pertronix today so that is the next step. Still wonder what causes the excessive voltage or what in the points. 72 240 stock. been sitting for 11 years. gas seems ok. po cleaned the fuel system i think but i am going that way today. Nice that this engine is exactly like the roadster just a little longer.

O.k. so I got the interior harness out of the parts car but it's been sitting exposed to weather for 13 yrs. Do you think cleaning up the connectors would do it or would the wires be just plain dry rotted? I would prefer to make a copy but I lack electrical knowledge. In other words what is the best way to go about starting this , type of wire ? increase ga. or go with origional?,reuse connectors? Thanks.

Ok, I've done the search and read the results. There are some interesting upgrades out there but none that I can find that keep and use the original holders and covers. I also need to find out the amperage of the three fusible links in my car. I think they are 1 x 80 amp (black) and 2 x 30 amp (brown). I have attached a scan of the wiring diagram, but all this shows is them numbered as #1, #3 and #4. I am currently making up some new spade connecters to either bolt or solder to the original spade connecters so that I can utilise modern cartridge type fusible links in lieu of the old style wire ones but keep the original holders and covers. I'll take pictures along the way…

Just brought the "new" home. 72 240 all original except for the wheels. Bought from the classifieds here. The car has no power to the fuse labeled ignition. If you bridge from the next fuse labeled flasher power will go to the ignition switch. With tester voltage always present to the flasher. Any ideas what to check next. Once the car is started everything guages ect work. A bit puzzling...

Hello....I have been a club member for a couple years and up to now have only read the mail....I was talking to a neighbor, a fellow Z nut, he said he had heard that there is one model honda wiper motor that will bolt into the 240Z. I said " you mean the blower motor" and he said no...the wiper motor. Have any of you heard about this swap? Regards, Livenbad
