I need a new door jamb switch for the passenger door on my '78, because the pin is pushed in get in and I can't get it out. I think I can get one from the APS, but the website has several with two wires, but different terminals. All I need to know is what kind of terminals are on the wires; two bullet, or two blade terminals? BTW- Does NAPA have them? thxZ

This is on my 76 2+2. The other day my daughter was following me home and when we arrived she said my right (passenger) side brake light wasn't very bright. I don't know how long it's been like that, may be ever since I bought the car a couple of years ago and then some. Anyway, when I put the brakes on, the parking element on the right side lights, not the brake element. When I turn the parking lights on, the correct parking element lights, but then if I also put the brakes on, neither element lights. I tried switching bulbs, but it doesn't change anything. The left side (driver side) lamps seem to work fine. Any ideas where in the wiring harness I should sta…

I need some help with my internally regulated alternator. I have a 1976 280z that I have been restoring (full rotisserie resto-mod). The car is pretty complete mechanically. I have removed the fuel injection and fuel injector harness and control. I have removed the distributor and transistor ignition module. In their place I have triple OER Carbs and an XDI electronic ignition. I don't that either mod bears on my present problem. I have installed a 60a internally regulated alternator. I performed the wiring modifications shown here: http://atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/alternatorswap/index.html The problem is that it doesn't seem to work. I can …

During my recent time at the recent ZCON 2016 event in Toronto, (best ever by the way, said the un-biased Canadian) I made several interesting observations about the 240z's that were present. Most observations were something like "I have to step up my game if I ever want to win anything at these things if I bring mine again". Some mighty nice machinery indeed. As the OCD perfectionist in me is never quiet, I could not help be notice something interesting about almost ALL of the 240's present. It began with the judged show on Wednesday. I was staring longingly at everyone's engine bays, as I'm in the midst of doing a relatively stock-ish 71 resto and wanted a bit of g…

Just did a Pertronix ignition swap on a 72 automatic trans. It had the dual points dizzy but I swapped out with a single point before doing ignition swap. Engine runs fantastic, but I've lost the tach somewhere in this . The auto has additional wires that might be part of my issue. I did away with the ballast and tied those wires together . They seem to have no bearing on whether the engine runs or the tach works- which kind of confused me. The autos also had this relay set up for the secondary points, not sure if they are tied in somehow to the tach . Any insight would be appreciated

maybe this is your problem. the ground wire is just folded over the plastic, and the socket is pressed in. you can see the corrosion on the socket and the copper wire. corrosion doesnt make for good connections here is my solution, pull the socket out of the plastic housing and solder the ground wire to the socket. no problems now

My aftermarket radio was working before i took my 72 240z to the paint shop and now it does not turn on at all. I already checked the manual antenna connection at the trunk of the car and the antenna banana plug is connected to the female socket. Dont see no broken wire from the positive terminal of the battery to the radio. The red wire is connected. Where else do i check? I really dont want to pull the heater panel off to see if something was disconnected or not. THe only thing that was done to the car is a swap of the ingnition switch and that only consisted on a plug and play female 5 pin socket. The car is running and all its lights are working. Where else do i check…

You know those 2-pin electronic flashers that you can get? I would like to know more about how they work, so you could use it for other stuff besides flashing the turn indicator lights. I have a few in the parts box. Most of the stuff I read involves plugging them into your motorcycle, but could you just hook it up to a 12V battery to flash some lights, like on a sign in the front lawn? If you used the old-fashioned bimetal flasher, you need a lot of current or resistance, but would it work for just a few LEDs? The one flasher I looked at had only the B and L terminals.

I am uncertain if my Datsun 1972 240z (Made in January 1972) used a Manual or Electric Antenna? Can someone clear this out? I do have the following antenna still unwrapped and would like to know if i should just setlle with the OEM manual antenna as i would not like to be driving with the antenna up while hearing CDS or music through the USB port: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Power-Antenna-Kit-1970-thru-1973-for-Datsun-240Z-AM-FM-Car-Radio-/181565640752?hash=item2a4627d030:g:ZOAAAOSwnDZUIJ-k&vxp=mtr Anyone???

When I completed the restore of my car, I spent a lot of time removing brackets, clips, and other miscellaneous parts within the engine bay in order to give it a cleaner and better organized look. Actually, this was my son's idea, so I can't take credit for it, but it really did clean up the look of the engine bay nicely. However, as I was contemplating all of the upgrades for the electrical system, I realized I was going to need a slew of new relays for headlights, cooling fans, etc and I just didn't like the idea of cluttering up the engine bay that I just got done cleaning up. On top of that relays are mechanical in nature and as such can fail over time, so I rea…
