I am just about to complete the installation of my dash on my 1976 280z. I have almost all my wiring connections completed. There are two white wires located beside the ecu on the drivers side footwell that I can't figure out where they go. Can anyone give me any help? Thanks.

I am experiencing an issue with the emergency brake light at the dashboard. It does light up when i pull the emergency brake lever. However if the lever is down it lights up dimly on the dashboard. I already topped both of the master cylinder reservoirs with DOT4 fluid and the light is still showing up at the back very dim. I did notice that there is female cable connector attached to the terminal of the sensor underneath the master cylinder. Do i need to clean this sensor? something is not grounding properly i believe. Anyone??

I find myself reaching out to this awesome community once again. I have a 1974.5 Datsun 260z (Oct 1974 build date). Two weeks ago all was right with the world. I'd had a nice afternoon of driving the Z. I stopped to fill up the gas tank and when I started the car back up none of my gauges were working. Nothing but the speedometer (it's a mechanical connection). Fast forward to this Saturday an my battery alone will not start the car. I get a jump start and try to make it home. It's night and I have my headlights on. By the time I make it approximately 10 miles to my home my headlights are barely visible. Here are my questions. Do you think that the gauge issue is c…

Ok, 73 240Z, original style distributor with Pertronix I. MSD box crapped out on me a couple years ago, but I wanted multiple spark again. Picked up a used crane Hi-6s. Got it wired up per Crane instructions, works but the tach reads high at idle (like 2000+ RPM, and when revving higher starts going higher, then drops, then jumps. Never stays at what sounds close to actual RPM. I tried the leftover MSD tach adapter i had (#8910), no dice. Ordered TachMatch tach adapter and am getting the same result. If I wire either one according to the old Crane tach adapter instructions, the car won't start. Moved the adapter red wire to connect to the green/white, car will fire but w…

I am thinking of having a kill switch installed in my 240Z and wanting some advice as to the best route to take. It sounds like an ignition/ starter type might be better than a fuel pump cut off switch but I am asking for opinions and info. On the pros and cons associated with both methods. Are there electrical problems related to the ignition cut off switch? Any insight or personal experiences are very much welcome. Thanks. Bill

I have a 1972 240z, and the guy I bought it from got a viper security system and a beefy sound system wired in (very poorly might I add). I need to rewire a lot of the engine bay and the wiring diagrams available are not helping, a lot of wires are spliced and replaced that don't match up or are just taped off and lead nowhere. If anybody has a diagram of all the 10 pin connectors that are located underneath the passenger side of the dashboard it would help a lot, or if anybody has any self made diagrams that are at all related to engine bay wiring please post them, anything might help me out.

I recently acquired a 71 240Z. The car was sitting for the better part of 4 years however it started on first turn. The gentleman who owned it before did what's necessary to keep it in running condition. Although the car was drivable it would occasionally hesitate or sputter in 3rd or 4th gear at cruise speeds. It was evident there was a sediment in the fuel filter. I decided to due a tune up for good measure and ordered major tune up kit from MSA (http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/12-4700). I changed the fuel filter first then started the car to ensure it started. Success. I then went to work on changing out the ignition parts. As I took the plug wire…

Hello all, Ive been going thru my 78 280z engine harness which had a harness fire and i am fixing that. This is not a question on how ot install an E fan, the question comes up because while going thru the wiring diagram, i found a connection that says that it goes to the electric fan sub harness. My z came with an aftermarket E fan, but it was not plugged in. Can i use that connection shown on the diagram for my efan? Ive looked online and cant seem to find anything that mentions a stock efan for 280z. Also, on my thermostat housing, i have what it seems to be a sensor that would control an e fan. My Tstat housing has 4 sensors, the ECT, the gauge coo…

The turn signal switch in my 240z is actually a "restored" switch I bought in April 2015 from Parsignault Parts on Ebay. It has worked flawlessly up until April of this year when the right side rear would not blink but the circuit would turn off the brake light. So when I was at a stop light with the right turn signal selected, my right front turn signal flashed but the right rear light was dark with only the left brake light on. With ZCON coming in June I wanted to get this taken care of. After some troubleshooting I determined the problem was with the switch, UGH! The switch was not completing the rear turn signal circuit when activated so I carefully opened up the …

So after I completely took off all of the previous owners wire hacking and replaced the modded hazard switch with another one I had laying around, the hazards and the brakes worked regardless of the random wire that came from the positive terminal that also gave power to the rest of the other guages. So now I'm stuck because the "STOP" fuse blew and I replaced it right now and my hazards don't work still. Do you guys have a solution for me?. I also wanted to know how I could fix the rest of the guages since this black wire off of the positive battery post was giving the guages power. I wanted to at least fix the (stop/hazards) lights in order for me to be able to dri…
