Anyone know what is going on? My 73 Z is acting up. When I use the turn signal, the exterior lights go on but they do not flash. The arrow signals inside do not light up. The hazards still work fine. Any ideas. Zover

My Annual Lecture! How to prepare your car for the "dark season" According to regular servicing data for 2001, around 36 percent of the vehicles inspected had defective lamps. In the dark months of fall and winter in particular, fully functioning lights are the most important guarantee of road safety. Defects such as faulty brake lights or indicators usually go unnoticed by the driver inside the car. Moreover, faulty headlamp settings cannot be detected with the naked eye. So please - check your vehicle’s entire lighting system, from the headlamps to the reversing lights - make sure you can see and be seen better in the fall and winter months and reach your destination …

Can I get some enlightenment about how the fuel warning lamp operates? I did some stuff with test lamp during summer and found out that one of the wires at the dash light is always hot, so I think there's a switch inside the tank level sender? My warning lamp has never worked yet, even after a couple tank-fuls.I usually fill the tank half-way. Bad sender maybe? The gauge seems to read correctly. thx. happy holi-daze.

Hey guys- I have a stock electrical system in my 72 240, with the addition of an electric fan. The amp gauge sits at ~10A when running, goes to ~30A (on a 45A gauge) when the EFan kicks in. Tuesday, I was out driving in stupid heat, and the fan ran the whole time (as did the AC, heh heh). Now, when the car is running (fan off) and the battery is partially discharged (from idling with the fan on, or starting up, etc.) the gauge shows about ~20A. When the fan comes on, it DROPS to about 10A. Basically, it's behaving like the alternator can put out only 20A now, and if I try to ask for more, it goes into limp mode, dropping to 10A. Does that make sense? What should I l…

Hi all, I don't know if I'm observing something that is normal or not ( I don't think so but,......). With Summer here and long daylight hours, I haven't driven at night lately so maybe I'm just being paranoid but, on my last trip I've noticed that with the headlights on, my AMP meter is reading about an 1/8 of the way into the negative side of the gauge. This caught my attention as being odd. Driving during the daytime with lights off course, the needle is stable down the middle. I've also noticed that when the ventalation fan is on now, the neeedle moves slightly into the negative side of the gauge. I've replaced the battery, and the voltage regulator with no change…

The last time I drove my 280Z, the tacho worked, but last week I was cleaning the intake, then covered the car for a few days of rain and now the tacho quit working! I thought maybe I broke a connection or something. Does the sensor wire go from the coil to the tacho, thought the firewall by the battery? I was trying to trace the wire, but it's not easy with the covering. :hurt: BTW, where's the ballast resistor on a 78 280Z (F.I.)? thx

Is the 260z clock a direct replacement for the crapped out 240 one? I guess that the dims are the same but what about connectivity?

Does anyone know of a beginner automotive electronic testing book that contains info on how to use a multimeter to test and diagnose? I know the theory but have no practical knowledge yet.
