Hello everyone! I desperately need help with the wiring of the wiper relais. I have chosen the path to completely rewire my car with an universal wiring harness - uuunfortunately I have ripped off all plugs from the old harness and recycled some plug housings already - so I am not able anymore to trace which wire colors went to which contact on the wiper relais. Until yesterday I was not even aware that the wiper motor & switch were connected to a relais in between - only after studying the "Windshield Wiper Motor Connecting Diagram" I came to the conclusion there´s more than the motor and the switch.... Unfortunately none of the wiring diagrams I have found, s…

A friend pointed out a very nifty electrical accessory he found. It is a battery mounted multi-fuse box with various inputs and outputs.. Seems brilliant given the multiple fused outputs, both low and high current, and compact fit-on-top design. And the price! A hefty £37 British pounds. Shipping for two of them cost me an additional £14 pounds. Pretty cheap. Did not come with any fuses, but they common types. MIDI and MAXI Hang a couple of relays on the side of this thing, and you could have quite the nerve center for any well equipped resto mod Datsun https://www.autoelectricsupplies.co.uk/product/1100 This outfit has lots of other interes…

In trying to troubleshoot another electrical glitch, I noticed that one of my 2.0^2 mm fusible links had damaged insulation and the wire inside was corroded. Was this due to overheating? I had removed, cleaned, and coated the contacts last year. Should I consider replacing the fusible links with a pair of high amp fuses? If so, any suggestions on which model? There was a nice one on this forum a few years ago that would accept two fuses and had a volt and amp display for $30; but it's no longer available. Or should I just purchase a replacement link? Thanks Jeff

I have a set of headlight buckets on my series I 240Z, that does not have the spring or tab inside for adjustment like my series II 240Z. Are they different or do I have a set of buckets in my series I car from something else? Not sure there is any way to adjust the light on my series I car currently.

Recently acquired a series I car where the glass lenses for the fuel and oil pressure gauges are so loose that they ratter and lay against the needles so the gauges don't read properly. I want to get them out of the IP to repair, hopefully without pulling the IP or coming in from the passenger side through the glove box and destroying my glove box liner. Is it possible?

First time problem. When key goes to accessory position, everything seems to work: radio, interior lights, Interior fan. When I switch to “on” position, all interior lights dim. When I turn the key to the right, The starter never attempts to turn over and all electrical except for the clock shuts off immediately. If I remove the key for about a minute, I can put the key back in and have the same accessory position items powered up. Of note, even in the accessory position, if I draw an amp load (for example the power antenna or turning the fan up) everything will shut down again for a couple of minutes. It’s like anytime I apply an electrical load a breaker is breaking a…

Hi guys, Odd question for you. One of my tach illumination lights died (the other 4 still work). A week later, the left indicator dash tach light died, and today the right one died (the front & rear exterior indicator lights all work however). I tried to remove the tach but 90 minutes later I couldn't get it out (on account of the dash cap's lip that surrounds the gauge. I also was able to unplug the 2 general light connectors behind the dash after a bunch of fiddling hoping to see some corrosion, but they look brand new. I also took a look at the bulbs, and they aren't burned out. Anyone have any other ideas? -chase

So I was working on a customer's 280Z today, and I managed to isolate/solve a couple of his electrical issues, but there is one with the parking light circuit that I haven't been able figure out quite yet. I had to replace the headlight switch because his old switch had heat damage from the headlight circuit overheating. The pin that operates the rocker would no longer stay in place. I had a spare switch that I needed to re-solder the parking light wires to the switch body. The switch operates normally, but the parking lights won't come on. I checked the resistance of the green/white wire to ground. It was about two ohms even with all of the side marker bulbs ou…

Hello, I would like make sure I am getting the proper voltage to my ignition system. I have the stock set up with the two post ballast resistor. Here are my measurements: Ballast Resistor: 1.6 ohms Ballast Resistor: 10.9v going in an 5.1v going out Coil: Primary 1.7 ohms Secondary 8.95 ohms Coil (Car Running): 7.6v on the positive tab and 3.8v on the negative. Can someone confirm what voltage/ resistance I should be getting to the resistor, from the resistor, to the coil, and from the coil? Thanks for the help, Bill

I’ve noticed that the Engine Coolant temp and the oil pressure read high at random intervals. If I come to a stop/idle the oil pressure can be up to 45psi, when driving around 35mph it can be up to 55mph. The water temp goes from being in the middle, to sitting on the right of the gauge. originally I thought the issue was a problem somewhere in the cooling system, or that the oil system had a blockage. (Briefly inspected to make sure it was not the source of problem) I was thinking perhaps this is a grounding issue, I’ve noticed that the voltmeter kinda waves and flutters 12v-13v. Has anyone seen an issue like this? Ive started tracking the car more, and re…

Greetings I don’t know if buzzer need to sound off when passenger door is open. Forgive my ignorance. when key is in ignition, open driver door, buzzer sound off. However, buzzer didn’t sound off when passenger door is open. I set the dome light to be on if the doors open. Dome light is on when driver or passenger door is open. wonder if it by design or some loose wires regards
