Been doing a lot of work/research lately (as you can tell by my numerous posts). I am still on the fence about converting all or almost all bulbs to LED. I still might do this, but I'd also like to add a 3rd brake light. A search shows a few have done this (not on this site) with good results. Since I have a rear louver, which I can't/won't remove since it's drilled in the hatch, I don't think mounting it inside would make it very visible. I'm thinking of picking up a third high mount brake strip from a 99 Tahoe (which is my DD) and mounting it with emblem adhesive either on or over my louver. I would like to increase my braking visibility to t…

Found lots of stuff in here on LED headlights, but not these specifically. Has anybody tried these in their 240? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B010BWQOW4/ref=psdc_318323011_t2_B01HD6HX8U It looks like these will fit the stock H6024 cans.

I’m trying to figure out how to hook up the original radio as well as a modern day radio in a 1974 260Z. The original speaker is gone and I have two door and two rear compartment speakers. If I chose to have the original (monaural ) radio power the two front speakers and still be able to run the two front and two rear with the modern radio, I’m assuming I need to do some special wiring since both radios cannot power a speaker at the same time and since the two front speakers cannot be hooked together for the original radio because that will be a problem for the modern radio that needs to keep them separate. Please look this over and offer suggestions on if it will wo…

Is there a 240z Harada semi-automatic radio antenna repair thread on this site? I seem to remember seeing one years ago but I cannot find it. And now I need to fix an antenna. Thanks, Daniel P.

Hello all, I've been searching for the past week about converting my 1976 280z to better headlights, I'm kind of leaning towards the H4 (due to cost, original lens, etc...). Do I need a new harness if I use the stock rated wattage (60/55)? Which wiring harness "upgrade" plugs in directly? Do i need it? Please explain why a relay(s) help? Could I make one myself? I'd like to keep the stock "look", so the Hellas or Autopal? Which H4 bulbs will give the best "white" light (not yellow)? Do I have to holesaw my stock housings for the connectors to fit? Where exactly am I disconnecting (and replacing/making) a harness? engine bay? under d…

A while back, I happened to search the web for specs on bulbs, in part trying to answer someone's questions on an electrical issue. I have to confess that I have been lazy in calling out 1156 bulbs for side markers, license plate lights and rear markers. In the 74 FSM, Nissan called out the bulb specifications rather clearly. Type 67 bulbs should be used for rear/side markers, and type 89 bulbs should be used for license plate lights. I pulled up the 1156 specs today because I saw a comment on another thread talking about a fuse box heating up, so I made a spreadsheet to estimate the current draw. If all of the type 67 & 89 bulbs were replaced by 1156 bulbs…

My map light was intermittent, the on the dash not the roof. I popped for a used one off ebay, guy says is does not work, I tried it and seemed fine. Anyway it had the wrong connector, but my parts stash turned up some new pins and the plastic shell I needed so off with the old and on with the correct. All good now. But I decided I need to understand the issue so now that I have a working light I felt ok to try and fix my old one. I was concerned that it may break upon disassembly, but it was no big deal. Lesson learned disassemble and re assemble with it in the "ON" position, just seemed to work better. Don't loose the little bearings (plastic pivot points). th…

Ok, so I took on the task of rebuilding my perfectly running l28. I got it out had the motor redone and put it back in. That was all, for the most part, easy. Then I go to start the wiring procedure. I have a diagram and I followed it to the most of my abilities. When I got the car, it had quite a few wires unconnected in the first place so I had left about 4 wires unconnected. So here comes the problem; I have no electrical power running at all through the car.I'm talking no headlights, no dashlights, no start lights. Nothing at all. This is the last step before I prime engine and go. So please if anyone has experience with this or knows what else I can do please comment…

Ok don't know how I missed this before, but on the drivers side rear, the wire loom that feeds the power antenna and side marker light has a yellow wire and yellow black wire sitting there stripped. Were these for the OEM speakers. Was there really only one speaker for the entire car? The wiring diagram I looked at didn't show the wiring diagram for the radio. Is there such a diagram somewhere? Checked this but I don't see the speaker itself on the diagram or the wires.

I'm looking at the wiring harnesses I have here for 1969 and 1970, and for the life of me, I can't determine what the original colour of the transparent rubber/plastic terminal insulators are supposed to be. Some of the larger ones from, say, the interior where the parking brake switch is seem to be of a greenish hue, even when cleaned thoroughly. Yet a couple of others that are the same dimensions and for the same type of crimp terminal look more like an amber colour. Then there are some that are just so burnt from possibly engine bay heat or UV discoloration, that they are closer to brown- so I'm not sure if they were ever amber to begin with. For this car I'm…

Missing a connector in the fuse box. Vehicle 1974 260z 2-seater The attached photograph shows the backs of my fuse box on the right and one I purchased on the left. The fuses are numbered top to bottom 1-7 on the right and 8-14 on the left of each box when viewed from the rear. The outer contact on my fuse No. 4 is missing. Someone spliced a purple box marked 12V10A 410 (upper right side of photo) branching off of the Green/White wire from fuse No. 3. A blue wire then extends from the purple box. I’m assuming the blue wire used to go to No. 4 based on the wiring of the box I recently purchased. All would be fine except fuse No. 3 keeps blowing. I’d lik…
