This may sound stupid; however, I really do not know how a horn functions. My horn in my 76 Z is not working. I have removed the center part of the steering wheel and the plastic piece directly behind the steering wheel. After that I am not sure what I should be looking for. Where is the horn? What other parts need to be considered? I did check the fuse. I looked at a couple previous posts on this topic but did not understand the details. Any help would be appreciated.

Hello, I've just imported a 240Z from the US (Cal) to the UK. I read on another site that there was a guide on this site to modifying USA spec lights to UK spec (ie: remove the day running lights but still able to use the indicators). There's thousands of threads to do with lighting but the search words I've used can't locate it and I've looked through the various sections with no success. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks.

I'm having problems with my ignition lock cylinder and need to turn to you guys for help. Original symptoms, key was stuck in ignition in the ON position so it wouldn't turn to START, or back to OFF. I read on here to spray in some lube, wiggle the key, rap on it with a hammer (this is a bad idea, by the way - will explain later), all without luck. So I pulled the assembly (pictured below) off the steering column and took it to a locksmith. He found that there's a stop inside the lock to keep the key at the right depth. Mine was cracked (possibly made worse by me hitting the key with a hammer) and hence it was very easy to insert the key slightly too far, at which p…

I am in the process of putting my dashboard back into the car (1973 240z), I didnt label the connections (bad mistake, I know) Everything seems to work, except my dash lights. My current issue is that I keep blowing the parking light fuse (third one down from the right, MSA fuse box) when I turn the dimmer switch. Any suggestions on how I should approach my issue?

This is a pic of the relay bracket from a 77 Z. There are mounting holes for relays that my car does not have. Does anyone know what the relays are that screw to this side? What are the functions of the two relays that screw to those four mounting holes on the side that faces forward toward the headlights: And for posterity, here are the other three sides. This is the side that faces the engine. The four screws attach the two fusible link blocks: Here's the side that faces the battery. The relay in the pic (I believe) is for the air conditioning compressor: And here's the side where the voltage regulator would mount:

I was going to ask you guys what the advantages and disadvantages of switching my distributor for an electronic ignition would be but I'm beginning to feel really stupid. Is there an auto 101 website that I can go to? thanks

Okay...have a few issues with my blower motor. My problem is that the blower does not turn on when the blower switch is clicked in any direction. The off button works very well. Now...when I tap the blower to a battery, it turns on, and I just replaced the resistance, so those two are ruled out. Now HERE's an idea...I think it's connected wrong. Here's what catches my attention... 1. The big white connectors are a bit silly. The one from the wiring harness has 6 wires going into it, and the one from the blower resistor only has four. What gives? (Am I plugging the wrong two connectors together?) 2. The blower resistance is wired to the top of the blower moto…

Hello, I am rebuilding a 1980 280ZX dizzy that I am going to put into my early 74. I found 2 ball bearings loose inside and 1 under each of the 3 metal arms on the bottom side. The "stuff" between the metal plates fell out in pieces. Now I want to replace it. I did a search through here and the only link I could find was to MidwestZ, any other places? Thanks.

Hey guys, I got myself a power antenna about a year ago, and it just decided to bite the bullet. Whenever I turn on the stereo, the antena makes one "click" type noise, but the motor does not run to push the antenna up. Same when i turn the stereo off. I'm tired of the extra hassle. I'm wondering if it's possible to get a stubby short rubber covered antenna like those seen on the 350Z or S2000 and use it on an early Z. I'm going to the Nissan dealership today to see if they can order an antenna, but if you guys know a little more than me, please let me know. However, I haven't seen anyone with that style of antenna on this forum yet, so, I might actually be the first to …

Hi all, Using the search function I came across several questions regarding Z Specialties 105 Amp Alternator. I just purchased one and thought I share my experience with it. Since I've owned my '72 240Z, she has always had "slow" turn signals. I've replaced the flasher unit, the switch on the steering column, cleaned connnectors, and probably a whole lot more over the several years I've owned her. Some of this actions made marginal differences but, the end results were not completely satisfying. Two months ago I had A/C installed in my 240Z using the kit from MSA. Works great btw here in the central valley of California. The resulting drain on the electrical system …
