I have run into a problem with the headlight switch fitted to my 6/73 240z. When the switch is actuated to position 1 the parkers and tail light illuminate, moving up to position 2, all existing lights are still illuminated, no low or high beam, no power to the fuse for the low and high beam lights either. Does anyone have a fix for this problem. please help Steve

Hi! this is my first time here, and I can't say how great it is to have found this site!! I just bought a '72 240z last sat. Everything seems to be in order except for the fuse box. the fuse holder slot that deals with my dashlights and rear lights keeps slipping loose. The whole box needs to be replaced, actually, and I am having the hardest time locating a new fuse box. The Nissan dealership told me I was up a creek as they didnt manufacture them anymore. I am in so.cal and all the z cars in the strip yards have been parted out as far as fuseboxes go..... Does anyone know of how to go about locating one somewhere else in the state or country? Does ebay have things like…

Please Help!!! I own a 1972 240Z...The problem is that whenever I put the car in drive I am loosing power. To adjust for this I changed the fuel filter and adjusted the idle. Same result. I was driving along and then....loosing power until the car eventually died. The car does start back up when it dies...however, when I put it in drive the engine dies. Any suggestions. Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi guys, I dont know what my problem is but i was hoping you guys can tell me. my voltage meter isnt very steady and goes up and down alot. There were a few times where my car didnt even crank. when i turn the key to the on position, the voltage meter went all the way down. but then i checked my battery clamps and they were kinda lose then i tightened them and i haven had the starting problem yet. Im not sure if that was it, but my meter is still jumping around. Could it the VR or the resenator?

My harness, like the rest of the car was cut up by a hack. Everything worked before I tore the car apart but I don't want to risk a fire with a restored car. I've found out there's no new harnesses so it's either find one in good shape or buy a universal one and figure everything out. If I have a weak point it's, wiring, I'd rather rebuild a tranny. Any suggestions?

I am running a performance coil and I took out the ballast resistor and just connnected the wires from the opposite sides of resistor together. I was told by a friend this would ruin the coil is this true? I have been awaiting a 280z electronic distributor to put in but it is yet to arrive. Frankenstein Z

My 1971 Z has a problem with the heater and rear defogger only running intermittently. I traced it down to a relay on the kick plate on the passenger side of the car. Can this relay be repaired, it sounds like there are contact points inside or does it need to be replaced? By the way it gets constant power, it just doesnt always allow current to pass to either the heater or defogger. It always 'clicks' but no power is passed to the heater or defogger. Any ideas where I can get this relay? I doubt a Nissan dealer would have such an old part. Thanks

So, it came with NGKs and should stay with NGKs, but what about the iridium, or platinum, or anything else? I'm in NY, so I have temperature variations between below freezing in the winter to well above hot in the summer, and I have a higher output coil and some decent spark wires. Should I just stick the 6es in there, or upgrade to something else? Thanks in advance, Chris

Okay I have been asking around about putting in a 80' 280z distributor in a 72 240z. I am putting in the ps60 crane coil out of MSA, spark plugs, wires, all along with the 80 distributor and the 1280 module. I have had several people tell me that they had no problem. They just attached the tach to the new coil and took the ballast out and just connected the wires on opposite sides of it. Pretty much just follow thehttp://www.geocities.com/zgarage2001/engine.html link. The part about installing the distributor is about a half of the way down. In the picture its show a performance coil getting hooked in with the newer distributor. At the end of the section it says h…
