I have a 1974.5 Datsun 260Z. I Have completed the wiring upgrade from Datsun Dave and that was a nice improvement over the stock harness. Next step is replacing the sealed beams with an new option. I searched the forum for past threads but they all seemed to be at least a few years old. What seems to be the best option for an upgrade. I would the best value for my $ that is also reliable. As far as the H4 options I have looked at Hella and Cibie and can't really determine if there is a major difference in the quality of the light. I would appreciate your thoughts about any experience you have with these or other options. Thanks!

Background... I've done the alternator upgrade using the MSA alternator / voltage regulator adapter and it works just great. I've also removed the mechanical fuel pump and installed an electric pump back at the tank using the pre-wired circuit and this also works great. In another thread regarding the alternator upgrade on a 73 240 there's a caution about cars with electric fuel pumps that can cause battery drain without an additional change. The question... I jumpered the connector with an inertia switch in the console for crash protection. The connector in the console area gives power when jumpered to the pre-wired electric fuel pump circuit that's in all the 240Z…

Just happened (edit: prob inaccurate as it may have happened longbefore I started using the park lights. See resolution on post #34) . As soon as the fuse touches the box it lits then blows. Haven’t touch anything electrical except pull the radio out which wasn’t even connected and that was a week ago. Checked the wiring behind the radio but saw nothing that would cause shorting. Could someone kindly provide some clues? Thanks in advance. 12/71 2.6 block E88 heads triple weber 3/2 Mallory Abarth Tokico 1-3/4 sways

Well, its about that time of year to put the Z away for the winter. It has been sitting in the garage for a couple of weeks and it is around 40 here today. Turned the key and got nothing. I am not too surprised since the battery is pretty old and its cold this morning. No big deal, right? So I put it on the battery charger for 2 hours. When I turned the key to try it, I immediately heard a really loud pop and vapors came out from under the hood. I was really shocked to see that my battery had exploded!! Not only did it blow the cap off, it blew a big chunk out of the top and broke out one whole corner of the top portion. The explosion was so powerful, that it…

Can someone tell me the physical path of the wiring for the rear window defroster on my 78 280Z. I recently purchased this Z for my wife and the recent cooler weather led me to find that the wiring isn't even making it to the connectors on the glass and would like to have an idea as to where the wiring is suppose to be. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Getting new mill with the 280zx alternator. Bought Dave's conversion adapter. For 73's the fuel pump relay needs to be disconnected. In this link Dave asks for photos of the relay and wiring mod for '73 but nobody posts them. Any link to instructions for '73? Which one is the fuel pump relay? The fuel pump is removed. Also, what about the ammeter. Will it be OK as is or is a mod required for that?

Hi, I'm about to mount 3,4 relays and additional fusebox for IGN and constant +12v under dashboard or firewall. I'd like to see where people mount relays and additional fusebox under dashboard. Also, where you put ground connections.

I put an Interstate Battery (Group 24) in my 77 280 a couple years ago and I never liked the way the battery hold-down fit. Interstate has a stepped lip along the top of the battery that is juuuuusssst a little too big to fit inside the hold down bracket, resulting in a small contact patch on the top surface of the battery that is too small to provide what I consider a good reliable contact. In fact, it usually slips off one side or the other and wedges itself in on an angle. It's probably not just me, and I bet all you Interstate users know what I'm talking about. Here's the stepped lip that runs around the entire top of the Interstate. The inside dimensions of the …

Sorry to post a question without searching the site. I know this is an old question. Engine's about done and I've got a lot to do, need to order the parts now. Car is '73 240Z. Maybe it's time to ditch the points.
