Does anyone know how to take the arms off of a Zs clock. Im going to put the 240z clock face onto my old 260s clock because I know the 240s arn't the most reliable and my 260z one was working fine. Thanks, Wes

Hello all, My car is having a problem with its electrical system. A couple weeks ago I was driving on the highway and my car lurched a couple of times. It kind of felt like the power was turning on and off. It did it that one time and not again until today. What is happening is that the speedo needle is jumping around from 500-1500rpm constantly when idling while the idle is unaffected. This only started happening when the car started lurching. I cleaned the battery connections and checked the ground as well. The car starts fine and runs great half of the time. The worst of it was when the car just turned off at a light. I cranked and cranked and it wouldn't start. I…

Howdy all, I'm new to this (great site, btw), bought my first car ever this past spring, a refreshed 280Z, manufactured in 12/77 (so is it a '77 or '78?) and had great fun driving it around this summer. Silver gray with black racing stripes (some love it, some don't). Been doing maintenence stuff to it since. ANYWAYS, the dilemma: Had difficulty starting (would start great 1/2 the time, grind the other 1/2), so I took the starter solenoid apart, then took off the starter itself to look at the gear: normal condition. Put it back on, and wired it the same as before (or so I think) & started the car and then turned it off. 2 hours later, the car wouldn't start- thou…

Is there a way to convert a 4 wire tachometer to a three wire? My 73 240 has a 3 wire that is malfunctioning and I have a spare 4 wire that works. Supposedly the 3 wire is the more reliable one, but I want to try to use this spare. I looked through the threads but couldn't find anything on this. Thanks, Victor.

My dome, glove box and clock do not work, I tested the switches for continuity and all were good along with the fuse. I'm not too good with the multimeter yet and I need to know the best or anyway to test for power.I'm not getting any reading on the meter. So either no power or improper testing. I also assume all are on the same circuit. Thanks

Having a problem with my 1972 240 Z. When I turn on the headlights the engine seems to idle worse, turn off the lights and it smooths right out. Anybody know what might be causing this? Brian

I have a stock 73 240Z in terms of the electrical system. No added parts to draw extra power. Is there a standard amount of draw I can safely add to the car without affecting other systems? I mean, if I add a 20 amp draw will it cause significant loss across the rest of the system? I'm specifically thinking about removeing the clutch fan and putting in an 8.5 amp draw electric fan. I just want to make sure I won't run into any problems. I'm also thinking about better stereo, etc so I'm trying to make sure I'm OK with what I have. Thanx for any info!!! Justin

well.... i don't know what happened, but all of a sudden my brake lights quit working. it's not the bulbs and there aren't any obvious problems. coincidentally (or not) when i turn on my lights the left connector of the "tail" fuse gets hot and has since melted the plastic (GRRRR).... HELP! this is my daily driver and only car, and before anyone tells me to search i already have to no avail.... anyway, thanks

Hi everyone. I have a '70 240Z, manual trans, pretty stock. Prior owner had pretty much neglected it (left it sitting in a garage), then jerryrigged some stuff, painting other stuff black before selling it to an unsuspecting buyer (um..me). Since then, I've had the carbs remanufactured, ingnition coil replaced, voltmeter cleaned up, gas tank dropped and cleaned, and now I'm tackling the electrical stuff (BTW, I'm a Biologist, not a mechanic or engineer, but I'm willing to learn, which is a big reason I got this car). This car runs really nice now, and outside of placing insulation padding under the carpet (that topic is another thread), possibly replacing the air cleaner …

Does anyone have the correct wiring diagram for a Crane XR700 Wiring Diagram for my 1973 240Z? My car came with one installed, and it seems to be working alright, but I can't get my tachometer to work. I don't know if the tach is fried, or it's just hooked up wrong.
