I fear the previous owner may have jury rigged some of the electrical. I have the Haynes manual, but I still am not clear on how the started should be connected. I just bought a new starter and am trying to hook it up. Haynes p.150 fig 10.19 shows 's' 'b' 'm' terminals. I found the black and yellow that goes to the 's' terminal, but I don't see any black cable for the 'b' terminal. Is this the negative battery cable? What is supposed to be on the 'm' terminal? Where does the battery positive connect to? Thanks for all the help!:stupid:

Just bought an Alpine CD player and am installing it in the 240. Only putting in two speakers in the back(no fronts) and was wondering how to wire the speakers: do you combine the wires for the front and rear speakers or do you just ignore the front speaker wires. The manual has no instructions regarding a two speaker system. Thanks, Victor.

Just recharged air conditioner but the blower isnt moving enough air. Would replacing it and adding a plastic fan cage help or is the problem one of original engineering? Any suggestions welcome. Best, HCH

Is it possible for me to place a 1973 speedometer cable into my 1971 240z? Does it matter if it was manual or an automatic. Thanks!

I don't suppose it's possible that a '71 dash wiring harness will go right into a '72 dash? Are the '71's and '72's interchangable? Mine is so bad that I think changing out the entire harness will be easier than fixing all the problems.

Ok, There was just a thread was just posted about a set of M3 mirrors. In the post it said they are looking at the mirrors with the turn signal because they have pulled there side marker lights. Now, did Nissan make the side lamps blink with the turn signal on any 240 260 ? Here in the US they are just marker or parking lights that just stay on all the time with the switch on. I am not picking at anything. Just wondering if maybe thats one of those little RHD LHD changes that get overlooked.

I bought one of those keyless entry kits frome VB. I gotta say my experience was very negitive. I could not use them on my 73 cause i could not find any reasonable way to mount them. I really couldn't see any good way to do it. I tried on my 78. I saw a way to mount them but I failed and it was very fustrating. I got them mounted but they did not have a smooth motion and when I got the door back together I could not lock or unlock the door, with my hands. The culprit was the attachement to the door lock stem being too FAT. The catalog says EASY installation but since they are universal sets they do not actually cater to the Z. If any one has had a positive experience I…

when im driving around sometimes the car will just turn off, and it wont start back up. I took it to my mechanic and the connector on the computer for my 76 280z was loose and then the car started right back up. after 1 day of driving around the car has the "emergency brake" indicator light always on and the car continues to turn off at certain times, both in stop and go and on the freeway. But this time the car will start right back up again and i can continue driving until it shuts itself off. Anyone had this before? Thanks

Hello everyone! I would really appreciate advice on this ASAP! I have a '72 240z. About a week ago I noticed that my headlights were not as brite as they normally are, then today, the car just lost power while I was driving. Moments before total power loss, the radio would go on and off as I pressed the brake (brake lights going on). Any idea if this is a major problem or is it a generator / alternator issue?? Many thaks!!!

Alot of the little intermit issues that drive you crazy can be fixed.Switches must be exercized. Why does the little brake switch work for so many years yet that under hood light needs a couple of flips before it functions correctly(until the next time). The better switches make contact at a slight angle as to scrub the contacts clean when used.Your parents always said "don't twist the knob off that!!"You should!!.300z's are bad about radio static when you move the volume control. With the car off.Spin the knob from min to max until you get bored. If it slides--slide it. if it clicks--click it.I work the over head light door switch by pushing it in and letting it pop out --n…

Alot of dash work has been posted lately.I wish to offer some food for thought. If you have ever taken the AMP/FUEL from a 240 thru the glovebox it is a pain and its the easy way!! The 280's had a pigtail(screwed to gauge to plugable wiring harness connector about 6 inches long). They learned the error of the hand through the gauge hole holding gauge/wrench from glove box(what the hell would a lefthander do?).I would suggest adding a pigtail to the AMP guage given the chance. You will pat yourself on the back at a later date.Years from now you will want to remove it and that wrench behind the dash will twist the gauge post or at a minimum crack your dash with your hand thru…
